Notes: (Secret Unknown to Megalopolis World)
Relatives: William Arthur DeBrandt /Father(Deceased); Ingrid Louise DeBrandt-Carter/Mother (Deceased); Louise Anastasia DeBrandt/Sister(Deceased)
Profession: Corporate Owner of DeBrandt Industries / Adventurer
History:
Family History: Philippe’ DeBrandt was a French American entrepreneur who made his fortune building and selling arms to both the United and Confederate States of America. His innovative designs and manufacturing processes seemed ahead of his time. DeBrandt Arms Associated grew even after the Civil War as the nation was reforged and marched ahead.
The beginning of WWI heralded even greater levels of success for the company and the family DeBrandt. Maximillian DeBrandt pushed the envelope on weapon and munitions design. He ruled his corporation with an iron fist through the end of WWII. Age and stress took its toll on him and he died, leaving the family fortune and company to William Barnard DeBrandt. Through both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, DAA saw prosperous growth and stability. In 1975, he turned control of the company over to his son, William Arthur DeBrandt.
Under his guidance, DAA widened its scope of military hardware. The latest in computerized equipment and electronically controlled weaponry were brought to the modern war front with his vision. He was a ruthless and power hungry man who sought to control the world through superior weapons and firepower. This was the environment young Alexander was raised in.
The Formative Years:
Alexander was sent to the finest schools. As such, he was expected to be the very best at everything he attempted. Young Alex was never afforded the luxury of failure. Never once was less than perfect accepted. His only joy and escape was through the loving relationship he had with his older sister, Louise. When the pressures of his father’s expectations became too great, Louise was there for him. She was as warm and comforting as his mother was cold and distant. Without her support, Alex never would have become as strong as his father demanded. In the fields of computer technologies, Alex out raced even his father’s daunting hopes. Alex was a natural born scientist and engineer. That talent was forged into a precise instrument to carry the family’s business into the next century. Through it all, Louise was there to care for him.
Teen Tragedy:
At the age of 15, he began to outgrow his father’s expectations and demands. His own goals and aspirations began to flourish in his mind. He had been formed into his father’s successor. His inventions and innovations had already profited the family company. It was then that he began to move in his own directions. His father gave him control over a research facility in Florida, north of Miami. With a team of scientists and fabricators, Alex began to create weapons of impossible magnitude for the company. Many of which were deemed ‘Too Effective’ by the military. His father was more than pleased. As a reward, His father, mother and sister were flying in for a surprise visit. The plane mysteriously exploded in mid-flight. When news reached Alex, he was devastated at the loss of his dear sister. He mourned for his parents but there was little tying them together, emotionally. The death of Louise, however, tore his heart in two. Only a teen and dealing with the loss of his dear, innocent sister, Alex was an easy target for the board of directors. Many of the board had plans of their own and made moves within the court system to be made the legal controlling body of the company until Alex turned twenty-one and could assume the reigns of the company.
During those six years, Alex became more and more, bitter and convinced that his competitors had been behind the death of his family. Little by little the board became bolder. They eventually voted to take the company public. Alex’s ownership of the company began to slip through his fingers. In a rage of frustration and loss, Alex had a profound vision of his revenge and triumph. Using his own influence and money, he squirreled away a portion of the company and cloistered himself away in a research facility. The board was convinced he had given up and counted him as gone. It was a fatal mistake. In a short six months, Alex had produced a prototype battle suit and improved upon it. Dominator was born.
Key members of the board met with having home and property destroyed by the new super villain menace. He used his newly created power to rein destruction down upon his competitors as well. Important experiments and tests were simply wiped out before they could be evaluated. His actions did not go unnoticed by Florida’s finest, the Indestructibles. With an epic foe before him, his plans and goals grew more and more elaborate. His thirst for power became unquenchable. For years, his plans were thwarted by the super hero team. But he rose each time with better equipment and a better plan. This continued until shortly after his 22nd birthday. The Indestructibles finally beat him. He was incarcerated and convicted on several counts of assault and property damage.
His Sentence:
Stripped of his vaunted technology, even his money failed to keep him from prison. The courts showed no mercy to the man who would claim the world. He was transferred to a maximum security prison to serve out the 40 years of his sentence. He had been placed with common thugs, rapists and murders. The struggles and trials of his early life came into stark contradiction of his then current hardship. He was not spared for his money and power. The horrors of life in a maxi-prison became all too clear for him. He became a model prisoner. He put in time in all parts of the prison. He called in his legal team as well as his accountants. DeBrandt Arms Associated had been devastated by his arrest. The value of the company’s stock plummeted. Several important government contracts were lost while DAA was investigated for involvement in Dominator’s activities. Early on in his stay at the prison, Alex was given a new vision of the future, a brighter, more evolved vision. Prison was filled with desperate men forced into nearly impossible circumstances. Some of those within the walls, like him, had chosen a life of violence out of desire and not need. But so many more were there out of the consequences of their desperation. By the time he had reached 10 years of his sentence, he was released on parole.
His New Plan:
Because of the decline in DAA stock prices and value, Alex was able, through his legal team and accountants, to purchase all but 3% of the company’s stock. The family business was once again his. Returning to his RND facility, he destroyed the plans and extra copies of the Dominator suit. He then contacted the Citizens Against Proper Evolution Regression (C.A.P.E.R.). With the help of the Civil Liberties group, he applied for separation under the Superhero Reclamation Act and had all of Dominator’s felonies removed from his personal record. He then set about changing his view, literally. Relocating DAA’s headquarters to Megalopolis, Alex began the process of legally reorganizing the company. Having a new R&D lab and production facility, he began work on his newest creation, The Centurion X suit.
