Crossover: To the Stairs! - Issue 10

Location: Stonehenge, England

The battle against the forces of the Domain and its allies, The Tarot Masters raged. The heroes had successfully destroyed a key part of the Matter Vacuum device. The force field protecting the Matter Vacuum Tower was down. This allowed the heroes to enter from multiple locations instead of a single entrance

The Heroes (Thunderhead, Elwood and Harvey, Adamas, Molecule Man, Dynamo, Skylark, and American Woman) that had been engaged with the initial wave of Tarot Masters Major Arcanna, which everyone referred to as “The Flyers” had defeated all but three of them. These Heroes flew toward the Tower leaving two behind to search for the remaining Tarot Masters

Blastar and Klondike searched the coral for Super Nova, Mother Superior, and Sister Indigo. They were unable to find them and were unaware that Super Nova had already fled the fight. (As seen in Issue #9 of Crossover Event, ~ed.)

Mother Superior and Sister Indigo both decided it was a lost cause and flew away as well.

As the Heroes (Thunderhead, Elwood and Harvey, Adamas, Molecule Man, Dynamo, Skylark, and American Woman) flew toward the Matter Vacuum Tower they passed over two single fighters engaged in a sword duel.

Clank, Clank, swords swiped and parried each other as the two swordsman prepared for their attack.

[32] Lightning Fist found his desired opening first. He attacked with a lower to higher sword stroke. His Katana cut the chin strap on the Knight of Pentacle helmet. The force of the blow knocked his helmet off. Lightning Fist followed the attack up with a step behind sidekick which landed squaring on the Knight’s jaw knocking him out.

THUD!

The Knight landed on the ground incapacitated.

Lightning Fist paused to catch his breath. He pulled a silver shuriken from this belt. Tossing it onto the armored breastplate of his fallen foe he said. “You were a worthy opponent but you are far from being the best swordsman.”

Lightning Fist continued to catch his breath as he surveyed the battlefield in attempt to figure out what he should do next.

The Heroes (Thunderhead, Elwood and Harvey, Adamas, Molecule Man, Dynamo, Skylark, and American Woman) arrived at the Matter Vacuum Tower. In the distance they saw a single hero with a horde of zombies. At the entrance of the Tower they saw other heroes fighting more zombies in an effort to gain entrance into the Tower.

[34] Tomahawk stepped over the Zombie he had defeated. He ran through the doorway into the Tower.

[25] In the distance, as the zombie horde began to circle Phantom, an almost coy yet sadistic smirk ran across his face, "That's it . . . just a little closer . . ." he thought to himself. The hungry swarm of animated flesh began to form a wall around him and he knew it was time to finally execute the final part of his plan . . . he had drawn them in close enough. Using all the strength he could muster, Phantom crouched down and then sprung backward as if he were diving backward into a swimming pool.

As his feet left the ground, the Alabaster Avenger took a grenade from his equipment harness and threw it at the empty space he had just occupied. The grenade tumbled through the air towards it destination like an out of control football. Just as the grenade came within a few feet of hitting the ground, Phantom fired off two pistol rounds at it.

KKAABOOMM!!!

The grenade caught the surrounding zombies in its explosion.

The blast harmlessly passed by the Zombie that was standing in the ash area created by the tank explosion.

The blast caught a Zombie to the west with full force knocking it out.

The blast caught another Zombie to the west with full force knocking it out.

The blast caught a Zombie to the east of the blast with full force knocking it out.

The blast caught a Zombie to the northeast of the blast with full force knocking it out.

The blast caught a Zombie that was northwest of the blast with full force knocking it out.

The blast caught a Zombie that was north of the blast with full force knocking it out.

Phantom’s leap was not far enough to get him out of the blast radius but the blast passed harmlessly below him.

[21] Volcanic Man missed with his punch at the Zombie in front of him.

[19] As the Heroes approached the tower, Adamas used his heightened vision to survey the battlefield, and spotted the surviving zombie from Phantom’s grenade explosion and those in front or behind the Tower.  He fired his power blast autofire style from his eyes power to try to provide some assistance.  Six power blast shot across the battlefield.

The first shot struck the Zombie that was standing in the ash area created by the tank explosion. The shot destroyed the back of the Zombie. It fell to the ground unmoving.

The second shot struck the Zombie on the back side of the Tower. Its head was destroyed. It fell to the ground unmoving.

The third shot struck the Zombie that Volcanic Man was fighting. The blast ripped off the arm of the Zombie but it was still standing.

The fourth shot struck the Zombie that Volcanic Man was fighting. The head of the Zombie was blasted off. It fell to the ground unmoving.

The fifth shot struck the Zombie that Resonator was next to. The head exploded from the blast. It fell to the ground unmoving.

The sixth shot missed the Zombie that was in front of Kali.

{GM Note: Adamas did not received his initiative bonus this turn because he was not moving under his own power but was being carried by Thunderhead}

Thunderhead was pleasantly surprised to meet Psimon in 2013. Unlike Psimon, who was acting as if they hadn't seen each other in 80 years, Thunderhead had just seen Psimon only last month. Still, to see a familiar face in this alien landscape was a welcome development. It didn't last long.

"Disappeared? What do you mean?" Thunderhead asked. But by the time he got the question out, he had already hit upon the answer. He never went back to 1931 because he died, here, in this battle.

This knowledge of his own history, given to him by a man from the future, only made the giant of justice more determined to succeed in his mission. His brow wrinkled in thought, Thunderhead scanned the approaching tower with steely conviction.

As they hurtled to the Tower, Thunderhead asked Adamas and Elwood, "Can we enter it from a higher level? Or attack the Tower itself?"

Flying next to them was American Woman, Dynamo, Skylark, and Molecule Man. Molecule Man had transformed from his Diamond form into his gaseous Hydrogen form.

Dynamo replied instead, “Both courses of action are doable. If we attack the Tower itself we run the risking of it collapsing on our friends and allies inside. I would rather we attack one of the levels.”

American Woman said, “But which one? If we wait to pick one until we can see exactly what the threat is they will be able to shoot at us. I don’t like being shot at; it’s bad for my complexion.”

Molecule Man replied, “Who cares which of the Tarot Masters are waiting for us. Let’s pick one level and start bashing equipment and heads.”

America Woman sighed and looked at Thunderhead, “Do all you men only think with your fists?”

"No," he said to American Woman. "We don't."

American Woman returned a flirtatious smile to Thunderhead’s response.

Skylark replied, “I disagree, a direct forceful approach is a favorite tactic of the Peratonian military. I think it is an appropriate course of action now.”

All four looked to Adamas, Elwood, and Thunderhead for their opinions.

Thunderhead said, "I like the roof... the high ground. We can work our way down as our ground forces work their way up... a vertical pincer movement. We'll squeeze our foes on the middle floors, instead of being squeezed by them. If the enemy charges the roof, those that can't fly will be caught in a line on the stairwell."  The veteran of the Great War looked at his new trench mates to listen to everyone else's input.

To Thunderhead and the new arrivals Adamas said, "I believe we should start at the top and work our way down.  It appears those on the lower floor have done a good job and cleaning it out, and they'll probably soon be moving up.  If we can clear off those ghouls on top, we can meet them in the middle, and focus all of our forces on one battle."

Thunderhead nodded with agreement to attacking the top floor as he hurtled toward the tower at 300 MPH!

The Heroes flew to the top of the Tower.

[18] Enforcer fired his liberated Tarot Master pistol at a Zombie. The enchanted bullet destroyed the head. The Zombie fell to the ground unmoving. Enforcer looked at the pistol. “Not bad balance. The sight is a little imprecise but obviously it gets the job done.”

[17] A Zombie missed with an attempt bite of Kali.

[16] Kali didn’t miss with her power-chucks strike. The Zombie fell to the ground unmoving. “Yuck, I hate fighting undead things.”

[16] Dreamweaver moved to TK blast the Zombie in front of her. She tripped and fell. Her blast shattered the ground between her and the Zombie.

[16] Resonator pointed his palm at the Zombie standing over Dreamweaver. His sonic wave liquefied the upper torso of the Zombie. It fell to the ground unmoving. “I always like to pay it forward.”

[14] The Zombie to the right of Kali attacked her. It missed with its attempted grab.

[10] Evergreen attacked the Zombie which had just attacked Kali. She ran her thorns through its chest. It fell to the ground unmoving. Evergreen stared at it. As plants started to grow from when the thorns had been, she smiled. “Zombies make the best fertilizer.”

The Heroes arrived above the rooftop.

The Domain Demons were being lead by the Northside Abomination {GM Note: Abomination 1 on placing pieces). It carried a large club and was pointing to where the other creatures should be standing. They were readying for the coming attack.

[35] Dynamo said, “I got the gator demon!” She fired two electrical zaps at it. Both struck its armor hard. It rolled with the damage but the armor was damage, revealing gaps which could be exploited in future attacks.

[24] American Woman swooped to the side of the Tower away from the Abominations. “Lets pick off the little ones first.” She fired a light ray at Southside Slime {Slime 1}. Her ray missed.

[21] The Demon XO’J at the farthest north stared its single eye at Thunderhead. It focused it powerful mind. The Psy Blast missed.

[20] Elwood jumped down from Thunderhead’s arms. He quickly ran to hide on the other side of the Tower from the Abominations. He called for Harvey to do the same.

[19] Adamas had Thunderhead toss him toward the west side of the Tower. He landed in front of Elwood using his body as a shield to protect Elwood from any attacks the Slimes might make.

[17] Molecule Man floated over toward the gator demon {Horror}. He reach out both of his gaseous hands. They exploded. The first had ripped more armor off the demon. The second explosion missed causing no damage. “Ha, Now this is a totally different form of gator wrestling.”

[15] The Horror turned its mouth toward Molecule Man. It release a toxic gas from it lungs. Fortunately the gas failed to mixed with Molecule Man hydrogen based gasous form. He was unhurt.

[15] Skylark said, “I rather take out the big’uns first.” She fired her sonic scream at the Crawler. It rolled with the sonic damage.

[13] Slime 1 fired a power blast at America Woman. The blast hit her true and hard. She rolled as best as she could but she was hurt. She signalled to Adamas she could still fight and would continue.

[13] Slime 2 missed with a power blast at Adamas.

[13] The Crawler fired a sonic scream of its own at Skylark. The scream missed her.

[1] As Thunderhead flew down to crash into the nearest Abomination. It had been waiting for the attack. It struck at Thunderhead before he could strike. Its fiercesome punch missed.

[1] Thunderhead crashed into Abomination 2 with his full weight. He powerful fist connected with its jaw. The Demon Prince rolled with the blow and bellowed in pain. It continued to stand and faced his opponent with grim determination. The fight was on.

Below where the Heroes fought on top of the Tower there raged another battle on the ground floor.

[35] Epsilon said, “Keep at it! We are wearing them down!” He fired two TK blasts at the Queen of Swords. Both blasts missed.

[34] Tomahawk came running through the door. “Who needs help?” Condor replied, “Help Magnetor against the Hierophant.” Tomahawk charged the flaming Ace of Swords. He hit with his magical tomahawk. The magical flame aura surrounding Hierophant protected him from the damage. Tomahawk missed with a follow up punch.

[28] Archer used 4 arrows in a dual attack on Snowman. Each attack had a Paralysis arrow and normal arrow. Using his Marksmanship ability he targeted the icy villain in the ear.

TWIP!

The first normal arrow struck Snowman in the ear. It was covered with armor. The arrowed chipped a hole in the armor on the side of the icy villain’s face.

TWIP!

The first paralysis arrow missed.

TWIP!

The second normal arrow missed.

TWIP!

The second paralysis hit. The arrow discharged the chemical mixture in its special arrow head. Snowman gave a slight moan, rolled his eyes, and fell to the ground. He lay on the ground unable to move, paralyzed!

[24] Priestess struggled against the wire cage she was held it. She flexed enough to place a foot of DarkStar’s knee and push up with her hands on his arms. She didn’t pull herself away from him but up toward his face. The Priestess had launched herself to the point where she was eye to eye with Joshua.

She kissed him!

The Cobalt Commander felt the last of his energy drain from him. The Priestess smiled as she fell from the embrace. “That was better than I ever imagined it would have been Joshua. Did that leave you feeling drain?” She asked with an evil smile on her ruby lips.

{GM Note: DarkStar is now fatigued. He immediately receives the following penalties:

1.     All movement is cut to one-half normal speed.

2.     All Basic Characteristics, for purposes of saving throws, are cut to one-half

3.     The Character’s effective Carrying Capacity is cut to one-half.

4.     All damage inflicted is cut one-half, rounded up.

Any further Power expenditures are extracted from the character’s Hit Points now that the Character’s Power is gone}.

[24] The FOUR of Swords missed with a pistol shot at Epsilon.

[24] Condor swooped around. He struck the King of Swords with a punch. He damaged the King’s armor. “It is time for a showdown between the King and I.” Condor laughed at his own joke.

[23] The Knight of Swords missed with a shot at Epsilon.

[22] The NINE of Swords missed with a pistol shot at Epsilon

[22] Black Orchid left the ground floor taking the stairs to the second floor.

[22] Magnetor fired his mag ray pistol at Hierophant. The ray struck the Ace of Swords. The magical flame aura protected him from the damage.

[20] The Queen of Swords missed with a pistol shot at Epsilon

[18] War Wagon fired his liberated Tarot Master’s pistol at the Knight of Swords. His shot missed.

[18] Red Hawk fired a vibe blast at Hierophant hitting him. The vibe blast penetrated the magical flame aura. Hierophant rolled with the blast.

[17] The King of Swords put his pistol away and drew his two handed sword. The swung it at Condor. He hit the armored chest of Condor putting a small slice in the armor. After a moment’s pause, Condor rolled his eyes to the top of his head. He fell to the ground unconscious. He had been paralyzed by the Enchanted Two Handed Sword of Eternal Sleep.

{GM Note: Sword with paralysis carrier attack. Both attacks were successful}

[17] Raven flew toward the side of the King of Swords. He attempted to rake him with both sets of claws on his hands. His attacks missed.

[17] Space Racer sped up from where he was flying. He flew around the room 10 times building speed as he went. After the tenth lap he turned an arc as he flew upon from behind of the Hierophant. With both fists raised he said, “My force field vs. your flame aura, let’s find out which gives in first.”

BLAM!

Space Racer slammed into the back of the Hierophant. The magical flame aura protected only a little. The two warriors collided together in a heap on a ground. Slowly from the flames arose a single figure.

It was Space Racer. He had knocked out the Ace of Swords.

{GM Note: Space Racer moved 480” this turn. He had a -4 to hit but gained 2d10 in velocity damage if successful, which he was}

[17] Slightly frustrated that his and Red Hawk's "Grab-n-Smash" did not work, The Stellar-Powered Sentinel let out an audible "Crap! Not exactly what I was hoping for Red Hawk." Now that Snowman and Hierophant who Red Hawk had attacked earlier were both down. Starbolt flew to better position himself to attack the King of Swords. In the direction his new dance partner faced, Starbolt let loose with a two-fisted blast.

ZWAP! ZWAP!

The first shot missed.

The second hit the King of Swords. It got past the ornamental power armor sticking him hard. The King of Swords rolled with the damage and grunt in pain. He had been hurt but he was still able to fight.

He met Starbolt with a fierce gaze daring him to attack him again.

[15] Seeing that DS was so successful in bashing Bulwark into unconsciousness with the Priestess, CX decided that it’s worth a try himself.  Reaching out with his magnetic control, he took up the still bound Priestess and used her as a lead up the stairs.  The villainess was forced to take point in the zombie filled environment.  CX followed from the foot of the stairs

[14] DarkStar had Cybil inform him of known location heroes with StarCorp comm-devices. Cybil informed him on the location of all heroes except for The Wraith and The Cure. The Wraith had not responded to any communication and the comm. tracking signal could not penetrate all the interference in the area.

The Cure had removed the comm. unit early in the battle. Cybil had lost visual tracking of her during the tank explosion and had never been able to reestablish it since.

DarkStar used Cybil to tap into the floating spy-eyes he sent to the top of the next level. Cybil played back on his gauntlet the few seconds of the shadowy figures on the second. The screen showed a slender female raise her hand. A bright light flashed like lighting then the signal for all the spy-eyes showed a split second of static then nothing. Cybil informed Joshua all the spy-eyes had been short circuited and were inoperable. DarkStar head up the stairs as Centurion X and Black Orchid had done before.

[22] Black Orchid moved up the stairs silently and invisibly. She spotted the Power Generator on the North side of the Tower. She made her way there silently

[21] SIX of Cups detected hidden movement as she passed by him. He turned to alert the King of Cups.

Black Orchid blasted him with her vacuum blast in an effort to silence him. He groaned with being suddenly caught in the freezing cold. While he felt his energy deserting him he had enough to speak.

“King there is someone here with us. We must search for it with our other senses because it has the ability to hide itself from our eyes.” The Six of Cups pointed toward where Black Orchid was standing.

[15] Centurion X used the Priestess as a lead up the stairs.  The villainess was forced to take point in the zombie filled environment.  CX followed from the foot of the stairs.  Seeing another flaming villain make a great target in the low light, he sent the Priestess club up side their...  Well, he was going to get hit with her. Centurion X said, “Well, Miss Holier-Than-Thou, it seems your head makes quite the battering ram.  Let’s see if This-Jerk is any hardier than Bul-Wack."

 WHAM!!!

Priestess missed the Ace of Cups but smashed into the side of the Gravity Generator. She groaned in pain. She yelled to Centurion X, “That the worse you can do metal face? Why don’t you remove your helmet? I promise I can take your breath away like I did for DarkStar.”

[15] Moonflash launched a lightning web at CX. The web missed clinging instead to the column sending electrical sparks off where it touched.

[14] DarkStar looked up from the stair well to see if he could identify what had destroyed his spy-eyes.

I'm absolutely loving the zombie attack on Phantom, Tom! Quick question regarding this statement:

[6] In the swarm a Zombie grabbed Phantom. The savage hands ripped at his armor and Phantom rolled with the damage.

{GM Note: Zombie did 6 damage points: -5 to Armor and -1 to Power Points}

Does this mean that the zombie and Phantom are 'locked-up' together for the moment or was this just a HTH attack that you described as a 'grab'? I'm good either way - I just wanted a clarification; because depending on which situation is actually the case, this will have a big hand ( no pun intended ) in determining what Phantom does next.

-Kev

HtH attack described as a grab. You both are not 'locked-up' together.

IC:  Seeing that DS was so successful in bashing Bulwark into unconsciousness with the Priestess, CX decides that its worth a try himself.  Reaching out with his magnetic control he takes up the still bound Priestess and slams her into the Snowman as they are the only two that CX sees awake.

"Well, Miss Holier-Than-Thou, it seems your head makes quite the battering ram.  Lets see if Snow-Job is any hardier than Bul-Wack."   WHAM!!!

OOC:  A few things could possibly happen here.
1).  2 birds / 1 stone.  CX hits the mark and both fall unconscious.  CX releases the Priestess and will wait to follow DS' lead.
2).  1 Bird / 1 Stone.  Hits successfully but only Snowman is knocked out.  Continues to carry Priestess for use on next target.
3).  1 Bird / 1 Stone.  Part II   Hits successfully but only Priestess is knocked out.  Releases the Priestess and prepares to whack Snow Blower with another attack.
4).  Swing and a Miss.  Unsuccessful attack.  Will continue to hold Priestess to use as a weapon against Snow man or other foe.
5).  Beaten to the punch.  Someone manages to knock out Snowman before CX can act.  Please use the following instead:    Seeing that DS was so successful in bashing Bulwark into unconsciousness with the Priestess, CX decides that it’s worth a try himself.  Reaching out with his magnetic control, he takes up the still bound Priestess and uses her as a lead up the stairs.  The villainess is forced to take point in the zombie filled environment.  CX will follow from the foot of the stairs.  Any villain that presents themselves as a target will get a Priestess club up side their...  Well, they'll get hit with her.  (Hopefully)    Well, Miss Holier-Than-Thou, it seems your head makes quite the battering ram.  Lets see if This-Jerk is any hardier than Bul-Wack."   WHAM!!!

Archer OOC:  Hey woo action all over with good and bad guys dropping left and right. Thunderhead and the coming together of the other heroes might just push the good guys over the top in this battle of attrition.  I have a query Tom. I think I know the answer but want to be sure. Since Archer's trick arrows do not use the carrier attack rule (thus reducing his damage potential with them - which is cool) I ''assume' they attack just as their description. With the caveat their "To Hit" is based on his martial art ability with the bow. Does this mean an attack like the paralysis arrow will bypass things like Armor and Invulnerability. After watching the effects of the Priestess Devitalization Ray on DarkStar it occurred to me there a handful of attacks out there that might bypass his Invulnerability in a similar ish manner.

PS: Where is Cure?  DS could use some big time field support if she is available.

Thanks. Cool issue. Had blast with Adamas playing wack a mole on Supernova.
John

-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Just following your lead boss. :)  Hitting him with the cage... brilliant!

Jon

-------------------------------------------------------------
That is true on that alternate attack of an arrow enjoys all the benefits that the normal power has. So paralysis and devitalization arrows would impact the same as that power does itself.

Cure has fled the battle field. No one knows where she is or what has become of her.

OOC: Thanks for the info on the info on the mechanics of the gadget arrows. Joy and bane on one ruling lol. I do love the interpretative nature of the rules of V&V ... some days more, some days less LOL

DarkStar OOC: I need/want to translate some OOC into IC knowledge for DS if possible. Now that Black Orchid has brought down the shields I have two questions. I will be putting all this in a IC Response regardless of your reply. Darn Laptop is down right now though.

1) Using his engineering and tactical knowledge skills with the information he has on the Matter Vacuum, "Does Joshua Rose think it is a good or bad idea too rip out the four pylons on the first floor holding up the Tower?" Player has lost his way in the intricacies of the story and needs the super-intelligence of the character to come into play.

2) After asking for a Roll Call, when Commander Rose task Cybil to locate the non-responsive members of the Guardians (Quest) "How long before he gets an answer from the missing members location? Even not being able to find them this turn will effect Joshua's responses and Actions this Turn. I'd just form the Response right now but my laptop is down and hate trying anything creative on the tiny iPhone screen :-)

Thanks Tom

"No," he said to American Woman. "We don't."

Thunderhead would attempt collect as many of the four new heroes as he could into his titanic grasp (with their permission of course; in order to bestow his Evasion across as many heroes as possible) as he hurtled toward the tower at 300 MPH!

OOC:

Tom, if I'm reading the rules on Size Change correctly, TH's ranges are multiplied by his Height Factor,. Does this mean his vision is like 4X binoculars when he's big?

Either way...

Can you please describe any visible entrances to the Tower?

How many floors does it have?

What activity is visible on each floor, and the "roof," if any?

Thanks. He's looking for the easiest way in (least physical barriers/ least defenders to fight), that is closest to the Matter Vacuum.

Best,

Jeff
-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Thanks for the questions.

1. DarkStar realizes it will take 4 turns to rip the 4 pylons (1 per turn because of the distance between them he can't do more than 1 a turn). He knows that doing that will not only bring down the Tower but its collapse will destroy the rest of Stonehenge injuring any allies outside as well as inside.

This would definitely defeat England's objective of using a surgical strike superhero strike team to preserve the historical site and nearby communities.

DarkStar can see that the computer equipment are still receiving power which means there must be more power generators on the upper floors. If one of the power generators would explode with the equivalent force of a small nuclear bomb then bringing the Tower down would trigger at least the equivalent of a large nuclear bomb. Destroying both of the nearby towns of Wiltshire and Amesbury.

2. Because of the Weather conditions including the Fission Fallout Particles it will that Cybil 1 turn to identify all active comm. signals with the exception of Magus and Cure. Because of the Ice impeding with the signal it will take Cybil 2 turns to locate Magus. Cybil will not be able to locate Cure because she removed both her comm unit and amulet. If Cybil tries a Satellite search for her she will have a 20% chance of finding her after 3 turns and it will increase by 5% each turn afterwards. The chance of finding her by Satellite is capped at 75%. Then it takes as long it takes to roll under 75.

OOC: I have attached a view from the side.

With the force field down all floors are accessible. All floors are accessible by open airway, no walls.

There are 4 floors (counting the ground floor as 1).

There are equipment and activity on all floors. You can dimly see grotesque figures moving about on each of its four decks. As far as you can tell the Matter Vacuum is on every floor (all the equipment make up the Matter Vacuum).

Size Change effecting sight, wow, that is a question I haven't thought about. I think vision ability doesn't change unless it is shrinking down to the special categories. I am afraid if the Height Factor is applied to sight then it could be argued to see 4x farther but the flip side he would have difficulty seeing normal things close up because they are so small. Instead of opening that headache, I think vision will be normal with the Height Factor only be used to show the extended movement and reach plus his being easier to hit.

Best

Tom

--------------------------------------------------------------
Quick Clarification: The 4 turns to rip out the pylons wasn't said with the factoring in the amount of damage needed. Depending on rolls for damage it could take longer than a single turn to rip out one pylon

OOC:

Hi

Ok. Thanks.

Does any floor seem to have less grotesque figures than the others? Any grotesque figures on the roof?

All the superhero activity is on the first floor, correct?

Thanks,

Jeff
-------------------------------------------------------------
The roof has the most grotesque and there are 6 of them.

On the other 2 floors (middle two) there are 16 human looking people. the grotesqueness is more attributable to being super powered instead of potentially being Domain Demons like the roof appears to be.

Correct, the Superhero fight is on the first (ground) floor.

OOC: Thanks Tom.

>>Skylark replied, “I disagree, a direct forceful approach is a favorite tactic of the Peratonian military. I think it is an appropriate course of action now.”

All four looked to Adamas, Elwood, and Thunderhead for their opinions.<<

Thunderhead said, "I like the roof... the high ground. We can work our way down as our ground forces work their way up... a vertical pincer movement. We'll squeeze our foes on the middle floors, instead of being squeezed by them. If the enemy charge the roof, those that can't fly will be caught in a line on the stairwell."  The veteran of the Great War looked at his new trench mates to listen to everyone else's input.

OOC:

If we go for the roof, maybe we all save our actions? Then we could all land on the final phase of this turn and BAM, seven heroes with full actions, all ready to go at once. We can each target a different creature on the roof. With any luck, they aren't saving their actions. Thoughts, everyone?

Best,

Jeff

OOC: lmao Tom. Tha is for the input. Will try to slip most that into DS response and action. Please be patient. Until I get my laptop fixed might take a bit to post through my phone.

There will definitely be no yanking and pulling of pylons. While two towns might be a small price to pay to save the world, I don't think we are quite there yet. LOL. Of course CX might have his own ideas (wink ;-) )

@ Jeff - I do not know if it is what you were looking for, but with the right role-play slant the special effect of Thunderhead's "Increased Scale" proportionally increased ranges and areas of effect might work for you. Something I need to remember in AoA for Crude when I get that up again ;-)

Adamas IC: As they approach the tower, Adamas uses his heightened vision to survey the battlefield, and spots Phantom surrounded by the hoard of Zombies.  He will use his autofire to try to provide some assistance.

To Thunderhead and the new arrivals, "I believe we should start at the top and work our way down.  It appears those on the lower floor have done a good job and cleaning it out, and they'll probably soon be moving up.  If we can clear off those ghouls on top, we can meet them in the middle, and focus all of our forces on one battle."

Jon

-------------------------------------------------------------
I need more specific details. How much power is Adamas going to spend on the autofire? Is he going to target the zombies farthest from Phantom or is he going to fire right on top of Phantom?

Thanks
Tom

------------------------------------------------------------
Adamas will go with six blasts around Phantom, Not directly on top of him.

Tom

My apologies for nor getting DarkStar or Archer's responses in this issue.  My laptop has been down almost a month and I have been suffering acute back pain for the past two weeks. Trying to Pi anything creative together has been practically impossible due to inability to focus

1) Archer will use 4 arrows in a dual attack on Snowman. Each attack will have a Paralysis arrow and normal arrow. Using his Marksmanship ability he will target the icy villain in the ear. I know the trick arrow won't get a bonus for knockout but the normal one will. This gives him potentially 4 chances to knock Snowman in one go. Cross those fingers.

2) DarkStar will have Cybil inform him of known location heroes with StarCorp comm-devices. Since he usually act last for the heroes he will hold his action until last of the heroes have acted and team up against Snowman combat jumping from above and driving him into the ground if needed. If not needed he will use Cybil to tap into the floating spy-eyes he sent to the top of the next level and head up with whatever other heroes are doing the same

Sorry no soliloquy. Just can't this time
Thanks Again
John

Slightly frustrated that his and Red Hawk's "Grab-n-Smash" did not work, The Stellar-Powered Sentinel let out an audible "Crap! Not exactly what I was hoping for. Red Hawk, let's blast him from opposite sides. He can only face one direction so one of use is bound to get a free shot at his back." While communicating with Red Hawk, Starbolt flies to better position himself to attack. Regardless of which direction his dance partner faces, he will let loose with a two-fisted blast.

Thank you,

Jamey

Crossover: Closing on the Tower! - Issue 9

Location: Stonehenge, England

The battle against the forces of the Domain and its allies, The Tarot Masters raged. The heroes had successfully stolen a key part of the Matter Vacuum device. As the remaining heroes fought to prevent the Matter Vacuum Tower from being completed, Adamas was hiding in the coral to prevent the Tarot Master’s Major Arcana members from retrieving the stolen piece.

While this is happening a portal opened. Through that portal walked a single man.

Across the StarCorp secure communications network Cybil broadcasts a team wide announcement: Attention a new Meta has entered the combat zone. Query search revealed he is wearing the markings and attire of Thunderhead. Summary Info: Thunderhead was a Megalopolis Superhero that disappeared in 1932.

Thunderhead couldn't help but smile as he marveled to himself, "So this is 2013."

The two-fisted titan was genuinely surprised to see grass and stone ruins instead of floating cities, jet packs, and rocket-cars. Then he saw the Tower and the smile left his face. He glassed the battlefield with a pair of antique binoculars and the archaeologist in him noted the only few remaining pieces of Stonehenge. He returned the field glasses to their battered leather belt pouch.

Then he turned to the nearest heroes and said in a voice like thunder, "Hello, Adamas, Elwood, and Harvey of course. I'm called Thunderhead. Agent America sent me. I'm here to help you destroy the Matter Vacuum." He evinced the manners and way of speaking of generations gone by.

As Adamas heard the booming voice beyond the coral, he hears, "Agent America sent me." His heart leapt at the chance that his friend was still alive, and had sent aid.

Then Thunderhead grew in size to over twenty feet tall. The cloud cover gathered above him in a spiral of storm clouds where lightning arced and writhed. His feet left the ground as he hovered in the center of a sudden wind vortex.

Eyeing the Tower, the giant of justice made his hands into gigantic fists where lightning also arced and writhed. His jaw set with determination, he asked his fellow heroes, "How can I help?"

Sitting four feet above the ground and seemingly supported by nothing but air, Elwood looked up at the massive Thunderhead in joyful amazement.  He placed his feet on the ground, stood and cradled the back of his head with his right hand as he craned his neck to look up to the face of the newest party guest.  “Mr….Thunderhead!  It is a wondrous pleasure to meet you!”  Elwood was shouting.  “Let us make it a point to become better acquainted directly after these shenanigans are wrapped up!  You asked how you might best help and my dear friend Harvey suggests the tower over across the field be your destination.  There is an awful amount of ruckus going on there, and entirely too many good folks are being harmed.  But, before you go directly to that squabble, you might first help our friend Adamas who is being perused by some terribly aggressive types.”

Despite the surroundings that reminded him of the trenches of the Great War, Thunderhead smiled and said, "Pleasure to meet you Elwood. I've heard a lot about you. And Harvey. Let's go join the ruckus."

Thunderhead said to Adamas: "Destroy that machine, friend, if that's what they're after."

The Astral Projection of Psimon appeared before Thunderhead. Speaking telepathically he said, "Thunderhead is that really you? Is this where you disappeared to such a long time ago?"

There was no need for respond as Thunderhead knew that Psimon already knew the answer. Psimon was being polite as he read Thunderhead’s thoughts. It wasn’t a probe, Psimon had always been too much of a gentlemen to do that without permission.  Thunderhead knew Psimon from when they meet 1931. Thunderhead had just started out while Psimon had been active for 14 years by then. Psimon had been one the first two superheroes in Megalopolis, along with Freedom Eagle. Thunderhead was surprised to see that at least Psimon's consciousness still existed today.

Psimon caught Thunderhead up on the major events of the battle including letting him know that the others Thunderhead didn't know in the field with him are heroes: [nearest to furthest]Molecule Man, Skylark [North], American Woman [South], and Dynamo. The villains that Elwood referred to were unseen in the coral.

Psimon's answered Thunderhead’s questions without their having to be asked..

Why was the army of heroes are entering the tower at ground level, rather than flying into a higher level?

There was a force field protecting it which just came down and no one knows exactly what or where the Matter Vacuum is or how to stop it. The device could be on all levels. So each floor has to be investigated to figure out how to stop it.

Why weren’t they attempting to reduce the tower to rubble from the outside?

It was tried with a Nuclear Fission bomb but it did nothing to the force field or the Tower. It only destroyed Stonehenge and scattered the 2 forces. Psimon provided Thunderhead went a mental picture of a Nuclear Fission bomb detention since he had no idea what it was.

As Thunderhead reached out he discovered that the weather was already being controlled. He decided not to fight for control as it didn’t appear that was necessary to destroy the Matter Vacuum Tower.

[40] Adamas attempted to knock Super Nova out of the park holding the huge piece of machine like a giant baseball bat.

WHAM!

It shattered into pieces as it smashed into Super Nova. The flaming villain staggered a few steps but didn’t fall. He was barely able to stand as if he was standing on his last leg but he continued to fight.

Adamas began to carefully move out of the coral, leaving the destroyed piece of machine behind moving toward Thunderhead with haste.

[21] Blastar ran through the coral looking for Super Nova but can’t find him. He remained silent as he moved intent on not giving away his position or who he was chasing.

[20] Sister Indigo searched unsuccessfully for Adamas. Completely unaware he had left the coral. “Repent of the sin of theft. Come receive absolution and forgiveness. It is not the theft but the un-repentance that makes one a thief.”

[19] Once Adamas was out of the forest, Thunderhead carried Adamas and Elwood to the Tower, protecting and shielding them from harm, in case they are pursued. He was ready to evade any and all attacks.

{GM Note: Thunderhead used evasion this issue. It applies next issue as well. Since he is carrying Adamas and Elwood the evasion applies to them as well.}

Flying next to them was American Woman, Dynamo, Skylark, and Molecule Man. Molecule Man had transformed from his Diamond form into his gaseous Hydrogen form.

As they hurtled to the Tower, Thunderhead asked Adamas and Elwood, "Can we enter it from a higher level? Or attack the Tower itself?"

Skylark replied, “I disagree, a direct forceful approach is a favorite tactic of the Peratonian military. I think it is an appropriate course of action now.”

All four looked to Adamas, Elwood, and Thunderhead for their opinions.

[18] Mother Superior unsuccessfully searched for Adamas. Completely unaware there was no way she would find him hiding in the coral. “No one can run from Judgment. Your Judgment day has come and now it is time to face the consequences of your actions. Throw yourself at the mercy of the Judge. On your knees before me, criminal!”

[17] Super Nova fled deeper into the coral. He completely abandoned his quest for Adamas. The stolen flow divider was destroyed. He had nothing to return to his master. He had failed.

[14] Klondike continued his search for Mother Superior. He silently moved in the coral attempting to follow the sound of her voice. He was unsuccessful the coral bounced the sound waves in a manner he couldn’t figure out.

As the heroes flew toward the Tower they passed over the middle of the battlefield where heroes were leaving their down opponents. They ran toward the Tower with the exception of one.

[29] Lightning Fist held his katana in front of him. He pivoted to deliver a round kick but Knight of Pentacles ducked. Lightning Fist followed with a katana strike that the Knight parried with his sword.

[22] The Knight of Pentacles swiped with his sword striking Lightning Fist across the chest drawing blood. Lightning Fist grunted in pain but continued to fight.

Both men fought in silence. Focusing on the conflict at hand and allowing their swords to speak for themselves.

As Enforcer ran toward the Tower he stopped to relieve the incapacitated Tarot Master Troopers of their pistols.

At the Tower the Zombies continued to look for a way into the Tower as the heroes arrived.

[34] Tomahawk swung his ancestral weapon removing the head of a Zombie from its neck. The Zombie fell to the ground unmoving.

[20] Resonator slowly walked to the Tower. He raised his hand sending a sonic blast into the chest of a Zombie. The sonic wave blasted a large portion of the Zombie’s chest away. It continued to stand and fight. Resonator said, “Fall you damned thing, Fall!”

[19] Kali swung her power-chucks at a Zombie, missing.

[18] Beginning to feel swarmed by the zombie horde, the one man war-machine kicked himself into high-gear and launched a counter-attack on zombies. "You wanna fight? Then come and get it!" he barked out at his would-be killers. Quickly pivoting ninety degrees to his right, Phantom brought up both his pistols and fired at the two zombies closest to him.

The first of both shots missed but the second set of shots blew up the heads of both Zombies. They fell to the ground unmoving.

[17] A Zombie moved toward Phantom. It reached out to grab him but missed.

[17] Another Zombie moved toward Phantom but wasn’t able move close enough to him to attack.

[17] Across the field a Zombie reached for Kali but missed with its grab.

[15] Volcanic Man missed with the fiery punch he threw at a Zombie.

[15] Enforcer fired a shot at a Zombie with his Tarot Master pistol. The shot missed.

[14] A Zombie tried to grab Volcanic Man but failed.

[14] Behind the Tower, a Zombie moved to Phantom trying but failing to grab him.

[14] In front of the Tower another Zombie failed to grab Kali.

[14] Another Zombie successfully struck Volcanic Man, damaging his armor.

[14] Across the field another Zombie moved toward Phantom. It tried to climb the rock next to him to get at Phantom. The Zombie’s grab missed and it slipped on the rock. It sprawled on its side.

{GM Note: Fumble result. The Zombie is in an awkward position and has +4 to be hit until its phase next turn}
[14] Back in front of the Tower, Dreamweaver fired a TK Bolt at a Zombie and missed

[13] The Zombie tried to grab Dreamweaver but she dodged its hands.

[13] Behind a Tower, a Zombie moved toward Phantom. It wasn’t able to reach him.

[13] Another Zombie did reach Phantom. It tried to grab the Alabaster Avenger but missed.

[12] In front of the Tower, Evergreen attacked a Zombie that had attack Kali. She missed.

[11] Another Zombie tried to attack Resonator but failed.

[10] Behind the Tower a Zombie lumbered toward Phantom.

[6] In the swarm a Zombie grabbed Phantom. The savage hands ripped at his armor and Phantom rolled with the damage.

{GM Note: Zombie did 6 damage points: -5 to Armor and -1 to Power Points}

Inside the Tower a battle raged.

[37] Epsilon fired two TK bolts at Hierophant. Both bolts missed. Epsilon swore on his late wife’s grave. He would have to do better than this.

[34] Red Fury turned to face Fortress. She struck Fortress with her cutlass. Fortress stared in shock as his invulnerability failed to protect him. He had forgotten his weakness to iron and had gotten too close. Red Fury quickly performed a cross slash with her sword again. Fortress’s face paled as he was gravely hurt.

[30] CX smiled inside of his helmet.  He saw the archer shaking off the chill and coming too.  "Fall asleep at the party again and I'll write DUFUS on your forehead myself!  Heh heh."  The joking tone was obvious.

sniff, "My apologies Centurion-san. I seem to have caught a cold, but I am feeling much better now, thank you." From atop the equipment, the Archer used his perch to look across the amphitheater sized room. Pulling arrows from his quiver he prepared to provide fire support to those without DarkStar or Armorman's tough exteriors.

Seeing how easily Red Fury had hurt Fortress he decided to aide him. Archer fired four arrows at Red Fury’s head in succession. She ducked and dodged the first two but the third struck her hard. Red Fury stumbled but didn’t fall

{GM Note: 20% of unconsciousness rolled 85.}

The fourth arrow flew straight and true hitting Red Fury in the head again. She grabbed her head in pain but still didn’t fall.

{GM Note: 24% of unconsciousness rolled 51}

[24] Space Racer flew around the room and rammed into Snowman damaging his ice armor. He pivoted around to prepare for his next run.

[24] Starbolt and Red Hawk turned their attention towards Snowman, and attempted to duplicate their earlier success. "Red Hawk", Starbolt stated. "Let’s hit snowball with a grab and pummel."

Starbolt constructed foot clamps for Snowman. When he tried to grab Snowman with them he missed.

[23] Red Hawk blasted away with his vibratory power but missed his target.

[22] Snowman repaired his ice armor and fired an ice ray at Condor striking him. The ray missed Condor’s protective armor striking him instead. Condor rolled with the damage but was covered with more ice. He was having a hard time flying and the clinging ice was beginning to freeze and break his armor.

[22] Condor flew away from Snowman as he broke off the ice covering him. By the time he reached the end of the room he had successfully broken off and removed all of the clinging ice.

[22] The Knight of Swords missed with a pistol shot at Epsilon.

[22] Four of Swords missed with a pistol shot at the lone remaining Zombie in the Tower.

[21] The Black Orchid, having done her job at disabling the tower field can now concentrate on helping the others. "Alright big hitters, the tower shouldn't put up too much of a fight now. Does anyone need help near the vehicles? I believe I can fend off some radiation." She said trying to restore her awareness after working on the generators the last couple of rounds.

Armorman Junior replied, “No need to worry about the vehicles they are all destroyed. The battle is inside the Tower now. We need to focus of continuing to disable the Tower. We need to figure out how they were getting their equipment here and stop that. Without doing that they can easily repair or replace all the damage we have done so far.”

[21] Bulwark smiled at Armorman Junior. “You should quit worrying about mysteries that don’t concern you and worry about me instead.”

WHAM!

Bulwark struck Armorman Junior with a perfect hit. His punched bypassed the hero’s armor striking the man. Armorman Junior flew backwards across the room landing with a loud thud. He didn’t get back up. He had been knocked out.

{GM Note: Rolled a 1 for a crit hit, automatic miss of armor since its ADR was less than 100, 20% chance of unconsciousness rolled 17}

[20] NINE of Sword shot the last Zombie. It fell to the ground unmoving.

[20] Fortress make a fist and swung it is a motion at Red Fury. An earthen shaped fist raised from the ground on top a column striking Red Fury hard. She staggered a step from the beating she had be receiving lately. Fortress made a grim smile and motion an upper cut with his other fist. A huge earth column struck Red Fury. The earth fist smashed her hard. She fell to the ground incapacitated.

[19] FIVE of Swords tried to move over his fallen brethren as he fired a shot at Raven. His shot missed and he lost his balance and stumbled.

{GM Note: Rolled 20 for a fumble. He slipped so his has a +2 to be hit until his next turn phase}

[19] Raven attacks the FIVE of Swords with both fists. The first punch hit but the second missed. He knocked the Tarot Master out, incapacitating him.

[17] Hierophant, the Ace of Swords, charged over toward Fortress. He struck him with his fiery cutlass. Fortress fell to the ground unconscious.

{GM Note: 12% chance of unconsciousness rolled 8}

[17] Magnetor retrieved his magnetic device which he had has lost.

[16] Queen of Swords missed with her pistol shot at Epsilon.

[16] Centurion X turned to more pressing matters.  As Big Blue had requested aid in taking the big targets down, he was happy to oblige him.  Gathering the shattered girder and other bits of metal strewn about the battle field, Centurion X sent them flying across the room to encase Bulwark.  CX tried to guide some of the metal to form a steel blindfold across the monster's eyes.  He knew that this would not hold the enemy long, but hoped it’s long enough to let the others take him down.   "I am going to wrap up the meat!  How about some tenderizing!?"

Centurion X stared in shock as his efforts failed and the metal pieces fell to the ground having been unable to grab Bulwark.

[16] Too slow, we should have had this room cleared and headed to the second level by now, Time to try for two birds with one stone. Stepping from behind what looked like a generator Joshua saw the Archer scanning the room looking to protect the backs of heroes who might be leaving themselves open to a flank attack in the furious battle. "Any tricks left in that quiver bowman?" Stepping to the pile of steel wires intertwined by Centurion X's magnetic powers, "Sorry Priestess, I would normally never treat a lady like this, but sleeping in Cr’tegorf bed proves you're no lady. Picking up the heavy steel cage, DarkStar looked for an opening but before he could combat jump Priestess smiled and positioned her hands toward him.

“Dear Joshua, you look tired and emotionally drained. The stress of saving the world from itself must be getting to be too much for you. Here let me relieve you of all that strain.” Both of the Priestess’s hand glowed as she siphoned his energy from him. The Cobalt Commander felt his energy drain from him.

{GM Note: Dual devitalization ray attacks, one from each hand. Both hit for 23 damage points and 19 damage points. Invulnerability does not protect against this attack, -42 PP}

Priestess’s smile disappeared and a small frown appeared. Joshua remembered she would do this during their days together in MEDUSA. She believed it was cute and disarming at the same time.

“Oops my bad, that doesn’t relieve stress it just drains you of your life force. Why don’t you just ‘port to some nice beach and take a nap, Joshua?” Priestess’ frown turned into a little pout and then a very wicked smile.

DarkStar looked for an opening. Finding one with Bulwark he combat jumped above him slamming Priestess’ cage onto Bulwark.

{GM Note: Priestess weighed 140 pounds. I doubled the weight for the wire cage this gave a +2 to hit and 1d6 additional damage roll.}

BA-BAM!

DarkStar smashed Bulwark to the ground hard. The Strength of the Tarot Masters did not get up. He had been knocked unconscious.

{GM Note: DarkStar needed a 12 to hit with his Priestess’ cage rolled an 11. Bulwark had a 16% chance of unconsciousness rolled 13}

“AAARRGH!” the Priestess cried in pain but she was still awake and trapped in her cage.

[15] War Wagon missed with his Tarot Master’s pistol when he shot at the King of Swords.

[14] King of Swords missed with his shot at Epsilon.

Thanks Tom.

I have questions.  :)

Did Nomad tell Thunderhead who Adamas and Elwood are? If yes, did he indicate that Adamas and Elwood know Nomad?

Who are the villains near Thunderhead? I can't identify them clearly on the map. Does TH know they are villains?

Nomad told TH that the tower needed to be destroyed. Can TH see the tower? It's not on his map. Do the maps relate to each other?

Did Nomad tell TH that Jacco is here at Stonehenge?

What's the weather currently like?

Thanks,

Jeff

<OOC>  The objective is to bind the big man up.  If it is possible to make the entangle blinding then that's what I'm going for.  If not, it's cool.  :)  Never thought I'd be playing a support character, but this is a blast!  :D

OOC: Reply, Adamas and Elwood?

Hi guys!

Tom, Thunderhead's action looks like this:

Movement: Grow larger

Movement: Begin to change the weather

Movement: Flight

More Movement, and the "Attack" part of his action, will come after he hears from Adamas and Elwood.

Thanks.

Jeff

<Centurion: IC> CX smiles inside of his helmet. He sees the archer shaking off the chill and coming too. "Fall asleep at the party again and I'll write DUFUS on your forehead myself! Heh heh." The joking tone is obvious  .  .  .

<Archers: Goals> I plan on Daniel holding his Action, unless it looks like he is about to be attacked he is going to provide fire support for the non-heavy hitters that  looks the most in trouble this turn. Snowman, Bulwark and Red Fury top the list in order of threat level perceived. With any luck some of the other heroes will narrow down his choices before the arrows start having to fly. Will declare specific Actions depending on other potential role play.

Fun battle issue Tom thanks :)

Tom, I'll correct the Stonehenge line and resend. Should I correct the weather line as well, or could he accomplish what he attempted? Thanks.

If TH wants to battle to control the weather, I assume that's his attack?

Thanks

Jeff
----------------------------------------------------------
When he reaches out he discovers the Weather is being controlled. TH has a choice stop now or make his attack this turn in an attempt to take control away.

OOC: Ok. Thanks. I expect that he won't, unless it’s critical to destroying the Matter Vacuum.

Best,

Jeff

Starbolt and Red Hawk will turn their attention towards Snowman, and attempt to duplicate their earlier success. "Red Hawk", Starbolt states. "Let’s hit snowball with a grab and pummel."

Starbolt will construct foot clamps for Snowman. And will blast him if an opening presents itself.

Red Hawk will blast away at a "hopefully" stationary target.

Jamey

Well look at that. :)

Jamie taking control of Red Hawk and going to town on one of the big bad guys. I LOVE IT

IC:

Sitting four feet above the ground and seemingly supported by nothing but air, Elwood looks up at the massive Thunderhead in joyful amazement.  He places his feet on the ground, stands and cradles the back of his head with his right hand as he cranes his neck to look up to the face of the newest party guest.  “Mr….Thunderhead!  It is a wondrous pleasure to meet you!”  Elwood is shouting.

OOC:

I will write again with the further actions for Harvey and Elwood in a separate e-mail.

Tom – I think Harvey would have two actions this turn since he only used movement in the previous one.  Let me know if this is incorrect.

Thanks!

Mike
-------------------------------------------------------------
You are correct he has two actions.

Tom
-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC

Hi Tom.

Can TH see what aggressive types Elwood is referring to?

I thought there were no villains nearby, or did I misunderstand?

Thanks

Jeff
-----------------------------------------------------------
No TH can’t see the villains but he can see a giant Coral surrounds the area. He isn't shocked because he saw a larger version in the Domain. He knows a squad of men can hide in this smaller version.

Tom
-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC:

Hi Mike,

Your Elwood posts always make me smile.

Jon, can Adamas (and Elwood!) go with Thunderhead to the Tower, or will the "aggressive types" follow? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I just got here!

Best,

Jeff
-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: I'm game, Adamas should have a lot of movement left, ala Heightened Speed... basically he's just running around playing keep away with whatever it is he has that they want.

Harvey pulled some equipment from the tower, and the villains ended up going after Elwood, so Adams is taking the heat to keep it out of their hands, and them off of Elwood, to bring you up to speed.

Jon

-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Thanks for the update.

Can these pursuing villains fly or otherwise follow us if we charge the Tower?

Jeff
-------------------------------------------------------------
Jeff,

Adamas is down to 2 HP, so my OOC recommendation is to attack his attackers, or lure them to the main fracas by the tower.

I'm glad you like my Elwood posts.  That means a lot to me.

Mike
-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC:  The villains can fly, we (Adamas and the Villains) are currently in a forest of magical "brain coral" that grounds us.

My move to maintain those 2 HP. :) And to keep the equipment Harvey stole out of their hands.

Jon

-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Ye gads!

Thanks guys.

Tom, you said I can't see these villains but I can see Adamas.

Can I fit into the magical forest of brain coral in my giant size to find these villains?

Better yet, do I think I can pick up the forest of magical brain coral?

Jeff
---------------------------------------------------------------
That is because when Super Nova attacked Adamas he burned a hole in the Coral. TH can see only Adamas through the hole.

Yes TH can fit in Giant size in the Coral. It will be detect hidden roll to find Villains, doubled chance to find Super Nova because of his flame aura.

No you can only left a section but it has thorns which would be an automatic hit.

OOC:  Thorns and coral and villains  OH MY!

Dave
-------------------------------------------------------------
OOC:

Thanks Tom.

Jon and Mike, Thunderhead's detects are pretty puny. Going into the coral reef will give him a 16% chance of helping Adamas.

If the villains are chasing the gizmo you guys stole, how about you hand it off to TH? He flies away with the gizmo, luring the villains off of the injured Adamas?

Or how about destroying it with your eye beams, so they can never get it back?

If the villains just want to kill Adamas and Elwood, and don't care about the gizmo, how about the giant-sized Thunderhead carries Adamas and Elwood away. He could evade while flying.

Thoughts?

Tom, if a giant is flying and evading, do his negatives to be hit (from the evasion) transfer to the folks he's carrying?

Also, does the tower seem to have multiple levels to it, or is it more like an oil rig?

When scanning earlier with his binocs, could Thunderhead tell why the army of heroes are entering the tower at ground level, rather than flying into a higher level?

Or why they aren't attempting to reduce the tower to rubble from the outside?

Thanks,

Jeff
------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Destroy the widget and they do not have reason to chase Adamas anymore. Until the Cure can heal him again he's in no condition to take on Supernova. We just about have the first floor cleared if it weren't for Snowman. Like Supernova he's a tough cookie and Toms taken it easy on us with him I fear.

Tom, if a giant is flying and evading, do his negatives to be hit (from the evasion) transfer to the folks he's carrying? Yes, the folks get the negatives to be hit

Also, does the tower seem to have multiple levels to it, or is it more like an oil rig? 4 levels counting the ground level.

The Astral Projection of Psimon appeared before Thunderhead. Speaking telepathically he said, "Thunderhead is that really you? Is this where you disappeared to such a long time ago?"

Thunderhead knows who Psimon is and even meet him once back in 1931 when Thunderhead had started out while Psimon had been active for 14 years by then. He and Freedom Eagle were the first two superheroes in Megalopolis. TH was surprised to see that at least Psimon's consciousness still existed today.

Psimon caught Thunderhead up on the major events of the battle including letting him know that the others TH didn't know in the field with him are the heroes: [nearest to furthest]Molecule Man, Skylark [North], American Woman [South], and Dynamo.

Psimon's answered the following two questions.

When scanning earlier with his binocs, could Thunderhead tell why the army of heroes are entering the tower at ground level, rather than flying into a higher level? There was a force field protecting it which just came down and no one knows exactly what or where the Matter Vacuum is or how to stop it. The device could be on all levels. So each floor has to be investigated to figure out how to stop it.

Or why they aren't attempting to reduce the tower to rubble from the outside? It was tried with a Nuclear Fission bomb but it did nothing to the force field or the Tower. It only destroyed Stonehenge and scattered the 2 forces.

The Black Orchid, having done her job at disabling the tower field can now concentrate on helping the others. "Alright big hitters, the tower shouldn't put up too much of a fight now."

She'll then try to form a blackness around as many zombies as possible without including any of the good guys. "I hope these zombies need to see to attack." Once she does that, she'll then try to go back up the stairs.

Marc
-------------------------------------------------------------
In Issue 6 it was shown to Black Orchid that the Zombies used something other than sight to attack by. They moved toward Black Orchid even though they couldn't see them. It was the special fog released by the Tarot Masters' Cups which prevented them from attacking her and drove them outside.

Oops, forgot about that!

OK, so the first statement still stands and I'll take it again from there...

OOC: Tom, did the pre mission briefing or does Cybil have ability to inform DarkStar of Black Orchids Devitalization Ability. I think it might be key to taking out Snowman.

Thanks
John

-------------------------------------------------------------
No to both cases. Black Orchid's powers are not public knowledge and DarkStar has no way of knowing them. Her connection with CHESS has kept her info out of the databases DarkStar normally accesses.

OOC: DS has obviously been too involved with fighting Demons in other dimensions lately. We'll have to rectify his personal meta-database in the near future lol.

Thanks Tom

OOC:  Adamas is open, his main goal has been to protect Elwood... but he'd love to get back into the fight.  His Invulnerability usually means he can take an off shot, but he's in no shape for a knock down drag out... wasn't expecting to have a nuke dropped on him. :)

IC: As Adamas hears the booming voice beyond the coral, he hears, "Agent America sent me." His heart leaps at the chance that his friend is still alive, and has sent aid.

OOC: Adamas will begin to carefully move out of the coral, holding the huge piece of machine like a giant baseball bat.  If he sees Super Nova or his Twisted Sister, he will attempt to Knock them out of the park... but he is moving toward Thunderhead with haste.

OOC:
Great. Looks like Adamas is going to destroy the object upside Supernova's
head.

Tom, here's the second part of Thunderhead's action:

Goals, in priority order:
1) Protect Adamas and Elwood, hopefully without entering the coral forest.
2) Get to the Tower to destroy the Matter Vacuum, hopefully with
Adamas and  Elwood.

IC:

Despite the surroundings that reminded him of the trenches of the Great War, Thunderhead smiled and said, "Pleasure to meet you Elwood. I've heard a lot about you. And Harvey. Let's go join the ruckus."

When Adamas was close enough to speak to without shouting, Thunderhead would say: "Destroy that machine, friend, if that's what they're after."

If Adamas is attacked before he exits the forest, and Thunderhead has a saved action, he will blast Adamas' attacker with a bolt of lightning with the goal of spoiling the attack on Adamas.

Once Adamas is out of the forest, Thunderhead will carry Adamas and Elwood to the Tower, with the intent of protecting and shielding them from harm, in case they are pursued.

If he can use an action at this point, without stopping his movement, he'll Evade in this endeavor.

As they hurtled to the Tower, Thunderhead asked Adamas and Elwood, "Can we enter it from a higher level? Or attack the Tower itself?"

OOC:

Attack is spent blasting at a super villain who attacks Adamas before he exits the forest, to spoil the attack.

Or else attack is used on evading, after Adamas exits forest, but only if the evasion doesn't halt their advance on the Tower.

If it does, he'll save his attack if possible, or use it to punch his way into the Tower!

Go Guardians!

Starbolt will construct foot clamps for Snowman. And will blast him if an opening presents itself.

Red Hawk will blast away at a "hopefully" stationary target

<Archer Adjustments> Archer will still hold his Action trying to provide an Overwatch for other team members. He will pay particular attention to Red Fury. With luck, Snowman and Bulwark are being restrained by Starbolt and Centurian X, leaving her as the most dangerous unfettered opponent on the field. Regardless, If he needs to fire upon the enemy to protect less protected heroes like Graviton, Condor and himself he will use 4 standard arrow and use both his attacks for two dual multi-strikes to the head using his Marksman ability. If it turns out this isnt needed he will save his Action to next Turn.

Thanks John
------------------------------------------------------------
<IC> CX smiles inside of his helmet. He sees the archer shaking off the chill and coming too. "Fall asleep at the party again and I'll write DUFUS on your forehead myself! Heh heh." The joking tone is obvious. CX then turns to more pressing matters. As Big Blue had requested aid in taking the big targets down, CX is happy to oblige him. Gathering the shattered girder and other bits of metal strewn about the battle field, CX sends them flying across the room to encase Bulwark. CX guides some of the metal to form a steel blindfold across the monster's eyes. He knows that this will not hold the enemy long, but hopes its long enough to let the others take him down. If he cannot see or move, he won't be able to dodge and parry. "Wrapping up the meat! How about some tenderizing!?"

<OOC> The objective is to bind the big man up. If it is possible to make the entangle blinding then that's what I'm going for. If not, it's cool. :) Never thought I'd be playing a support character, but this is a blast! :D

<DarkStar IC: Action and Response> Too slow, we should have had this room cleared and headed to the second level by now, Time to try for two birds with one stone.Stepping from behind what looked like a generator (F) Joshua sees the Archer scanning the room looking to protect the backs of heroes who might be leaving themselves open to a flank attack in the furious battle. "Any tricks left in that quiver bowman?" Stepping to the pile of steel girders intertwined by Centurion X's magnetic powers, "Sorry Priestess, I would normally never treat a lady like this, but sleeping in Cr’tegorf bed proves you're no lady. Picking up the heavy steel cage, DarkStar looks for an opening and combat jumps above (and behind if possible) slams it into the villain. (Which villain? DarkStar will hold his dual-attacks and take advantage of either Bulwark or Snowman being bound by either Starbolt or Centurion X - if both are successful he will hope to add on to any damage being done to Snowman as the last 'order' was to dog pile the ice villain,. If neither attempt to entangle the villains is successful he will use his dual-attacks on Bulwark. Either way trying to use the steel cage as a huge club and hoping to damage the Priestess enough in the process to knock her out and shut her up) :)

OOC: If I'm trying something goofy or need to make adjustment please let me know. Thanks Tom

Damn - sorry, bro - I thought for sure that i sent out a reply a few days after the issue came out - Phantom's actions are rather simple, perhaps I just thought I did and didn't. Either way, my apologies, Tom - here's Phantom's action for this turn.

IC:

Beginning to feel swarmed by the zombie horde, the one man war-machine kicks himself into high-gear and launches a counter-attack on zombies. "You wanna fight? Then come and get it!" he barks out at his would-be killers. Quickly pivoting ninety degrees to his right, Phantom brings up both his pistols and fires at the two zombies closest to him.

OOC:

Phantom is taking head shots; shots with each pistol, at the zombies that was right in front of him just last turn and the zombie coming over the rock. In true comic / action movie fashion he's firing both pistols to his sides. I'm looking for dramatic effect there - not a firing penalty - so if Phantom has to 'back-pedal' a bit so that each of these zombies is in his forward firing arc then he'll do that instead.

My apologies again for the screw-up.

-Kev
