Crusade: Issue 75 - Battle Royale

Location: Destroyers Headquarters.

HQ bottom floor:

HQ middle floor:

No Crusaders on the HQ top floor

HQ roof

[19]       Annihilator flew through the clouds straining against the sound of the storm winds to listen for his prey. He heard the faint sounds of helicopter blades whirling through the air.

{GM Note: Annihilator had to make a perception test to try to find the Copter with another one of his senses since he couldn’t see or hear the easily Crusader Copter because of Dreamweaver’s illusions hiding it. The illusions provided both vision and sound components. He succeeded in his perception test so he could attack with a -3.}

Annihilator fired his disintegration ray at the sounds he had successfully isolated.

ZOM! It hit.

{GM Note: Hits for 11 damage, armor doesn’t stop disintegration and vehicles can’t roll with damage. All damage to vehicle’s hits points for 11 points of damage}

[14]       Adamas went after Behemoth and Erdbeben... he easily closed the distance that was between them and himself.  Adamas fired his power blasts targeting Behemoth's face.

ZZWWT!! First power blast hit

{GM Note: 5 points of damage which Behemoth rolled with all of it}

ZZWWT!! Second power blast missed

ZZWWT!! Third power blast hit

{GM Note: 4 points of damage which Behemoth rolled with all of it}

ZZWWT!! Fourth power blast hit

{GM Note: 9 points of damage which Behemoth rolled with most of it. His head rolled from the minor pain he felt. He was still standing}

ZZWWT!! Fifth power blast hit

{GM Note: 12 points of damage which Behemoth rolled with half of it. His head jerked back from the blast. He was still standing}

Behemoth smiled while wiping the back of his hand across his jaw. “There you go Adamas, not bad for an ex-Forcer. That last blast has a little sting to it. If I wasn’t busy with the running man, I wouldn’t mind going a few rounds with you for ole time’s sake.”

[12]       Chrysalis fired four poison darts at StrikeForce

PFFT! First dart hit.

{GM Note: the dart is Bio damage. StrikeForce’s armor doesn’t protect against Bio. StrikeForce must make an Endurance save with -1 modifier to avoid taking 4 points of damage. If he failed his save, he would continue to take 4 points of damage each turn until he does make his Endurance Save. StrikeForce rolled with the save, adding 4 points to his save target (13+4-1) of 16. StrikeForce rolled a 5 he made his save.}

PFFT! second dart hit.

{GM Note: the dart is Bio damage. StrikeForce rolled with the save, adding 4 points to his save target (13+4-1) of 16. StrikeForce rolled a 4 he made his save.}

PFFT! third dart hit.

{GM Note: the dart is Bio damage. StrikeForce rolled with the save, adding 4 points to his save target (13+4-1) of 16. StrikeForce rolled a 20 he failed his save. There is no critical failure on a save. StrikeForce took 4 points of damage. He rolled with 3, -3 to Power Points. He lost 1 Hit Point. He is still standing. He will continue to take 4 points of damage until he makes his Endurance Save between turns}

PFFT! fourth dart hit.

{GM Note: the dart is Bio damage. StrikeForce rolled with the save, adding 3 points to his save target (13+3-1) of 15. StrikeForce rolled a 4 he made his save.}

[11]       Annihilator fired his disintegration ray at Crusader Copter again.

ZOM! It hit.

{GM Note: Hits for 9 damage, armor doesn’t stop disintegration and vehicles can’t roll with damage. All damage to vehicle hits points for 9 points of damage}

[  9]       Annihilator fired his disintegration ray at Crusader Copter again.

ZOM! It hit.

{GM Note: Hits for 19 damage, armor doesn’t stop disintegration and vehicles can’t roll with damage. All damage to vehicle hits points for 19 points of damage. The Crusader Copter is incapacitated. It is unable to fly.}

The helicopter started to free fall from the sky as its engine stopped working.

[  9]       Blizzard noticed the hangers doors on the roof of the Destroyers roof were starting to open. Dreamweaver did not as she was attempting to steer the falling helicopter to crash land on one of the nearby roof tops.

[ 7] {GM Note: Shapeshifter and Chrysalis decided to coordinate their attacks of StrikeForce to combine their attack on him by attacking simultaneously. They are attacking on the same phase, Phase 7. Shapeshifter and Chrysalis both will suffer a -3 penalty to hit. If their attacks are successful StrikeForce’s protection will protect as normal, but StrikeForce may only roll vs damage once. This means it is divided equally among all of the simultaneous attacks (rounded down).

[  7]       Shapeshifter’s fists took the shape of massive spiked maces as she swung them at StrikeForce

WHAM! Her first fist hit

{GM Note: Shapeshifter has a -3 modifier to hit for the coordinated attack, -3 bonus for the multiple attack and a +6 bonus because StrikeForce was grappled. She needed a 17 to hit, rolled 12. She rolled 11 points of damage. StrikeForce’s armor stopped 6 points of damage. StrikeForce has 28 Power Points. Since 4 of the coordinated attacks were successful, he could roll with 2 points divided by 4 with the Damage. Rounding down per rules, the amount StrikeForce can roll with in Damage is 0. StrikeForce lost 5 Hit Points. Since he is in a grapple hold there is no knockback. He is still able to fight}

WHAM! Her second fist hit.

{GM Note: Shapeshifter has a -3 modifier to hit for the coordinated attack, -3 bonus for the multiple attack and a +6 bonus because StrikeForce was grappled. She needed a 17 to hit, rolled 6. She rolled 9 points of damage. StrikeForce’s armor stopped 6 points of damage. StrikeForce has 28 Power Points. Since 4 of the coordinated attacks were successful, he could roll with 2 points divided by 4 with the Damage. Rounding down per rules, the amount StrikeForce can roll with in Damage is 0. StrikeForce lost 3 Hit Points. Since he is in a grapple hold there is no knockback. He is still able to fight}

[  7]       Chrysalis fired 3 poison darts as Shapeshifter simultaneously attacked Strikeforce.

PFFT! First dart missed.

PFFT! second dart hit.

{GM Note: the dart is Bio damage. Since 4 of the coordinated attacks were successful, he could roll with 2 points divided by 4 with the Save. Rounding down per rules, the amount StrikeForce can roll with in Save is 0. StrikeForce rolled with the save, adding 0 points to his save target (13+0-1) of 12. StrikeForce rolled a 13 he failed his save. He lost 4 Hit Points. He is still standing. He will continue to take 4 points of damage until he makes his Endurance Save between turns}

PFFT! third dart hit.

{GM Note: the dart is Bio damage. Since 4 of the coordinated attacks were successful, he could roll with 2 points divided by 4 with the Save. Rounding down per rules, the amount StrikeForce can roll with in Save is 0. StrikeForce rolled with the save, adding 0 points to his save target (13+0-1) of 12. StrikeForce rolled a 17 he failed his save. He lost 4 Hit Points. He is still standing. He will continue to take 4 points of damage until he makes his Endurance Save between turns}

[  6]       Electrocutioner teleported off the roof with a WHUMP!

None of the New Crusaders saw where he teleported to.

[  6]       StrikeForce with his heightened hearing heard a distant rumble above him. He knew from his piloting experience the rumble was the sounds of the starting of jet engines.

{Perception checks: StrikeForce received bonus of +5 for Hgt Sense: Hearing and +3 for Pilot knowledge. He passed his check with 7, he needed to roll anything less than a 20 to pass.}

Erdbeben from his frequent airline flights as part of an international medical team recognized the sound was that of jet engines above him.

{Perception checks: Erdbeben needed a 12 or less, he rolled a 2 to pass}

Patty Plus from her academic travels where she provided lectures on her research papers recognized the sound was that of jet engines above her.

{Perception checks: Patty Plus needed a 12 or less, he rolled a 2 to pass}

Dr Wildman from the travels he did as part of Wildman’s World for his TV on-location specials he recognized the sound was that of jet engines above him.

{Perception checks: Dr. Wildman needed a 12 or less, he rolled a 3 to pass}

Demy from training he received in the Russian Military recognized the sound was that of jet engines above him.

{Perception checks: Demy needed a 11 or less, he rolled a 1 to pass}

Black Orchid from when she was research lead on programs to augment the capabilities of soldiers in reconnaissance and surveillance, recognized the sound was that of jet engines above her.

{Perception checks: Black Orchid needed a 14 or less, she rolled a 6 to pass}

Adamas was focused on Behemoth. He didn’t hear the distance rumble at all.

{Perception checks: Adamas needed a 11 or less, he rolled a 19 to pass}

[  5]       Ratman listened intently to his prey. He had heard her and wasn’t about to let her slip away from him.

{GM Note: Ratman past his perception task to acquire a target last turn. He can attack Black Orchid with a -3 to hit.}

Ratman flicked his tail at the origin point of the sounds he heard.

SNAP! He hit Black Orchid

{GM Note: Ratman needed 17 or less to hit. He rolled a 9. The attack was a Paralysis Ray attack with reduced distance. Black Orchid has to make an Endurance save with -8 to her target number, if she fails, she is unconscious. Black Orchid’s based Endurance save is 13. She rolled with 8 power points. Her save target is (13+8-8) = 13. She rolled a 12. Black Orchid made her save. She is still conscious and able to fight.}.

[  5]       StrikeForce weighed his options, the Cyborg Crusader decided the most successful option was to stick with battling Shapeshifter. While Chrysalis was wearing on him, his ranged attack doesn't seem very promising. "It seems that the Pliable Pugilist will be getting my full attention." He thought. StrikeForce readied his Escrima sticks and attacked Shapeshifter.

KRAK! The first Escrima attack hit.

{GM Note: StrikeForce had a -3 modifier for being in a grapple hold and his normal -1 for a dual Escrima attack. He needed a 11 or less to hit. He rolled a 1 and a 14, a normal hit. He rolled 23 points of damage. Shapeshifter’s pliable body acted like armor stopping half of the damage. She rolled with half of the remaining damage. Her body stretched backwards as she was knocked into the wall behind her. She did not lose her grip on StrikeForce and she was still able to fight.}

KRAK! The second Escrima attack hit.

{GM Note: StrikeForce had a -3 modifier for being in a grapple hold and his normal -1 for a dual Escrima attack. He needed a 11 or less to hit. He rolled an 8. He rolled 21 points of damage. Shapeshifter’s pliable body acted like armor stopping half of the damage. She rolled with half of the remaining damage. Her body stretched backwards as she was knocked into the wall behind her. She did not lose her grip on StrikeForce and she was still able to fight.}

[  5]       Dr. Wildman from the chatter on the 'Crusader Comms' link and the chaos he could sense from the other side of his portal suspected things were not going as well as planned. In this sort of scenario taking the higher ground seemed to be the wisest move to the supernatural-survivalist. With a sweeping motion of his arms, he redirected the portal back to the rooftop from where they had come - trusting to his recent memory - and stepped through; gripping his staff in preparation for what might be unfolding in front of him.

William stepped through the portal and onto the roof. One of the important elements of his training was to adjust quickly to the instantaneous alteration of his environment as he teleported from one context to another.

One adapted quickly to survive.

He assessed the threats. Annihilator was airborne and the Crusader Copter was in near free-fall, clearly damaged.

Instinctively the decision was made. “Size of a roc” cried the polymorphic protagonist and a nimbus of green eldritch energy burst from him as man turned to avian predator. The bird of prey took flight and as it did it continued to grow with every wing beat as it headed for the stricken craft spiraling in descent.

Dr Wildman plucked the copter from the air and carried it to the roof. Placing it just outside the hanger door attempting to block the craft within.

[  4]       Patty Plus said "OK, time to make a real entrance! Be right back, don't stop the party without me!" Patty yelled playfully to cover her nervousness, then directed her astral form back to her unconscious body with all possible haste.

She immediately returned to her body. She ran upstairs to the roof where Dr Wildman's portal was. She entered it. Patty was in the Chemistry Lab on the bottom floor of Destroyers Headquarters. From her scouting she knew exactly where the stairway to the next floor was. It led to the middle floor hallway which was next to the security room where the fight was occurring. Patty ran up the stairway.

[  3]       Ratman attacked again with his tail.

SNAP! He hit Black Orchid

{GM Note: Ratman needed 17 or less to hit. He rolled a 7. She rolled a 20. There is no critical failure on a save, just a failed save check. Black Orchid was unconscious. She will get a save roll against the Paralysis at the end of the turn}.

[  3]       There was a thud as Black Orchid fell to the ground. She turned visible as she was lying unconscious on the floor. Ratman snickered loudly as he crawled across the ceiling. As he pushed himself, he left the room The sound of him running down the hallway could be heard as the sound became fainter the farther Ratman was from the room. There was the sound of a heavy down as it swung close. The sounds of clawed footsteps were no longer heard after that.

[  3]       Blizzard climbed out of the helicopter on to the roof. “Thanks for the save Doc, I think. I sure hope that’s you.”

Dreamweaver said, “It has to be Dr. Wildman, there is no way Shapeshifter would have saved us.”

Blizzard agreed, “You’re right, besides, I don’t think she can supersize her changes the way the Wildman can.” As he finished speaking his entire body started to vibrate. Blizzard became a blurred outline of himself, appearing as if he had been painted in watercolors. He raised his hand to the sky.

Blizzard fired a Vibe blast at Annihilator.

VARR! He missed.

{GM Note: In Mighty Protectors, Vibration defense is the same as non-corporeal. Blizzard has the modifier for his Vibe Blast of non-corporeal can harm corporeal. It costs 20 CPs for the modifier. Without it, Blizzard would only be able to harm other non-corporeal entities with he fired his vibe blast when his vibration defense was active. Blizzard needed a 6 to hit. He rolled a 19.}

[  3]       Dreamweaver turned herself invisible and activated a Kinetic field 25 feet around her {5” in game terms}

[  3]       Rubicon saw StrikeForce wrapped up by Shapeshifter. "Ack, I was afraid of that.

Rubicon aimed his blaster at her and fired.

BLAM! The pistol shot at Shapeshifter missed.

{GM Note: Rubicon needed a 11 to hit Shapeshifter. He rolled a 17}

[  3]       M.I.S.H.A. seeing Behemoth run out the door started to charge when Demy said, "Nyet, the shape changer first. They are splitting us up-focus on this one."

MISHA did his bite attack on Shapeshifter trying to rip her off of StrikeForce.

CHOMP! The bite attack hit.

{GM Note: M.I.S.H.A. received -3 to his attacks for the multi-action of biting and attempt to break the grapple hold. He needed a 7 to hit. M.I.S.H.A. rolled a 6. Now the break hold roll. It is HtH vs HtH roll. M.I.S.H.A rolled 16 with the -3 is 13. Shapeshifter rolled 6. He successfully broke the grapple hold that Shapeshifter had on StrikeForce. He used his movement to drag her across the room away from StrikeForce}

[  2]       Erdbeben ran down the hallway and went screeching around the corner in his New Balance running shoes. He was still screeching when Behemoth caught up to him and swung on him.

He couldn't believe his luck when Behemoth's huge fist didn't connect directly. Taking advantage of the situation, Erdbeben blasted Behemoth two more times and turned to continue screeching down the hallway.

VARR! The first vibe blast hit.

{GM Note: Erdbeben needed a 13 or less on his multi attack. He rolled a 9. Erdbeben rolled 18 points of damage. Behemoth rolled with less than half the damage. He grunted in pain. Vibration doesn’t cause knock back, so he was still standing and able to fight}

VARR! The second vibe blast hit.

{GM Note: Erdbeben needed a 13 or less on his multi attack. He rolled a 5. Erdbeben rolled 27 points of damage. Behemoth rolled with a little of the damage. He cried out in pain, but he was still standing and able to fight}}

As Behemoth cried out, “Come back here you runt! It’s my turn to bring the pain!” Erdbeben ran as far as he could looking for something or someone to help get this monster off his tail. Erdbeben ran around the second corner to a hallway that looked like it led to a dead end. He looked from side to side trying to decide which door to try to open when he remembered he had past a door which was the entrance to the stairway. He turned back running as fast as he could into the stairway, up the stairs to the next floor.

[   1]      Behemoth ran past Adamas brushing the hero to the side of the hallway when his former military teammate attempted to block him from chasing after Erdbeben. “Not today! civilian life has made you soft, slowed your reflexes! You should change your code name, Adamas no longer fits!”

{Adamas attempted to assert his zone of control to stop Behemoth from moving through the squares next to him. Behemoth needed to roll an 11 or less to get past Adamas. He rolled a 4.}

Behemoth ran down the hallways. He turned down the same dead-end hallway as Erdbeben had. He looked at all the doors trying to figure out which down his opponent had used. Frustrated, he decided to return to where he had just come from.

{GM Note: Behemoth took a perception test to see if he could figure out which way Erdbeben went. He needed a 10 or less. He rolled a 19}

“Hey Adamas, its play time after all. Now it is time to find out which is better, Freedom Brigade or Super Forces. I showed Arbalest that I was the baddest Brigader there ever was. {Issue 68 of the Crusade}. Now its time to show that the Super Forces are a PR stunt created to impress Congress and Media!” Behemoth yelled as he ran back the way he had came from.

He swung his massive fist at Adamas.

BAM! The punch hit Adamas.

{GM Note: Behemoth needed a 14 or less on his attack. He rolled a 3. Behemoth rolled 21 points of damage. Adamas’ invulnerability stopped 16 points of damage. He rolled with 4 points of damage, -4 to power points. Adamas suffered -1 to Hit Points. His mass check automatically stopped any knock back. Adamas is still able to fight}

[  0]       StrikeForce checked his internal control systems. The Nanites were flushing the poison from his system.

{GM Note: StrikeForce is poisoned. Between turns he gets to make an Endurance save to resist the poison. StrikeForce must make an Endurance save with -1 modifier to avoid taking 4 points of damage. If he failed his save, he would continue to take 4 points of damage each turn until he does make his Endurance Save. StrikeForce rolled with the save, adding 2 points to his save target (13+2-1) of 14. StrikeForce rolled a 11 he made his save.}

[  0]       StrikeForce checked his internal control systems. The Nanites were flushing the poison from his system.

[  0]       Black Orchid woke up and was able to move. She looked up to the ceiling as she laid prone on the floor.

{GM Note: Black Orchid is unconscious due to a Paralysis Ray attack. Black Orchid has to make an Endurance save with -12 to her target number, if she fails, she remains unconscious. Black Orchid’s based Endurance save is 13. She rolled with 7 power points. Her save target is (13+7-12) = 8. She rolled a 6. She is now conscious. She is prone on the floor, but she will be able to move and take an action on her next turn. She is visible}.

 WOOT!

Thanks Tom. Fun issue. This fight is going to be a bear!

Things just got more dynamic.

OOC: Tom, would MISHA OR RUBICON be able to get an attack on Behemoth leaving there area of influence? If so, they try to shoot an bite attack.

Regardless:

Rubicon sees Strike Force wrapped up by Shapeshifter. "Ack, I was afraid of that.

Rubicon aims his blaster at her and fires.

MISHA seeing Behemoth run out the door starts to charge when Demy says, "Nyet, the shapechanger first. They are splitting us up-focus on this one."

MISHA does a bite attack on Shapeshifter trying to rip her off of Strike Force.

-Greg

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

No, Mighty Protectors doesn't have opportunity attacks for someone leaving their zone of control.  It does have the ability to stop them from crossing 2 squares within their zone of control.  That is what happened to StrikeForce.  Read the GM Notes from last issue to see how it works.

I don't apply the rule to a character leaving an existing zone of control square and entering a square not in the zone of control which is what Behemoth did.

Tom

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Got it. Thank you for clarifying Tom. Please disregard that aspect of my response.

Looks to be a fun time!

Greg

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Erdbeben ran down the hallway and went screeching around the corner in his New Balance running shoes. He was still screeching when Behemoth caught up to him and swung on him.

He couldn't believe his luck when Behemoth's huge fist didn't connect directly. Taking advantage of the situation, Erdbeben blasts Behemoth two more times (double attack at -3 per attack) and turns to continue screeching down the hallway.

Erdbeben runs as far as he can looking for something or someone to help get this monster off of his tail.

Paul

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom - Whereabouts is Dr Wildman? I seem to have lost my bearings

Steve

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Ooc:

Lol! Funny Paul. Fyi, I considered running to help you but feel we'll be split up and figure Behemoth will getting Adamas focus next, I do intend to help as soon as Strike Force is free, hopefully!

Greg

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Greg. Not a problem on getting Erdbeben help. He's more survivable than he knows as this is the first time he's ever really been in combat. So, I'm just playing him up as still new to the whole superhero thing.

Paul

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Steve, yes there is the ability to get the files. I haven't checked on the cost because I don't have a 3D printer.

Dr. Wildman is still on the bottom floor of the HQ in the lab they had entered standing next to the portal.

I will send map tonight.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

 Fab, thanks Tom!

Steve

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the lower floor map where Dr. Wildman is.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

 OOC: I'm hoping that StrikeForce won't be tied up for too long.

Jamey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Adamas will go after Behemoth... he should easily have the movement to put himself between them.

I haven't tried this before, but what would it look like if he tried to target Behemoth's face with autofire?

Maybe that will get his attention.

Let's take him down Erdbeben.

OOC: I do think Erdbeben could take a beating, but as he's the only team member that seems to be in distress, and Adamas has a mothering instinct that kicks in when his teammates are in danger.  Adamas is not the strongest, and may not look like the toughest, but he can take a beating, that's what he does... his powerset is based on reducing damage taken, so even Behemoths hits should not take me out... maybe out of the building, but not out of the fight. :)

If we're going to continue as a team, we've got to work on some "moves" to work together.  Obviously, the Destroyers have done this kind of thing before...

Jon

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

A called head shot is at a -6. If it hits any hit point Damage (after armor, rolling with, etc) is doubled.

Jon, do you still want to take the head shots?

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom,

Is it possible for StrikeForce to target Chrysalis with the blast from his Escrima sticks?

Jamey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, he could target Chrysalis with his repulsion blast from his staff/Escrima stick. It does knockback only, so the only damage would be from striking a wall or other barrier

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom,

Could the grapple ability be used to pull her into a strike? I'm considering my options.

Jamey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, it could. To perform the grapple attack and attempt to pull her on the same turn would be a double attack, -3 to hit on both.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

IC: From the chatter on the 'Crusader Comms' link and the chaos he could sense from the other side of his portal Dr Wildman suspected things were not going as well as planned. In this sort of scenario taking the higher ground seemed to be the wisest move to the supernatural-survivalist. With a sweeping motion of his arms he redirected the portal back to the rooftop from where they had come - trusting to his recent memory - and stepped through; gripping his staff in preparation for what might be unfolding in front of him.

OOC: Hi Tom, I think this might be movement only - can you describe what Dr Wildman can see on the rooftop and I'll post an action based on that (assuming he is successful in teleporting back to the roof!).

Cheers

Steve

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

He is successful and, on the roof, across from Destroyers HQ.

He sees the cloud cover that Dreamweaver created was gone.

Annihilator is flying above the roof.

Electrocutioner had teleported away.

The Hanger doors are opening and will be completely opened in less than 10 seconds (at the end of this turn).

The Crusader Helicopter has been destroyed

Dreamweaver is frantically trying to direct it is a controlled crash.

Blizzard is desperately searching for the closest building roof or ledge that might off a place of safety for them to jump to.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom,

So -3 to both, what are my chances with the "blast"?

Jamey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

IC: William stepped through the portal and onto the roof.

“Size of an roc” cried the polymorphic protagonist and a nimbus of green eldritch energy burst from him as man turned to avian predator. The bird of prey took flight and as it did it continued to grow with every wing beat as it headed for the stricken craft spiraling in descent.

OOC: Dr Wildman will shapeshift into a roc (eagle/condor + Helm of the Chimera + super size) and attempt to pluck the copter from the air and carry it to the roof, if possible just outside the hanger door in an attempt to block the craft within.

Hope that is allowable within his power framework. Happy to adjust if necessary.

Steve

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jamey, Blast would hit on a 7 or less.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom,

I need to get some clarification on this from Astral Projection:

The physical body and the Astral body share the same Hits and

Power, and have all of the same Abilities (even their personal

Gear is Astrally duplicated).

Patty has a poison/venom power which intuitively I feel like she wouldn't be able to use astrally, but this seems to indicate she could.

How do you prefer to handle Astral Projection and abilities / gear?

Shane, Astral Projection is a form of non-Corporeal ability. Per the rules only Astral Projection can harm another Astral Projection NPC unless a modifier to harm Corporeal is bought for 20 CPs.

So Patty's has all the stats blocks and equipment for when the GM attacks her with another NPC using Astral Projection, Brouhaha!!

Tom,

So, the "pull" would be 7-3? It doesn't seem that this avenue of attack has much of a chance. Would my attacks against my current dance partner fare any better?

Jamey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jamey, StrikeForce can tell that Chrysalis is a very agile and skilled fighter. (Yes, it would be 7 or less if grapnel has a -3)

StrikeForce can tell that Shapeshifter is a very competent fighter that knows how to use her stretching powers for both defense and protection (it would be 8 or less with a -3 to the grapnel or blast attack)

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, let's give it a shot or 5. :)

Jon

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom,

Thanks for the information. It helps me to make my decision. I'll start working on my reply soon.

Jamey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Weighing his options, the Cyborg Crusader decides the most successful option is to stick with battling Shapeshifter. While Chrysalis is wearing on him, his ranged attack doesn't seem very promising. "It seems that the Pliable Pugilist will be getting my full attention." He thinks. StrikeForce readies his Escrima sticks and attacks Shapeshifter.

Shane, I wanted to point out that if Patty Plus pushes (-2 Power Points) she has more than enough movement to return to her body and then run upstairs to the roof where Dr Wildman's portal is to enter it. She will be in the Lab. From her scouting she knows exactly where the stairway to the next floor is (which is next to the security room where the fight is occurring). She would end her move in the stairway. I took an old issue map and marked the spot Patty could be in with her Corporeal body if she pushed her movement this turn using Dr. Wildman's newly created portal.

Patty would know what is happening from the Comm chatter and the portals disappearing in the room that she is.

You don't have to do this, but I wanted to make sure you realized there was an easy way this turn for Patty to return to her body and get back to the fight quickly.

Thanks

Tom

Steve, I have created the Roc for you. Here is what I used to create the mythical bird, let me know if you like it or if you want changes.

Mind Control and Size Change are standard for this form.

I used Avian Abilities for the rest.

·         Hgt Strength I had to add 2 in CPs and use King Size of 24' to get the Carrying Capacity above 11,520 lbs which is the weight of the Crusader Copter

·         I notated that Endurance received +18 from King Size

·         Hgt Defense: +3 to Physical, this represents the feather hiding the Roc's body from those attempting to target it.

·         Hgt Senses: With a profile of x4, the telescopic prevents range penalties when the Roc is attempting to grab a profile x1 target.

·         Flight with wings is the standard 20 CPs level with -5 CPs because Wings can't fly in a vacuum. I multiplied the movement by 4 to represent the 4x profile movement. (Giant taking Giant steps)

·         Natural Weaponry for Talons and Beak. I removed the poor penetration weakness that the Hawk has because of it being King Size

·         I had 20 points left, So I wanted to make a unique power for the Roc. I remember the wonderful Japanese Monster movies (Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah) where the winged monsters could flap their wings blowing the military vehicles away. So I gave it to Roc too. It is a Repulsion Blast which is a kinetic blast that causes knockback only. Protection abilities reduce the amount as does the target's Mass roll. Because of King Size I made it a 5" area attack.

Let me know what you think.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Tom,

Outstanding as ever and love the wing beat repulsion - I play a lot of Age of Wonders 3 and also love those movies!

Thank you as this must have taken a lot of time; so, appreciated. Your level of GM'ing is awesome!

Thanks again,

Steve

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Honestly, Tom's a better PBEM GM than I am in person... really puts in the work.

And I totally agree!  Thanks, Tom, for all you do!

Jon

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank for the kind words.  You, my players, make all it worthwhile.  No way I would have made it 11 years and to the upcoming issue 75 of the Crusade without all of you.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I need to know what Patty Plus is doing this turn.  I have actions for all the other PCs.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

"OK, time to make a real entrance! Be right back, don't stop the party without me!" Patty yells playfully to cover her nervousness, then directs her astral form back to her unconscious body with all possible haste.

----

Patty Plus will do exactly as you recommended and push to have enough movement to make it to the Lab this turn.

For some reason, I was thinking I was in the next building over where the surveillance is occurring.

However, I still would like to get your thoughts on what can and can't be done while in astral form :D The book seems to indicate more than I would assume.

Best,

Shane

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

You are correct and that is where Dr. Wildman had to go with his teleport portal as he was never on the roof of the building that the Destroyers are in

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The plot thins! Thanks for the clarification.

Best,

Shane

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually, I’m not sure I ever said that The Black Orchid would continue her attack on Ratman, but she will, to keep his attention on her and not the others.
