Megalopolis: Crossover: He's Mine!

Location: Stonehenge, England

The battle against the forces of the Domain and its allies, The Tarot Masters raged. The heroes had successfully fought their way across the battlefield and had entered the ground floor of the Matter Vacuum Tower. The Tarot Master’s Sword suit and members of the Major Arcana were waiting for them.

The Titan of Transport swung the steel girder like a massive club in a mid-waist arc at his enemies. He struck Bulwark hard. Bulwark doubled with pain then stood up. “Is that all you got big man?” He said.

DarkStar thought “I can hurt him, but not fast enough on my own.” Activating an open channel to the other heroes and waving a greeting to the Gold Squad as they entered the tower, “Saved by Air Support. Good work heroes we’re making progress but we need to keep up the pressure and focus on the heavy hitters. Use your numbers and tag team these scum two or three to one when you can.” His mind kicking into hyper-speed, DarkStar tallied the opposition left on the first floor. Four ‘Heavies’, seven Swords, and a couple Zombies, only the Lord knows what was coming through those doors next.

[33] Red Fury charged across the Tower floor. “Time for us to repel these invaders, starting with you!” She used her sword to slice off the left side missile launcher on War Wagon’s powered wheelchair. She kicked the right launcher but missed damaging the frame but not the launcher.

DarkStar said, “Magnetor can you and Epsilon take out Red Fury at range? Watch out that sword is deadly.”

[32] Epsilon nodded in the affirmative. He fired two TK bolts but missed as Red Fury dodged.

[28] Fortress commanded two earth columns to rise from the floor. Red Fury leapt away from the attack and the columns smashed into the ceiling.

DarkStar said,” Starbolt, can you take Red Hawk and engage Mortal on the north wall?”

[24]"Sure DS." The Stellar powered Sentinel replied. To Red Hawk he asked," Are you ready to take out Mortal." Starbolt flew toward Mortal, He used energy constructs to create a big clamp to hold Mortals feet together, and allow Red Hawk to get his shot in.

[24] FOUR of Swords fired his pistol at the Starbolt, missing him.

[22] The Priestess struggled against her bond. “Joshua please come help me. We want the same thing. To protect people from the dangers of this world, they need to be taken care of and guided in this world. Cr’tegorf protects all that he loves. The world would be a better place with him in charge.”

[22] NINE of Swords fired his pistol at the Zombie attacking him and missed.

[22] Condor flew across the room. He raised his fists in an attempt to smash in Snow Man. He missed.

[22] Raven threw a right cross at FIVE of Swords and missed.

[22] Turning to Armorman, Joshua popped a couple marble shaped objects from a utility pouch and tossed them in the air. As they hover and zip up the stairwell he grasped his armored ally. “Ready yourself, when Bulwark moves away from the wall we are going to teleport behind him and tag team him WWE style.”

{GM Note: DarkStar held action and I didn’t count any movement for the ‘floaters’}

The objects scanned the darkened floor. It made out the shapes of Tarot Soldiers which were holding pistols and chalices. Next to the soldiers stood a slim woman with long hair, she wore a half cape. There wasn’t enough light to make out of her face. She raised her hand and a blinding flash overwhelmed the objects. Static filled their screens and then they went blank. The objects had been destroyed.

Cybil queried DarkStar about what happened to the objects. The aftereffects of the explosion and the use of magic were playing havoc with her sensors. She couldn’t observe inside the Vacuum Tower.

[21] Space Racer circled around the room. He picked up speed as he smashed into Snow Man. His attack got past the Snow Man’s Ice Armor. Snow Man groaned in pain but rolled with the damage. He continued with the fight.

[19] Red Hawk fired a vibe blast at the trapped Mortal. The blast caught the villain full in the chest knocking him out.

[19] Hierophant swung his flaming sword at War Wagon. He destroyed War Wagon’s right missile launcher.

[19] The Black Orchid again quietly spoke out as cryptically as possible through her communicator "I just gave the tower one black eye, and I'm ready to give it another. DarkStar, I think you know what I mean, but it's getting crowded. Keep the area clear." She maneuvered through the chaos to the other generator in hopes of doing the same to it, making sure to avoid getting blasted or hit if possible

Click: "Sweet work Orchid, we'll do our best to stay out of your way”: Click. “If she gets that force field down this Cr’tegorf can kiss his butt goodbye”, DarkStar thought.

The Power Generator’s outer surfaces glow red-hot burning Black Orchid when she touched. She steeled her willpower to continue her efforts. {GM Note: 3 damage, -3 PP}

The lights flickered then dimmed as the remaining generator turned off. The Tower lights were still on and the other equipment were still running but the force field shut down.

The protective force field protecting the Matter Vacuum Tower was off.

[18] Bulwark ran across the floor. “Nobody attack DarkStar, He’s mine!” He came up behind DarkStar.

*WHOUMP*

DarkStar and Armorman Junior appeared behind Bulwark. DarkStar swung his steel girder.

WHAM!

The girder shattered against Bulwark’s armored body. Bulwark flew across the room smashing into the northern wall.

[17] Armorman Junior leapt across the room after Bulwark. He attempted an overhand smash as he landed. Bulwark rolled out of the way causing Armorman Junior to miss.

Bulwark smashed an armored fist into Armorman Junior. The second generational hero was protected by his armor.

[17] Magnetor fired a magnetic wave at Red Fury. She dodged out of the way and knocked his magnetic device from his hand.

{GM Note: Magnetor rolled a fumble with the results being the loss of his device. The above is just flavor to describe how the device was lost, Red Fury did not make an attack.}

[17] War Wagon speed away from his attackers. He drove to the southeast corner. He liberated an enchanted pistol and sword from a fallen Sword Soldier.

[15] CX replied over the comm, "On my way Big Blue." Seeing the downed Archer, CX lifted him to lie atop one of the Logistic Computers. He thought, 'can’t have our friends turning into zombie kibble’ He lightly shook the blue clad Fletcher, "Come on Arrow-Boy! We need you on your feet” CX flew to a position between the support column and the stairs.

DarkStar nodded as CX dragged the Archer to safety. “Anyone else who can get free dog pile the Snowman.”

"I'm here Blue." CX surveyed the battle situation in the central part of the main floor. He quickly calculated several combat possibilities. He turned his back toward the equipment that Archer was upon. He had partial cover to the entrance but still had a shot at any new comers into the tower. He also had a clear view of anything approaching from the center of the tower.

A few seconds later, the lights dim and he realized what just happened. Over the comm, he stated, "Orchid, Sweetie, I don't know exactly what you did, but if you can find more equipment like that, keep doing what you just did, you may be able to shut this damned thing down!"

Air and moisture around the Archer chills and quickly froze. The assault so sudden he bent on knee as ice and sleet covered his shoulders and chest. Then the shadows of blackness fall upon him as the blizzard warrior’s attack overcame the Archer.

Then the flicker of a candle, the small pure white waxen taper’s luminescence grew, expanding outward lighting the “Sanctuary? No, focus Daniel. Now is not the time of shadows and contemplation. I must return to the battle.” The candles flames grew and moved, flowing around Daniel soaking into his mind and body. “Little tallow lead the way, lead me from the darkness and into the light.”

Archer woke up.

[15] The Queen of Swords fired at Starbolt. Her enchanted bullet missed. She starts to move but tripped and fell.

[15] The Knight of Swords fired at the Zombie attacking him but missed.

[15] The FIVE of Swords fired at Raven. His shot hit. Raven rolled with the damage.

[15] A Zombie attacked the Knight of Swords. His bite could not damage the Knight’s armor.

[14] Snow Man fired an ice blast at Condor. Condor’s armor cracked from the sudden coating of ice. Snow Man reformed his ice armor completely.

[14] The King of Swords fired at the Zombie attacking the Knight of Swords. The enchanted bullet exploded the Zombie’s head. It fell to the ground unmoving.

[13] A Zombie attacked the NINE of Swords. His attacked missed.

The grenade had landed in the center of 15 zombies. The explosion ripped the zombies apart. Eleven of the zombies were blow apart and didn’t move anymore. Four of the Zombies did not lose any significant body parts. They moved toward Phantom reaching for him.

The female Zombie rounded the rock that Phantom was behind. She reached out to grab him but missed.

The other zombies which were not in the explosion vainly searched for a way into the Vacuum Tower. They knew there was food in there and they wanted it.

[23] The 'Alabaster Avenger' released his grip on his assault weapon and quickly reached for his two pistols. As the rifle's sling pulled taut across Phantom's armored frame, his twin pistols came up from their holsters and leveled on their targets. Two rounds erupted from one of them and flew through the air into the head of the female Zombie that had just lashed out at Phantom. She fell to the ground with her head ruined. She did not move. His other pistol launched two rounds into the head of one of the other female Zombie making her way toward him. Her head exploded then she fell to the ground unmoving.

[19] A Zombie police officer moved toward Phantom. A large boulder blocked it from reaching him. It started climbing the boulder

[18] Another Zombie police officer move toward Phantom. It attempted to grab him but missed.

[10] The third Zombie police officer missed in its attempt to grab Phantom.

All the other Zombies moved closer to the Tower doorway or toward Phantom in their desperate search for brains!

{GM Note: If Phantom climbed on top of the boulder, I would award him a -2 to be hit by any Zombie attacker}

[28] Tomahawk kicked EIGHT of Pentacles in the stomach then followed up with an overhead smash on the head with his tomahawk. EIGHT was knocked out. “Thanks be to the spirits and my ancestors for finding me worthy to win this battle”

[27] Lightning Fist put up his Katana pulling out both of his Nunchukus. He swung them in a figure eight pattern smashing the Knight of Pentacles’ armor. “No one can survive the ‘Flowering Circle of Chained Death”.

[23] Dreamweaver fired a TK blast at the Page of Pentacles. The Page performed a barrel roll as the blast missed him. “Ha, you shot like you are sleepwalking.” The Page said.

[22] Volcanic Man threw a haymaker punch at NINE of Pentacles. The Tarot Master soldier ducked the punch. “Quit ducking, ya’ mugg and take your beating like a man.”

[19] Page of Pentacles fired his pistol at Resonator punching a hole in his armor.

[18] Enforcer pummeled the Knight of Pentacles with his force field. His attack got past the Knight’s armor. The Tarot Master Squad Commander rolled with the damage and continued with the fight.

[16] Kali swung her power chucks in a crisscross pattern. Her energy charged Nunchuku smashed into NINE of Pentacles. NINE was hurt but he was still able to fight.

[16] Resonator fired a sonic blast at the Page of Pentacles. The sound wave smashed into the Tarot Master Reconnaissance Officer knocking him out of the sky. The Page crashed into the ground. He was incapacitated.

[14] Knight of Pentacles sliced Lightning Fist with his sword. “So much for your famed martial arts, you face a true swordsman not some street punk.”

Lightning Fist put away his Nunchukus and removed his Katana. He looked at Enforcer. “Go, take the others with you to the Vacuum Tower. We must complete the mission. Don’t worry about the Knight.”

“He’s mine!”

[14] NINE of Pentacles missed Volcanic Man with his shot.

[11] Evergreen moved away from Tomahawk toward Kali and Volcanic Man. She struck NINE of Pentacles with her thorns. The Tarot Master soldier fell to the ground incapacitated.

[36] Adamas saw his opponents looking for a target, and began to worry that he may not be able to protect Elwood, Adamas decided to change his tactics.

To Elwood, Adamas said loudly, "I think it's my turn to play keep away," with that he moved to the floating device. To his invisible companion, "Harvey, pants anyone that moves toward our friend."

With that, Adamas took the device, and moved away from the tower at high speed. He did not head for space, or the sun, but for now, he was trying to draw the villains away. He swerved and moved erratically, using his heightened speed and movement to evade any pursuers.

Adamas flew toward the Coral. When he arrived at the edge he was grabbed in a TK field. It lowered him to the ground with a soft landing. Turning to look behind him, he saw he was still being pursued. Adamas ran into the Coral.

[30] Dynamo fired a Lightning bolt at Diablo. The bolt stuck the fiery villain but didn’t faze him as he chased Adamas

[26] Molecule Man missed with a punch at Mother Superior.

[24] Harvey grabbed Elwood with TK and moved evasively away from any danger.

[24] Skylark fired a sound wave striking Diablo in the back. Diablo fell to the ground unconscious.

[20] American Woman fired a laser at Sister Indigo. Hitting her, the villainous woman rolled with the damage. Sister Indigo continued to chase Adamas.

[19] Sister Indigo flew to the edge of the Coral and landed. She ran into the Coral. The Sinister Sister searched for Adamas but couldn’t find him. “The Sinner is like its Sin, it cannot remain hidden. Come into the light Adamas, reveal yourself and receive the ‘Absolute Absolution’”.

[17] Super Nova flew to the edge of the Coral and landed. He ran into the Coral. “You search in vain, Sister. I will find him. He’s mine!”

Super Nova found Adamas. The launched a fire ball into Adamas’ back. Adamas was surprised but unhurt.

{GM Note: Super Nova did 17 damage points. All against Invulnerability:-17 Invulnerability}

[15] Mother Superior flew to the edge of the Coral and landed. She ran into the Coral. The Malicious Mother searched for Adamas but couldn’t find him. “Fleeing with only delay your being disciplined Adamas. The Day of Judgment is at hand. Quit running and face your Judge like a man.”

[14] Blastar flew to the edge of the Coral and landed. He ran into the Coral. The Absorbing Powerhouse searched for Super Nova but couldn’t find him. “Trying to hide a light under a bushel will not work. Face me Super Nova.”

[9] Klondike ran into the Coral. The Benevolent Alien searched for Mother Superior but couldn’t find her. “Come out; Come out wherever you are, Witch.”

At the south end of the open field a portal opened. Through that portal walked a single man.

Across the StarCorp secure communications network Cybil broadcasts a team wide announcement: Attention a new Meta has entered the combat zone. Query search revealed he is wearing the markings and attire of Thunderhead. Summary Info: Thunderhead was a Megalopolis Superhero that disappeared in 1932.

OOC: Tom, my brother, I swear I’m sending you some new dice pal. (lol) Not much for an unconscious man to do but go cold I guess . . . unless he has great Willpower and a refusal to ever give up. Totally off the cuff, I’m trying to use Archer’s Willpower to increase the percentage chance of fighting off the cold and wake up to continue the battle. Maybe with CX lending a hand one of the two chances will work and we can get the bowman back in the game.

<DarkStar: Goals> Trying to organize the heroes so that we effectively are using our numbers to take out the bad guys in the tower as fast as possible. I’m not sure what Mortal can do but Starbolt and Red Hawk should make a good team. Red Fury should be pretty banged up and maybe Magnetor or Epsilon can rip that nasty sword out of her hands. Snowman scares me as much as Supernova and if Bulwark tough as I think, he is going to get the “Ball’s Pyramid Teleport Plan” as soon as Black Orchid can depower the tower’s force field. DarkStar will hold his action as long as possible waiting for Bulwark to attack (hopefully making DS his target) DS will then teleport him and Armorman behind the spiny villain and club him to submission with their Dual Attacks. DarkStar will use his steel girder as a Big Club again.

Plan B: If Bulwark runs (not likely) or holds his Action also (doesn’t seem his style) then we’ll resort to a good old fashion face to face pounding with the hope teleporting in gives us an edge. I'm also hoping Cybil can get a sensor feed from the Spy-Eyes as an early warning system/info of what is on the next floor.

Crossover: He's Mine! - Issue 8
