Crossover: Move Out! - Issue 2

Location: Megalopolis CHESS HQ

Of two of the figures entering the conference room, it was obvious to everyone they are martial artists. Only one was known to the other heroes. He is Lightning Fist.

He introduced his companion, Archer when they entered.

The majority of the heroes turned their attention back to Lightning Fist with the exception of three of them. Archer was keenly aware of the three sets of eyes focused on him. Those that studied him were Kali, CHESS Bishop Prince, and Enforcer. Starbolt, The Wraith and Black Orchid recognized Archer. They had fought with him against the Crushers.

Noticing the reaction of the other 'heroes' as Lightning Fist entered the room, Archer carefully tried to remain in his shadow. Reluctant to be noticed he politely nodded to all who Lightning Fist introduced him as “the Archer”. What have you gotten me involved with Craftsman? I’m a simple archer, a shell of my former self. What do I have to offer to these god-like brings?

Scanning the gathering of heroes, Starbolt noticed one that he had not introduced himself to. He recognized the bowman from their fight with the Crushers. Starbolt walked up to him and extended his hand. "I did not get a chance to thank you earlier. My name is Starbolt." The Stellar-Powered Sentinel said.

Even with the connection to his chi-awareness blocked by the monks, David instinctively focused on all that which was around him. Although it was from a distance he remembered the colorful individual reaching out to him. As their hands clasp, David ‘felt’ the power emanating from ‘Starbolt’. Taiyang Shen! He glows as if a Son of the Celestial Heaven. With an effort of great will, Davis maintained his silent stoic demeanor. “Your gratitude is appreciated, but unnecessary. I was merely one of many throwing water atop a house on fire.” . . . hmm, I see now why I am here. Thank you Craftsman. Thank you Starbolt.

"Such a great assembly of heroes, the need must be great. Do you know anything about what we are to face?" As he awaited Starbolt's response, the hooded Archer keenly watched the reaction and movements of the three individuals who studied him and not Lightning Fist upon their arrival. Only the slightest shake of his hood warned Kali that now was not the time or place. It's the two American men which concern him the most. Do they know?

At that time General Samuel commenced the briefing. {Editors note – to read the briefing see Crossover Issue 1}

During the Briefing the Black Orchid straightened up when she heard Hallowed Hills. "I wonder if the University is OK" she whispered to Starbolt.

Upon listening to the tale of terror, her mind raced.

Before General Samuel left the podium and made his way to a side conference room; he addressed the assembly of superheroes one last time, “I need to speak with the leaders of the Super Teams of Crimson Guard, Crusaders, Indestructibles, Guardians, and Super Society.” Realizing that the general assembly had come to a close and that the leaders of the Task-force were about to meet in private to discuss a plan of action, DarkStar made his move . . .

Teleporting in close, DarkStar stopped Magus as he was about to enter the conference room with the leaders of the other super-teams. Rose's facial expression was easy to read. Although it's counter to his way of handling crisis situations, he was giving the team's newest member his trust. The ex-Navy Commander handed Magus an aluminum suitcase. "Here, please share these with the others. I've organized the all the data Cybil could put together on short notice. I hope it can help the decision making process. I might be bouncing around a bit, but if you need me just whistle. I'll be there in a 'blink'." Taking the brief case from DarkStar; Magus said to the 'Teleporting Titan', "Brilliant, I'm sure this will prove quite invaluable to us - thank you, DarkStar."

Turning to find General Samuel and Director Vlasov, Joshua halted and looked back. "There are a large number of Independent super-heroes in that assembly hall. It might go a long way toward creating some esprit de corps by inviting one of them into this 'Council'; Gauntlet seems to be a good man" DarkStar shook Magus' hand before he departed to find his ex-supervisors.

On the other side of the room; not comfortable with the idea of inserting himself into the conversation the amazing Gauntlet was having with his 'employer', Joshua Rose aka DarkStar, Chris waited until the transport titan teleported away. Trying his best to emulate his mentors, Condor and Shatterman, who both seem very at ease in the large contingent of heroes, Chris finally spoke up. Still getting use to his identity as Red Hawk, the fledgling hero 'felt' compelled to ask a question. "I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but there seems to be a large number of us who don't belong to a 'team'." A little nervous Chris pressed on, "I ... I'd like to volunteer to take point with the Task Force's 'air support' element . . . Condor, Shatterman, Gauntlet, Magnetor ... Would you consider forming a squadron of flyers with me? Maybe we can get some of the other flyers to join us from the hero teams? I know I don't have the experience of any of you, but I promise to give you everything I have in the endeavor."

Gauntlet’s smile was easy and friendly as he replied. “That is a great idea Red Hawk, I am sure that is what will happen. Whether we are in the same squad or not I am confident you will give your best. And it will definitely be enough”

CHESS Rooks and Doves took down the basic capabilities of the Heroes to make sure the DSA files were up to date. The information was entered into IPADs which sent the data to the CHESS computers that had been set up in the side conference room.

Black Orchid told the Rook, "I'll help in anything but the air support. I might be helpful riding with the tank. I've worked on things like this before. I can also help provide cover for the group attacking the gate, unless they can all see through darkness."

DarkStar meet with Director Vlasov while General Samuel was meeting with the Super Teams leaders. DarkStar asked “What about Super Villains? Why aren’t any of them here? We could use them as a team to attack the Domain. I was recently there. I saw three pylons. They have to be connected in some way to the Matter Vacuum Converters.”

Director Vlasov sadly looked downward. “Basically the threat while real isn't immediate enough. They believe they can defeat Cr'tgerof's forces after the Domain had been weakened by our Heroes. Since they believe they can still win on Earth we can’t convince them to go to the Domain. To get their help they need to believe that it is certain death to stay on Earth so going to the Domain where there is only the possibility of death would make sense.”

Director Vlasov provided the communiqués that MEDUSA had done with the most powerful Super Villains. Here were their responses:

·         Leo the Lion believed it was an attempt to use the Domain to eliminate the true world threat: Himself.

·         Motivator questioned the CHESS scientists finding. She believed the process could be reversed once Cr'tgerof was freed.

·         Jade Emperor, Son of the Seventh Level of the Celestial Heaven, would not grant MEDUSA an audience. His message was "It would be best that the Heroes do not lose."

·         Omin-Primus did not respond. It was believed the Emissaries have left Earth.

“Isn't there captured villains who would sign up to go to the Domain?” Joshua asked.

Vlasov replied the most powerful villains Fear Island Super-Penitentiary held were the Infidels. Unfortunately they welcomed the destruction that Cr'tgerof brings. He suspected that several would worship him as a god.

The titan of transport was already searching for Gauntlet as he started to walk away from his short and emotionally intense meeting with Vlasov, Commander Rose frustrated but hyper-active intellect was already slipped into working on an alternative. “Alexi was right. What's wrong with me? Ever since we returned from the Domain, all I want to do is smash anything that has to do with that place. Donnah's alive and well according to Doc. She's not the same, but I'm proof life goes on. Dammit AA, why? No … Focus Joshua, too many lives are on the line. This is what Doc has been trying to stop since he put us together and I'm not letting the old man down.”

DarkStar apologized for interrupting the fabled Gauntlet's conversation with Kali, the beautiful villain turned vigilante. "I'm going to step out a few minutes. I was thinking some of the independent heroes might want to start thinking where they might want to lend a hand during the Crisis. They could use someone like you as a voice. Handing the veteran hero a StarCorp comm-badge he glanced at the man's gauntlets. "I'm betting you don't need it, but in case something happens while I'm out. I'd appreciate a heads up. Thanks."

*Whoump*

Walking into his private quarters atop StarCorp Tower, Commander Rose changed from the corporate security gear he had worn when he first appeared at CHESS headquarters and into the civilian `superhero' attire Nigel had Ms. Stitch design for him a while back. I never have liked all this `cape' culture, but at a time like this maybe it really is what's called for. "Cybil, please bring `Scion' online. I want access to any information worldwide regarding Domain related activities. I'm no mystic, but I see patterns where others see chaos. I think it's time I had a chat with Doc.”

*Whoump*

Not wishing to disturb Magus while meeting with the other Task Force leaders, DarkStar focused the amulet on his old friend. "Adamas, I have an idea and I just stepped out to confer with Doc a minute. I'll be right back. Keep me in the loop if anything happens." Opening the door, Joshua stepped out into the hallway and walked down the hall, finding Doctor Arcane in his study. "Doc tell me why this is a bad idea" Slipping the scroll Adamas had given him in the Domain, Joshua laid out the mystic map. Beside it Cybil started searching through and adjusting the star charts Rose had requested from GIANT while he was back at StarCorp Tower.

Domain Map
"Doc, tell me I'm on a wild goose chase and I'll let it go. Ever since Everest, you're only man whose judgment I've trusted more than my own. I don't dis-believe, but we both no magic isn't my thing." Pointing at the map. "But I can see patterns and this one just can't be a coincidence, can it? Three Pylons on this map of the Domain and their building three Towers in our dimension, after we just interrupted their ritual. I know Stonehenge is important, but even if we stop them there, they seem to be all over the place. What's to stop them from starting again on Easter Island, or some other mystic site?"

"Doc. I'm betting Cybil finds a pattern. One which will correspond to this map and I want to take a strike force and knock out the Pylon that … is connected to Earth." A long pause as he waited for the older man's reply. This mission is better suited to Adamas or Magus. I don't belong in the Domain, but I can't ask anyone else to do something like this . . . not after what happened to the New Super Society and Maxima.

Dr. Arcane looked at the map. "Joshua you are correct the Pylons are connected to the Vacuum Matter Converters. Getting to the Pylons will be very difficult; it is from that flow that the Demons are coming from. The lava river is not dangerous to the Domain Demons; it is life giving to them."

"Joshua, I have tried not to pry but now I have to ask. What happened at the Khyber Pass?"

After a quiet uncomfortable pause, before Joshua answered.

"My guess is that your forces were split too thin. That when it was time for the task force to show up at the Pass they weren't able to because they had become over extended."

"Aren't you at risk of doing the same thing here? What if you are able to get a team into the Domain but the team here fails? It comes online before you destroy the Pylon. What then? I don't know what destroying the Pylon will do, but I know it is not an anchor between dimensions. Destroying the Pylon won't cause the Vacuum Matter Converter to disappear. "

"You have it part right Doc." Even with time quickly passing, the burden of the past few days and weeks was nothing compared to the guilt Rose had carried since that day in Pakistan. "What I regret most is good people died that day, people that I could have saved if I had stood my ground instead of trusting my so-called superiors." Shoulders slumped; Joshua sat heavily into 'his' chair beside the master mystic. "Superiors that left my team out in the cold, instead of risking a political embarrassment."

"Samuel's Super-Forces were supposed to provide cover while we made it back into Afghanistan. It was before I ... before I acquired my dark matter based powers. I was just little more than a high-tech super-agent back then." An embarrassed and regretful chuckle slips from the cerulean commander's chest. "You know, Agent America, but smarter." Shaking his head, "I just wish I'd had his courage back then. I saw what was happening in Iran. I told Vlasov, Samuel would have to withdraw his team to deal with what was going on in Iran,"

"He promised me they would be there." . . . sigh . . . "They weren't"

"My team, were just normals Doc. against the Paki metas ... we didn't stand a chance. They cut half the squad down crossing the Khyber Pass Bridge. Normals have no business in a meta-fight Doc, they just don't. Power of the gods and the weaknesses of any human. You should know the temptations of that power more than most." That brought Joshua's thoughts back to all the old man had done and said since recruiting DS and the others. "I get it Doc. You're saying I'm in the position of Samuel and the Super-Forces now. I need to be there for the others when they assault the Tower."

Standing up DarkStar slid the map closer to his mentor. "Keep it safe Doc. I think we're going to need it again before this is over." Turning to go, " . . . and thanks. You're right. Safeguard Earth first. Then go after Cr’tegorf . . . and when we do Adamas and I tear down that *&^!# Occult's castle and bring Agent America home." Shaking the old man's still strong hand, "Please tell Donnah I said hi. I better get back to CHESS headquarters."

At CHESS HQ at the same time that DarkStar was meeting with Director Vlasov.

With the door closed firmly behind them; Seeker, Manta Man, Armorman Jr, Magus, and Gale joined General Samuel at a nearby holo-display table. As the five superheroes took their places around the large high-tech conference table; the General spoke, "I want to thank you for coming to this meeting, the task before us is not an easy one and some difficult decisions will need to be made." After taking a moment to look directly at each of the heroes, the General continued, "Before we get started I would like each of you to tell us who you are and which group you represent, who would like to lead us off?"

The only woman amongst the group immediately spoke up, "Hi! I'm Gale, and I'm currently the leader of the Super Society." The rugged looking man to her left then said with a roguish smile, " . . . and I'm Seeker, hunter extraordinaire and leader of the Crimson Guard." Continuing clock-wise around the table, the next hero introduced himself to the others in a very business-like and dignified manner, "Manta Man, founder and leader of the Crusaders." The power-armored hero sitting next to Manta Man was the next to introduce himself, "Armorman Junior, proud leader of the Indestructibles." A long pause passed as the already introduced leaders of the Task-force sat quietly and wait for the final member of their team to finish looking at whatever it was he has resting in his lap and make his introduction. Magus was looking at DarkStar’s report.

DarkStar Query: Potential availability of Psimon? Nomad? Vendetta? Prankster and Wonder Boy?

DarkStar Suggestion: The Task Force should consider utilizing a strike team inside the Domain.
Target Priority: The three pylons on the map that Adamas gave DarkStar. They correspond too neatly in
number and form, to the Towers being built by the Domain in our dimension to be a coincidence.

Note: If needed StarCorp is offering to provide communication services to all members of the Super Hero
Task Force during throughout the crisis.

Good Luck

Joshua Rose

Suddenly feeling all eyes impatiently resting upon him, the final member of the Task-force closed up the holo-pad in front of him and said in an apologetic tone, " . . . oh . . . my sincere apologies. Magus, leader of the Guardians."

With a look of satisfaction on his face, General Samuel began the meeting, "Outstanding . . . now that we've all been introduced let’s get down to business." The General then pushed a button on the holo-table and a 3-D representation of the Stonehenge Tower formed at its center. As the five superheroes start to examine the holographic image of the battlefield, General Samuel continued, “We'll need teams to attack each of the following targets." The General then started pointing out key enemy positions on the map, "The Red Fury's flying ship 'The Blackfire' otherwise known as the Chariot, the Minor Arcana Pentacles squad and the Major Arcana guarding the Towers entrance, and the Major Arcana that will surely be providing air cover. Once we've managed to get passed all of that the rest of the fight is a simple floor by floor assault of the Tower." He then pressed another button on the conference table; and with each of their names floating squarely below them, a small army of holographic superheroes took form upon it, "These are the brave men and women we have assembled to take on this mission, and each of them brings a unique and special set of superhuman abilities to the table. What we'll first need to decide is whether or not we'll be keeping each of the super-teams together or will mission specific teams be created from our existing forces.”

Once again Gale took the initiative and started off the discussion, "Well, if you ask me I say we split the existing teams up and start matching everyone up based on their abilities and their targets." After a brief pause, Seeker was the next to offer up his feelings on the matter, “I agree, but we should be doing a bit more 'Cherry Picking' when it comes to forming teams I think. Klondike would probably be better suited for some kind of ground assault force, while the rest of the Crimson Guard; along with a few close quarter specialists, attacks the Chariot." Manta Man was quick to respond with a different opinion on the subject however, " . . . and I disagree. Keeping the existing teams together would make more sense in my opinion. Knowledge of their teammate’s strengths and weaknesses would definitely help to offset any potential bad match ups. As for the 'free agents', they could easily be inserted into our preexisting teams for additional support." Providing some support for a fellow high-tech hero, Armorman Junior then chimed in with his own thoughts "I'm kind of with Manta-Man on this one; let’s keep the current teams together, but instead of slipping the independent heroes into them, maybe we could form some additional teams out of them." A deafening silence then filled the room as the group once again was forced to wait for a preoccupied Magus to join the conversation. In a level border-lining on an angry shout, General Samuel barked out "Magus!?" As if ripped from deep personal thought, the London born hero responded simply, “Yes?" With look of aggravated disappointment in his face, the General responded, "If you feel you can pull yourself away from whatever it is that you're reading; it looks like you're our deciding vote."

Placing a small holo-pad back into the aluminum briefcase given to him by DarkStar, Magus said in his unmistakably posh British accent, "The first order of business; as far as I'm concerned, should be to procure a reliable form of communications for our task-force. I have it on good authority that StarCorp will be proud to handle all of our communication needs, this of course includes individual communicators, command communications, and the like." The rest of the heroes just stared at Magus in disappointment and confusion. Sensing that he may have 'jumped the gun' a bit and strayed off topic, Magus immediately tried to salvage his credibility with the others with a more suitable response, "With that said, I think I have a rather well thought out solution regarding the apparently undecided issue of 'teams vs. no teams'."

The holographic image floating above the conference table of the superhero army was quickly replaced by an image of the Stonehenge Tower and the area surrounding it. Magus deftly punched a few more buttons on the tables control panel and an image of both of the M-5Q Tanks instantly appeared along the maps outer edge. With his visual aids in place, Magus offered his thoughts to the group, "Due to their rather unique abilities, it is my opinion that the first M-5Q tank would best be manned by Elwood and Harvey, and the second by Epsilon, Magnetor, and Serena." Magus then continued, "Additionally, I believe our ground and air forces would serve us best if they were each split into two separate teams. Gale as the leader of 'Air One', which would consist of American Woman, Blastar, Gauntlet, Laserfire, Raven, Skyhawk, and Skylark. 'Air Two'; led by myself, would be made up of Adamas, Condor, Cure, Dynamo, Red Hawk, Shatterman, and Starbolt. For our ground assault forces I would suggest that 'Ground One' be led by Armorman Junior with Archer, Black Orchid, Klondike, Lightning Fist, Red Hildegarde, Space Racer, Tomahawk, and Volcanic Man in his command. 'Ground Two'; directed by Manta-Man, would consist of Blizzard, Dreamweaver, Evergreen, Fortress, Gunsmith, Kali, Molecule Man, and Resonator." With a look of curious skepticism on his face, Manta-Man asked, "Assuming we went along with your recommendations, what would be your plan of attack with these four teams?" Without hesitation, Gale immediately interrupted with another question, "Wait a sec, before you even start with all of that, let me ask you this . . . haven't you forgotten a few people?" Seeker provided an immediate response to gale's question, "Yeah, like me . . ." With an angry look resting firmly upon his face, Seeker barked at Magus,” . . . don't even think for second that you're taking me out of this fight!" Magus put up both his hands and began to wave them back and forth as he politely addressed the concerns of Gale and Seeker, "Yes, I have left a few heroes unaccounted for and I promise you both that I will return to your questions in just a moment, but first let me answer Manta-Man's."

Pointing to several reference points along the battlefield map, Magus started to explain his strategy, "My plan is to first draw out the forces guarding the Tower, and crush them before they have a chance to recover and rally." Not hearing any immediate resistance from the group before him, Magus continued, "With all of its defenses and electronic camouflage active, the two M-5Q Tanks would proceed slowly towards the Tower.’Air One' and 'Ground One' would be in the crew compartment of the first tank, and Air two' and 'Ground Two' in the second. Halfway to the Tower, 'Ground One' and 'Ground Two' will deploy and follow closely behind each of their respective tanks." Seeing a only small measure of interest on a few of the heroes faces, Magus began to elaborate upon the details of his plan, "With any luck the defending army would see this and immediately launch an aerial assault upon our ground forces and keep their ground units back in an effort to protect the Tower. Once their aerial units engage our ground forces we would immediately counter-attack with our own air teams. With any luck we would be able to quickly overtake the enemies’ aerial defenders; at which point they would surely mobilize their ground forces in support." Growing a bit more comfortable with the way he's presenting his idea's, Magus started to summarize his thoughts, "I'm confident that this strategy would not only remove the 'Home Field Advantage' as you yanks call it from our foe, but would also allow us to temporarily divide their forces." Satisfied that he gave Magus more than enough time to explain his plan, Armorman Junior said mockingly, "Sounds like a great plan, I only have one problem with it." Before Magus even had a chance to ask, Armorman Junior pointed at 'The Chariot' flying high above the battlefield and asked sarcastically, "Didn't you forget something?" Without so much as a pause between questions, Gale impatiently asked, " . . . and what about the others that you said you left out?"

Magus quickly addressed both questions, "The Blackfire would of course need to be dealt with before our forces started to roll out onto the field, but it would need to be done quickly and silently. We would need to place a hard hitting commando squad on her before she could warn the Towers occupants, and that's where you would come in Seeker. You would be leading a 'Dirty Dozen' of sorts on to the Blackfire in hopes of either taking control of her or driving her directly down the throats of the enemies’ ground forces as they try to take the field in support of their air forces." With a grim smile of excitement on his face, Seeker slammed his fist down onto the table and exclaimed, "I like it!" As if attempting to anticipate Magus' next thought, Manta-Man immediately asked, "So then this 'Commando Team' of Seeker's would naturally consist of the remaining heroes; Chat Noir, DarkStar, Enforcer, and Wraith?" Magus turned to Manta-Man and was quick to correct him, "Not entirely, I would suggest holding Wraith back as an independent intelligence operative." After a quick snicker, Armorman Junior blurted out, "So in other words, a spy." Armorman Juniors ability to state the obvious was met with an almost inaudible sigh as Magus looked at him and addressed his last statement as if it were a question, "If you're more comfortable with that term; then 'Yes', a spy." Still not completely convinced of Magus' plan, Gale spoke out, "So then only a four man 'Commando Squad to take on the entire crew of the Blackfire?" As if completely prepared for that question, Magus casually leaned over the conference table and started pushing some of the buttons on the holo-display panel and said calmly, "No, I was thinking more of a five man team." Before the holo-display can generate the image that he has requested, Magus turned to General Samuel and explained, "General; with your permission, I would like to recruit one more individual for Seekers team."

The holographic image of a brutish looking man in military style body armor and brandishing several military grade weapons suddenly appeared upon the table; a name then appeared below the man . . . Phantom. Gale then shouted out in disbelief and shock, "You're kidding, right?! That guys a lunatic!" Manta-Man then waved his hand as if to dismiss the suggestion entirely and said, "The man is a criminal." Magus then quietly scanned the faces of everyone at table for a moment and then stated in a serious tone, "Ladies and gentlemen, please let us not forget that what we're about to engage in is not some common street brawl against a few random villains, but rather a fight for our very existence as a species." Realizing that he had captured the attention of his peers with this statement, Magus continued, "If we are not successful here, then all hope is lost." The superheroes sitting at the table suddenly felt the weight of what it was they must do fall upon their shoulders as Magus began to circle the table slowly and finished handing them a healthy dose of reality, "Make no mistake people; this is a war . . . a war where our very right of existence is at stake. When confronted by our enemy I can assure you of only two things . . . no mercy will be granted and no quarter will be given." All eyes now rested firmly on Magus as he slowly walked up to General Samuel and said calmly, "If you feel your men can at least locate him, I'm confident that Wraith will be able to assist us with getting him here as quickly as possible."

As Magus waited for a response, General Samuel just sat back and stared at the holographic battlefield stretched out before him. A few moments later he turned and said to Magus, "I like your ideas and your plan has some merit . . . but as for the location of your psychotic vigilante, I have no clue where he is." Just as everyone thought that Magus' plan seemed to be unraveling right before their eyes, a sly smirk appeared on General Samuel’s face as he continued, "It is not the role of the U.S. Military to track or monitor American citizens regardless of their criminal activities, but I do know whose job it is . . . "

Pressing a button on the conference table, General Samuel barked out an order to the attached intercom, "Send in Tracer and Prince!" Half a minute later the door to the conference room opened two men walk in, one was wearing a high-tech super-costume and the other is wearing a dark suit and sunglasses. As the two men approach the General, General Samuel said to the group of assembled team leaders, "Ladies and gentlemen this is C.H.E.S.S. Bishop Prince

and Agent Tracer of the DSA."
He then looked at the two men and said, "Tracer, I need of your special talents." He then showed the man in the high-tech costume the image of Phantom floating above the holo-table and then continued, "I need you to find this man and bring him back here in one piece, and I need him here five minutes ago." Tracer nodded his head in understanding, as the General continued the mission briefing, "Bishop Prince here will accompany you on this mission just in case the target needs some additional 'convincing'." An evil grin crept out from underneath Bishop Prince's sunglasses just as the General barked out another order, "Gentlemen, you are dismissed." Magus then cleared his throat in an attempt to grab General Samuel's attention and then said, "General . . ." General Samuel turned to look at Magus and then turned back to face Tracer and Bishop as they started to make their way out of the room and said, " . . . and take Wraith with you . . . he's with the others out in the general assembly area." Magus then bowed his head a bit and said politely, "Thank you, sir."

Just under half an hour passed by as the team leaders start to wrap up their meeting and finalized the details of their battle-plan when all of a sudden a voice comes through on the intercom, "General, there is an incoming communication from an Agent Tracer of the DSA on a secure C.H.E.S.S. channel, he is requesting to speak with you." The General responded quickly, "Put him through!" A second later the muffled sound of high-powered aircraft engines could be heard in the background as an unfamiliar voice comes through on the intercom, "General, this is Tracer. We have the package and we are inbound for delivery." The General then asked; "Any injuries?", and was met quickly with a response, "No, sir." Pleased by this information, the General responded back with a slight smile on his face, "Outstanding! Bring it home, soldier," Then General then turned off the intercom and looked out at the Task-force leaders in front of him and said firmly, "Our army appears to be assembled, let’s go meet the enemy!" As the room began to clear, the General stayed back and started to stare at the holographic battlefield image once again. With the room quickly emptied, General Samuel stood alone with his thoughts for a couple of minutes before saying aloud, "May God have mercy on us all."

All the heroes were lead to the staging area. They watched as the tanks were drove into place to be loaded into the cargo planes. The heroes were introduced to the two heroes who would be driving them.

First there was an Agent from MEDUSA. His name was War Wagon. He signaled all clear from the driver’s seat and then the door opened. Instead of steps or a ladder to climb in by it was a hydraulic lift. It lowered War Wagon down onto the ground.
Director Vlasov beamed with pride. “You are looking at the latest in MEDUSA and DeBrandt Corporation technological advancement. DeBrandt Corporation is the world's leader in military hardware. With them, The Super Forces developed the M-5Q, the meta-generation’s tank but at MEDUSA it is about empowering the individual agent.”

DarkStar did not hear the last of the words spoken by the Director because Cybil informed him who War Wagon was. It was his friend Kevin Vanderiaan!!!

The second driver exited the other tank. General Samuel called Black Orchid and DarkStar over to meet the driver. General Samuel explained that CHESS and GIANT wanted them to work with the driver and DeBrandt Corporation.
“I am Centurion X.  Though new to the hero community, I have been asked to assist with the issue of the impending Domain invasion.  Although the gathering heroes may well, indeed, be able to turn back the tide, the fact remains that they have already been stopped once.  They are determined.  A more permanent solution needs to be crafted.  I have included all telemetry on the previous portal.  I believe that I can establish that solution in approximately three months.  With your technical expertise and assistance, I believe we may be able to cut that time by 66%, or one month.  I have resources at my disposal that will aid us in this effort.

“Though capable of completing this without aid, having the world's heroes bashing their heads time and time again for a period of three months is asking too much.  Only by cooperation may we stem off this threat in a reasonable amount of time.

“My intentions are to build a series of 32 satellites in orbit around the earth.  These satellites would be capable of responding to an inter-dimensional threat anywhere on the face of the Earth.  The gravimetric impulse cannon mounted on each would require 3 of 4 security codes to activate and only one to deactivate.  To save time, we would need to have supers capable of escape velocity and lifting strength carry these into orbit.  Positional thrusters could then be used to guide them into their proper orbits.

“I hope to hear you thoughts very quickly.  I am open to other options, but we must decide very quickly.

“Thank You.”

Black Orchid asked, "Also, has anyone thought of setting up a fake Tarot organization to draw followers away from the Major Arcana?"

General Samuel looked at the three of them. “Those are great ideas. After we win this battle we will have to get started on them.”

The General called the Heroes to assemble as their assignments will be given. They will meet with their squad leaders to get ready for immediate evac.
On the large screen their assignments were shown.

As they were getting with their squads, General Samuel provided a few last instructions. “I know a lot of you can get there faster than by military aircraft. This isn’t about getting there fast but coordinated. All of you will be issued StarCorp communication units. I am counting of our military, CHESS, and GIANT frequencies being jammed. Hopefully this will give us the advantage. While you are in flight, Psimon will be settling up mental blocks to keep their Telepaths from creating mental switchboards. MEDUSA will have their surveillance operatives Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) in just the local area around the Tower. FISH will be working with Doctor Arcane to prevent magical communications by the Tarot Masters.”

“We need the time you are in flight to do this. Getting there faster will prevent us from creating a ‘fog of war’ within the enemy camp”

“Okay, get ready, when a squad is properly briefed you can board. We will take off when you are ready. God speed” Having dismissed them, General Samuel left the staging area returning to the Command Center in the main part of CHESS HQ.

Seeker called his squad together.”Okay here are your assignments. DarkStar will teleport us to The Chariot. Get up as close to the Bow as possible. Red Fury usually commands from the Bow. I will engage her. Phantom will take 1 side and Enforcer the other. I don’t care which gets Starboard and which gets Port. Just take down your side fast and hard! Chat Noir spread your bad luck at you take out whoever is at the Stern. DarkStar, FISH has divined that the Blackfire floats by magic but it needs its sails to move. Your job is to disable them. Any questions?”

DarkStar discusses the abilities of his teammates. He informed Enforcer that he couldn’t be teleported why his force field was on. He would have to keep it off until after DarkStar teleported the team onto The Chariot.

The heroes boarded and were on their way.

When they were crossing the English Channel a vision appeared to each of them. However they did not know it was appearing to all of them as it seemed the vision was only appearing to each of them individually.

To The Cure the vision offered to free her from the radiation which coursed through her body. She wouldn’t be a danger to others. She would be free from her suit and could touch and hug her father again. She would be able to find her true love. To come true all she would have to do would be to put her faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To Starbolt the vision offered a future where he controlled his powers. He didn’t have to wear the special bands. In this future he was a galactic hero loved by all of Earth and a hundred other planets. To come true all he would have to do would be to put his faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To Black Orchid the vision offered to reunite her with her father. They were a family again. He wasn’t absent because of work or simply disappearing … he was the loving father she had always wished for. To come true all she would have to do would be to put her faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To Adamas the vision offered a world where he wasn’t a stranger anymore. He understood the subtle cultural nuances of life. He shared joy and laughter with friends and family, especially he shared love with his wife, Jessica. He could be at home. To come true all he would have to do would be to put his faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

There was not a vision to Elwood but he could sense something was happening to Harvey. Then Harvey projected an illusion to Elwood. In the illusion the vision offered them a world where everyone knew Harvey. All accepted them and laughed with them. No more having others laughing when Elwood and Harvey weren’t laughing. They all laughed together. They all had a good time together and everyone was oh so pleasant. Harvey and Elwood loved all the friends they had. To come true all they would have to do would be to put their faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To The Wraith the vision offered a world where his fiancé was alive. She never died and her would be murders had paid the price instead. They were marrying soon. Instead of being filled with anger and hate he was filled with love. To come true all he would have to do would be to put his faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To Red Hawk the vision offered a future where Freedom Eagle had created him. He had stored his memory into Red Hawk. It was Freedom Eagle’s desire to make sure that he always protected Megalopolis. Red Hawk wasn’t a copy, a cheat or even a Legacy. He really was Freedom Eagle reborn. Red Hawk was freed of his fear and shame and filled with love. The love that Freedom Eagle had for the citizens of Megalopolis and the love the citizens had for him, Freedom Eagle! To come true all he would have to do would be to put his faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To Archer the vision offered to reunite him with his father, Enforcer. Enforcer would mourn with him the loss of his mother. Together they would team-up with Craftsman, Lightning Fist, and Kali to fight for right and justice. Exactly the life the monks and his mother had wanted for him. Archer would love his life of adventure with his new family. To come true all he would have to do would be to put his faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To Armorman Junior the vision offered a future where no one mentions his father’s successes or that his dad was the original Armorman. The entire world viewed Armorman Junior as such a great hero that his father was only remembered as Armorman Junior’s dad and the man who help with creating the Armorman suit but it was Duane who had made it into the stuff of legends. He was loved and adore by parents worldwide as he was the perfect role model for their kids. Duane loved that he stood in no one’s shadow. To come true all he would have to do would be to put his faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To Centurion X the vision offered a future where past sins were completely forgotten. He had completely changed the legacy he had given by his parents. The DeBrandt name stood for the best that business and wealth offered to the world. His businesses provided meaningful work and self esteem to millions worldwide. His products made everyone’s’ lives better. Communities thrived and grew where he opened plants. Crime was down as well because Centurion X was there too. He was loved as the champion of the common man. Alexander loved his new life and he lived without fear of the past. To come true all he would have to do would be to put his faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To DarkStar the vision offered a world where his dream had come true. He had ended the biases and discrimination that caused Meta-beings to turn to crime. He had created a safe world for normals. No longer were there mad gods causing havoc and mayhem simply because they had the power. Normals were no longer their toys which could be easily broken when the mad gods threw their temper tantrums. There was order and precision in a world where man loved his fellow man. Each and every meta-being and normal showed that love by how they treated each other with respect, kindness, and peace.  To come true all he would have to do would be to put his faith and trust in Cr’tegorf.

To Magus the vision offered but he immediately willed it away. His heightened sense of reality immediately told him it wasn’t a true vision but a magical trap. It was a charm intended to control the emotions of the target. Magus was surprised that Cr’tegorf’s first line of defense was a ‘love spell’. He looked across the aircraft to the faces on his teammates. He was sure this wasn’t a ‘simple love spell’. He wondered if they had taken their first loses and if so, when would they know.

<Replies to your vision?>

After the Crown Guard had engaged the Megaspurs and they were sure all of its defenses and electronic camouflage active, the two M-5Q Tanks proceed slowly towards the Tower. ’Air One' and 'Ground One' were in the crew compartment of the first tank, and Air two' and 'Ground Two' in the second.

Halfway to the Tower, 'Ground One' and 'Ground Two' deployed and followed closely behind each of their respective tanks.

As hoped the defending army launched their aerial forces from the Tower. Magus gave the signal.

*Whoump*

The Tarot Masters aerial forces did not close to the edge of the coral. Instead they stayed half way between the Tower and the edge of the coral. War Wagon called to Magus over the comm.-unit. “It appears they are leery of the effects of the coral. They don’t want it to accidently force them to land if they get to close.”

“Do we move out of the coral into the open? Do we continue with our plan to lure them in?”

Manta-Man spoke using the comm.-unit, “I see movement in the thicker portions of the coral. I think there are demons moving toward us. I can’t tell the size of the force or how serious a threat they are. If we stay here, I believe we will be ambushed from the sides and the rear.”

Psimon spoke using the comm.-unit, “I can’t block their telepath’s metal switchboard. She is too powerful. I will keep her from finding out about the Black Ops team’s presence on The Chariot but I can only do it for 30 seconds. After that the Tarot Masters will know and will be able to send reinforcements.”

War Wagon said, “Waiting your commands Team Leaders”

Hey Tom

Wow, the scale you have this working at is amazing. I was so overloaded with information while reading it, I started making a list . . . Then I decided it was something DarkStar would use in the role-play. Could you double check my accuracy in the document file. I'm pretty sure between Joshua and Cybil, they could fill it with more accurate tactical info, but at the least, I hope it will make it easier for the team leaders to put some ideas together.

I'll slap it into a RP form after you check the "quality" of the information.

Regards
John R
---------------------------------------------------------------
The file is close to being accurate. I am unsure what you meant on Valiants (2 +1). There is only 2 with Telecom missing. I also couldn't tell if you notated that Blitzkrieg was missing from the Super Society.

Tom
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Tom

Yeah I haven't explained that in the TO&E have I? I allude to it in the Crusader entry. Some groups have special circumstances in the makeup of their membership. Telecom and the Valiants I think are a 2+1, Super Forces have +1 because Meganaut is missing, the Crusaders have a mix of new and young members, the Guardians are missing Agent America. The Indestructibles get a + 1 for Volcanic Man. Maybe if I make it a minus instead of a plus on teams missing a member it would make more sense?

Thanks
John R
--------------------------------------------------------------
Yes a minus for missing members and a plus for non members would make more sense

Tom

Note: Forwarded message is attached.

Are you up for a DarkStar curveball this year or rather keep Big Blue "on script"?

I totally admit this idea is inspired by a Justice League Unlimited plot line.

With world at stake, recruiting some bad guys aka Suicide Squad and/or the Darkseid storyline at the end of Season 2. Won't touch it it’s too much. If you're up for it I'll gave Rose go to the MEDUSA and Super- Forces commanders immediately

Just another crazy DS thought
John R
-------------------------------------------------------------
You are welcome to float the idea to the leadership.

Just to let you know their concern is going to be "How do we know for sure they won't turn like Captain Houston did?"

Capt. Houston? Who?

Teleporting in close, DarkStar stops Magus as he is about to enter the conference room with the leaders of the other super-teams. Rose's facial expression is easy to read. Although it's counter to his way of handling crisis situations, he is giving the team's newest member his trust. The ex-Navy Commander hands Magus an aluminum suitcase. "Here, please share these with the others. I've organized the all the data Cybil could put together on short notice. I hope it can help the decision making process. I might be bouncing around a bit, but if you need me just whistle. I'll be there in a 'blink'. "

Turning to find General Samuel and Director Vlasov, Joshua halts and looks back. "There are a large number of Independent super-heroes in that assembly hall. It might go a long way toward creating some esprit de corps by inviting one of them into this "Council". Gauntlet seems to be a good man." DarkStar shakes Magus's hand before he departs to find his ex-supervisors.

*** As of this moment the team’s that have been stricken from the list are unavailable due to being engaged in prior ongoing strategic assignments. Number of some team personnel may have a plus or minus depending on the current status of that team’s roster. i.e. Volcanic Man is listed with the Indestructibles.

They correspond too neatly in number and form, to the Towers being built by the Domain in our dimension to be a coincidence.

Note: If needed StarCorp is offering to provide communication services to all members of the Super Hero Task Force during throughout the crisis.

Good Luck

How quickly old teammates are forgotten, leave MEDUSA and all is forgotten.

Tom
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay you have me confused with another DarkStar I fear (LOL) I must have missed where Houston went rogue? I thought she was a "good" guy?

Thought Process: MEDUSA and CHESS would have psyche evals on a handful of villains best suited for DarkStar could lead into the Domain to try and attack the 3 Pylons that seem to correspond to the 3 Towers in our dimension. DarkStar's concern is that even if we destroy the Tower in Stonehenge, what is to stop them from trying again on Easter Island, or Atlantis, or Shangri-La etc.

John
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Re-read the write-up on the Tarot Master - Priestess in this issue.

Interesting thought process, a villain who doesn't want to rule a part of the world and is benevolent enough to follow DarkStar into a different Dimension. Interesting, should be fun to role-play out, especially with the clock ticking.

Tom
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tsk Tsk. Lol. No no I was thinking more along lines of villains who don't like sharing. Dr Doom. Magneto. Darkseid.    Megalomaniacs like DarkStar (lol) are less apt to give in to demon bribe offers.

Of course they may not be best choice that’s why he needs the MEDUSA and the psyche eval help. Lol.

John
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know you are busy, so I will speed up the role-play on the Villains helping. There isn't a captured villain who would sign up to go to the Domain and there aren't any free villains that they know where they are. Joshua doesn't have time to find them and convince them to join.

Basically the threat while real isn't immediate enough. They believe they can defeat Cr'tgerof's forces after they have been weakened by the Heroes. They believe they can still win on Earth so while go to the Domain.

To get their help they need to believe that it is certain death to stay on Earth so going to the Domain where there is a possibility of death make sense.

All villains will question DarkStar on what destroying the pylons will accomplish. How does he know it will stop anything at all?

Leo the Lion will believe it is an attempt to use the Domain to eliminate the true threat: Himself.

Motivator will question the CHESS scientists finding. She believes the process can be reverse once Cr'tgerof is free.

Jade Emperor, Son of the Seventh level of the Celestial Heaven, will not grant Joshua an audience. His message is "It would be best that the Heroes do not lose."

Omin-Primus and the Emissaries have left Earth.

If Joshua looked to the worse (most powerful) at Fear Island Super-Penitentiary: The Infidels will welcome Cr'tgerof. Several will worship him as a god.

I hope this helps with all that is going on.

Tom

Wow
fun
Dude that's the coolest way anyone has ever told me "you wish bozo" LOL.

Seriously that's some excellent info. If I can get my Muse off her buttocks I'd like to use some of it just for fun. I really hoped going for the pylons would be an Adamas/Magus led mission. Whether the pylons are truly an important tactical target is totally a GM thing. It could be coincidence, and if asked DS couldn't do more than say it's a calculated hunch. On the other hand I don’t have a 33 Int but all that plasma energy and the coinciding numbers with the Tower seem to at least to warrant a "Recon in Force" type of operation.

PS: That Jade Emperor guy scares the crap out of me :)

John

Yo Jamey

Starbolt going to get the ball rolling with the Task Force team leaders? Magus always needs a nudge or he waits an responds at the last second (or later - lol)

The clocks ticking brother 59 minutes and counting :)

At least 5 of which DarkStar will be futilely trying to recruit an uniquely compromised special strike force only to have to go to Plan B ;)

Guys,

With Manta-Man back as team leader and Starbolt has not been invited to even join the team. I don't know what Starbolt's actions would be. I know he would offer to help however he was needed, but he isn't in charge. He would also approach Archer and thank him for his assistance against the Crushers. I would appreciate it if we could discuss his actions before I post.

Thanks,
Jamey
------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: I hadn't thought of that Jamey. I was focused on Tom's Megalopolis prelude about the young heroes stepping in for the old as they retire - something that hasn't helped "in game" yet. Good catch buddy.

Give me a IC response for Starbolt and I'll slip in something for Archer. I'm working on some stuff for him as we 'speak' :)

Thanks J-man
John R
------------------------------------------------------------------
I am not sure exactly which direction to go with him.

Jamey
------------------------------------------------------------------
Lol

Start with approaching Archer and we can banter :) David's a quite sort but has a new/renewed focus as a crimefighter I'm excited about.

I'm actually hoping he either gets to go to the Domain or be part of the attack on the Chariot. I've got this Batman-ish idea in my head :)

John
------------------------------------------------------------------
Scanning the gathering of heroes, Starbolt notices one that he had not introduced himself to. He recognizes the bowman from their fight with the Crushers. Starbolt walks up to him and extends his hand. "I did not get a chance to thank you earlier. My name is Starbolt." The Stellar-Powered Sentinel says.

Jamey
------------------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Hey guys.
Jamey I wove your approach to Archer into my initial response for him. Interestingly enough it did two things. First, it solidified in my mind a reason for the character being in such a powerful assembly of heroes. Second, the Archer is a fallen/failed monk from the Hou Yi monastery. Starbolt reminded me of a Sun God. Check out the story with this guy sometime - Taiyang Shen

Tom, I was ambiguous as far as the nature of Archer's relationship with Kali, Bishop and Enforcer. I've forgotten how much David knew regarding each of the three and could use a refresher on how far we had taken those plotlines in character. Thanks T

Of two of the figures entering the conference room, it was obvious to everyone they are martial artists. Only one is known to the other heroes. He is Lightning Fist.

He introduced his companion, Archer when they entered.

The majority of the heroes turn their attention back to Lightning Fist with the exception of three of them. Archer was keenly aware of the three sets of eyes focused on him. Those that studied him were Kali, Bishop Prince, and Enforcer.
Starbolt, The Wraith and Black Orchid recognized Archer. They had fought with him against the Crushers.

<Archer IC: response and actions>
Noticing the reaction of the other 'heroes' as Lightning Fist enters the room, Archer carefully tries to remain in his shadow. Reluctant to be noticed he politely nods to all who Lightning Fist introduces him as “the Archer”. What have you gotten me involved with Craftsman? I’m a simple archer, a shell of my former self. What do I have to offer to these god-like brings?

<Starbolt IC: response and actions>

<Archer IC: response and actions>
Even with the connection to his chi-awareness blocked by the monks, David instinctively focuses on all that which is around him. Although it was from a distance he remembers the colorful individual reaching out to him. As their hands clasp, David ‘feels’ the power emanating from ‘Starbolt’. Taiyang Shen! He glows as if a Son of the Celestial Heaven. With an effort of great will, Davis maintains his silent stoic demeanor. “Your gratitude is appreciated, but unnecessary. I was merely one of many throwing water atop a house on fire.” . . . hmm, I see now why I am here. Thank you Craftsman. Thank you Starbolt.

"Such a great assembly of heroes, the need must be great. Do you know anything about this Cr’tegorf and the demons we are to face?" As he awaits Starbolt's response, the hooded Archer keenly watches the reaction and movements of the three individuals how studied him and not Lightning Fist upon their arrival. Only the slightest shake of his hood warns Kali that now is not the time or place. It's the two American men which concern him the most. Do they know?

Kali – Nothing, it is all new

Bishop Prince - He is the CHESS Bishop which showed up to investigate the death of the Nicotine gang member by a bow wielder which occurred near the docks.

Enforcer - Nothing, it appears that while David knows that his Father is a super hero he doesn't know which one. He does know that his father worked with Lightning Fist is the past.

Thank you sir

I was pretty sure you were giving me some rope to play with the Kali plot and I tried to insinuate a underlined connection with Archer’s post, so that works well enough. Bishop I was pretty straight on. Enforcer was the unsure one. I knew Archer and Craftsman have had a conversation or two but wasn't sure how far it went. Likely Archer was focused on the "mission" lol. Thanks. I should still Reread those to keep the facts in mind and continuity intact.

Thanks again

Just for the sake of storyline continuity - How could this have all been put together by DarkStar in the blink of an eye? Unless I missed something (which is entirely possible), I don't recall there ever being any indication that there was going to be a private meeting with the team leaders until it was actually announced.

“I need to speak with the leaders of the Super Teams of Crimson Guard, Crusaders, Indestructibles, Guardians, and Super Society.” General Samuel led them into a side conference rooms.

Since this was a meeting of the Taskforce Commanders, I'm assuming that the door to the room was closed at this point. Then this took place . . .

Seeker, Manta Man, Armorman Jr, Magus, and Gale joined the General at the display table. “I need you decide if you will keep your teams together or will new teams that are designed to specific threats be created.”

Again - the only reason I ask is because I'm just trying make sure that everything you indicated DarkStar does 'works' as far as storyline continuity goes.

Hey Kev

In Game answer: DarkStar had Cybil performing a special facial recognition program the instant he teleported into the auditorium. Not too big a task for an AI with her specialty, especially considering most the heroes in attendance are teams he's actually met, helped create or have been part of the public record/news.

The information itself, is just a distillation of everything Tom revealed in the last issue into a form that was suppose to make it easier to look at and how to utilize the large number of characters and NPCs for the task set before us.

It's the kind of thing DS has done as part of his MO since day one and was just suppose to help players organize all the info easier. Do whatever you want with it

John
---------------------------------------------------------------
Cool - it makes a little more 'comic-book sense' now.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Cool

I kept thinking I needed a "score card' to keep track of all the 'players' in the game - to use a baseball analogy. So I thought I'd make one. Tom threw the kitchen sink at us. I'm still picking out smaller details I missed the first time through, but that should have all the teams, their members and how many to start the assignments with. I'd have found a way to add the known individual abilities for each hero but thought that would inhibit some potential good RP.

In a crisis like this though that should all be easy info to request from the involved fed agencies considering they are asking us to "save the world" :)  DS is just trying to put it in a TO&E form to make designating assignments easier for the Task Force leaders. Which just yesterday was brought to my attention by Jamey, that Magnus is the only player to have a character invited to that meeting. Sigh lol  So like I said early, Do what you want with it, I obviously was making it as a starting point for a multi-player discussion and that doesn’t look like its going to happen (duh me)

**Meanwhile DarkStar will start on plan B (wink)**

Later Kev - Looking forward to how you play the meeting :)

(1 hour Interlude)

The titan of transport is already searching for Gauntlet as he starts to walk from his short and emotionally intense meeting with Samuel and Vlasov, Commander Rose frustrated but hyper-active intellect is already slipped into working on an alternative. Alexi is right. What's wrong with me? Ever since we returned from the Domain, all I want to do is smash anything that has to do with that place. Donnah's alive and well according to Doc. She's not the same, but I'm proof live goes on. Dammit AA, why? No … Focus Joshua, too many lives are on the line. This is what Doc has been trying to stop since he put us together and I'm not letting the old man down.

DarkStar apologizes for interrupting the fabled Gauntlet's conversation with Kali, the beautiful villain turned vigilante. "I'm going to step out a few minutes. I was thinking some of the independent heroes might want to start thinking where they might want to lend a hand during the Crisis. They could use someone like you as a voice. Handing the veteran hero a StarCorp comm-badge. Glancing at the man's gauntlets.

I think it's time I had a chat with Doc.

*Whoump*

Not wishing to disturb Magnus while meeting with the other Task Force leaders, DarkStar focuses the amulet on his old friend. "Adamas, I have an idea and I just stepped out to confer with Doc a minute. I'll be right back. Keep me in the loop if anything happens." Opening the door, Joshua steps out into the hallway and walks down the hall, finding Doctor Arcane in his study. "Doc tell me why this is a bad idea" Slipping the scroll Adamas had given him in the Domain, Joshua lays out the mystic map. Beside it Cybil starts searching through and adjusting the star charts Rose had requested from GIANT while he was back at StarCorp Tower.

Domain Map

"Doc, tell me I'm on a wild goose chase and I'll let it go. Ever since Everest, you're only man whose judgment I've trusted more than my own. I don't dis-believe, but we both no magic isn't my thing." Pointing at the map. "But I can see patterns and this one just can't be a coincidence can it? Three Pylons on this map of the Domain. The Domain building three Towers in our dimension, after we just interrupting their ritual. "I know Stonehenge is important, but even if we stop them there, they seem to be all over the place. What's to stop them from starting again on Easter Island, or some other mystic site?"

"Doc. I'm betting Cybil finds a pattern. One which will correspond to this map and I want to take a strike force and knock out the Pylon that … is connected to Earth." A long pause as he waits for the older man's reply. This mission is better suited to Adamas or Magus. I don't belong in the Domain, but I can't ask anyone else to do something like this . . . not after what happened the New Super Society and Maxima

John
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. Arcane looked at the map. "Joshua you are correct the Pylon is connected to the Vacuum Matter Converter. Getting to the Pylon will be very difficult, it is from that flow that the Demons are coming from. The lava river is not dangerous to the Domain Demons, it is life giving to them."

"Joshua, I have tried not to pry but now I have to ask. What happened at the Khyber Pass?"

After a quiet uncomfortable pause, before Joshua answered.

"My guess is that your forces were split too thin. That when it was time for the taskforce to show up at the Pass they weren't able to because they had become over extended."

"Aren't you at risk of doing the same thing here? What if you are able to get a team into the Domain but the team here fails? It comes online before you destroy the Pylon. What then? I don't know that destroying the Pylon will do, but I know it is not an anchor between dimensions. Destroying the Pylon won't cause the Vacuum Matter Converter to disappear. "

"You have it part right Doc." Even with time quickly passing, the burden of the past few days and weeks is nothing compared to the guilt Rose had carried since that day in Pakistan. "What I regret most is good people died that day, people that I could have saved if I had stood my ground instead of trusting my so-called superiors." Shoulders slumped, Joshua sits heavily into 'his' chair beside the master mystic. "Superiors that left my team out in the cold, instead of risking a political embarrassment."

"Samuel's Super-Forces were suppose to provide cover while we made it back into Afghanistan. It was before I ... before I acquired my dark matter based powers. I was just little more than a high-tech super-agent back then." An embarrassed and regretful chuckle slips from the cerulean commander's chest. "You know, Agent America, but smarter." Shaking his head. "I just wish I'd had his courage back then.

Power of the gods and and the weaknesses of any human. You should know the temptations of that power more than most." That brings Joshua's thoughts back to all the old man has done and said since recruiting DS and the others. "I get it Doc. You're saying I'm in the position of Samuel and the Super-Forces now. I need to be there for the others when they assault the Tower."

Standing up DarkStar sides the map closer to his mentor. "Keep it safe Doc'. I think we're going to need it again before this is over." Turning to go, " . . . and thanks. You're right. Safeguard Earth first. Then go after Cr’tegorf . . . and when we do Adamas and I tear down that *&^!# Occult's castle and bring Agent America home." Shaking the old man's still strong hand. "Please tell Donnah I said hi. I better get back to CHESS headquarters."

OOC: Tom thanks awesome story stuff. My kind of fun.

John
----------------------------------------------------------
OOC: Hey Tom. If Doc can spare Lodestone for a little bit, I have an opportunity for him to make tons of cash

John
--------------------------------------------------------
If the money comes from joining the Task Force, Lodestone will ask what good is the money if you aren't around to spend it.

Tom
---------------------------------------------------------
LOL

I guess DS would say "Risk is part of his job every day. Tell ya what I'll triple it and we can bring Captain Floop in to cover his back". :) (Seriously this is a cool idea - I'm sure Doc will tell me it won't work though LOL)

John
-------------------------------------------------------------
Doc has no problem with it.

It is Lodestone that has the problem. He doesn't know what will happen if he absorbs too much magic and what will the Tarot Masters do to shut him down. He tells DarkStar that he isn't a secret weapon because Safeguard advertises his abilities on TV and the internet all the time. Also he can't control who he absorbs from so he will shut down the heroes too. He tells DarkStar he won't do it even if DarkStar gives him StarCorp and the rights to all the Diatanium produced and to be produced.

OOC: You are right it is a great idea but unfortunately the power is badly written. It does not give an outlet for the PR increase or a limit of PR he can absorb. There is no negative consequence for absorbing. So basically he is the ultimate sponge with a range which would shut down Magus and all magic users. Their only recourse is to kill him because his power points will be so high that KO him will be impossible.

I am sorry I have to story out a great idea because the mutant power is terribly written and I don't have time to fix it.

Tom

Dude no problem lol

Actually I was going to set him up as a "special" weapon to shut down the Blackfire. Inspired by how he was used when we transported the Cloak,

Okay let's switch topic to Archer's gadget arrows.
The various "sources" describe many similar yet different gadget effects. I'm hoping to start with a universal base arrow. That arrow does its base damage. Then the "gadget" arrowhead goes off as a "Carrier Attack", Unless you say otherwise, I'll assume that game mechanic makes sense.

Archer's Gadget Arrowheads
1) Explosive Arrowhead:  +3 to hit,         +1d12 damage w/ 3"radius (Rocket Ma'am)          Qty.  4
2) Sonic Arrowhead:       10% breakage. +1d12 damage w/10"radius (Highwayman)           Qty.  4
3) Flare Arrowhead:         Double normal damage, Blinding Flash w/10"radius (Enforcer)      Qty.  3
4) Paralysis Arrowhead:   as per Paralysis Ray. (Ben)                                                      Qty.  3
5) Anti-Grav Arrowhead:   multiple target's weight by -10, duration 3 turns (Apollo)               Qty.  1
6) Normal Arrowheads:                            1d8 +1d3 HTH damage                                      Qty. 30

I purposefully did not replicate similar "gadgets" i.e. Crossbow and Highwayman both have similar yet different versions of the Sonic Arrow. Which was particularly tempting. I'd like to see the effect of Sonic Powers on the Crystal Forest or Flame Powers versus the Megaspurs.

John
------------------------------------------------------------
I have been thinking about this a while.

I don't like the gadgets on the arrows as carrier attacks for two reasons.

1) The gadget arrow is suppose to be a power replacement to HtH, not in addition to it. I don't want Archer to have a more powerful Power Blast attack than the normal Power Blast rule. I just want him to have access to it. That is what the arrows represent, switch outs from HtH ability.

2) I don't what to be stuck with have 2 rolls for Archer attacks. That means even if the arrow hits then there will always be a 5% chance (natural 20) that the power doesn't hit. So I have to explain why. It isn't very comic bookish to have that high of failure rate built into the devices.

So let’s go with all the gadget arrows have sensors that cause it to trigger before impact so only the gadget power is the damage/effect and not a carrier effect.

Thanks
Tom

Gadget arrows. Will NOT use a carrier attack mechanic. Sounds like a plan Stan. Your reasoning works fine for me and I'd probably make same call if I'd had my GM thinking cap  :-)

Except I noticed something you probably don't want.

3) Flare Arrowhead:          Double damage, Blinding Flash per Light Control 10" radius (Enforcer)                 Qty.   3

I'm pretty sure you don't want Archer's arrow to actually do "double damage" as is described in the Enforcer write up ???

Light Control does 2d8 damage. It's 2d3 damage less. I'm good either way. Just wanted to be on same page come "game day" :-)

CX will request all telemetry from all sources on the ocean based portal phenomenon.  He will begin calculating the Aetheric and Quantum effects of the portal.  He will spend any time waiting running these calculations in an attempt to understand what affect the portal is having on the world around it.  Understanding this will be key in possibly stopping the newly formed portal at Stonehenge.  To this end, he will have the most powerful tablet money can buy, with him.  (ie nothing worth spending points on, just a tool to work with)  If the gravitational effects are as he thinks, there may be a chance to hold off the Dominion’s invasion.

Thanks!

Dave
-----------------------------------------------------------
There is nothing in the module and I haven't made up any details. So make up all the science stuff you want. Centurion X has the money, intellect, and the infrastructure to militarize something to stop the portal but not the time. So he can create plans and send them to his company to start working on an IR&D bomb/missile that can be ready in 3 months with the use of an inventing point.

If you want to include others in the fun. DarkStar has intellect and resources in do the science but not the infrastructure in his companies to militarize the solution. Black Orchid would be the scientist that CHESS would assign. She has the intellect and the CHESS resources.

By adding each of them, you will save 1 month time in creating it for each one added. So 3 months becomes 1 month if you include them both.

Here are their emails. You know DarkStar's player, it is John (our GM in Age of Allies): brothercaptainpugg@juno.com.

Black Orchid is played by Marc. He email is marcgacy@earthlink.net

So once the heroes stop this threat the Domain and the research is completed will not be able to use this method to attack the Earth again.

Tom
--------------------------------------------------------------
Tom,

That sounds like a great idea!  That will create a recurring deterrent to the threat.  What I was envisioning was collaborating with the high tech heroes in the field.  By utilizing the tanks as a power supply and heroes with lightning, magnetic and gravity powers to cause the portal to collapse on itself, thus destroying the tower.  The other heroes could spend the time defending the techies.  Everyone could pull together and work cooperatively.  Once the annual is done, then the tech heads could work cooperatively to find a more permanent solution to the problem.

What do you think?
Dave
----------------------------------------------------------------
An introduction of sorts; I am Centurion X.

Though capable of completing this without aid, having the world's heroes bashing their heads time and time again for a period of three months is asking too much.  Only by cooperation may we stem off this threat in a reasonable amount of time.

My intentions are to build a series of 32 satellites in orbit around the earth.

I hope to hear you thoughts very quickly.  I am open to other options, but we must decide very quickly.

Thank You,

Centurion X

OOC:  I have emailed with Thom.  By each of the characters expending an invention point and all of us making our invention rolls, we can accomplish an inter-dimensional deterrent in the passing of one month.  Please respond both IC and OOC.  This will help to 'wrap up' the ending of the annual for Tom

Dave
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Tom

Well ... I see Dave's character is a kindred spirit lol. Weaponized satellites huh?  To quote Batman "I can't begin to count how many things are wrong about that ..."  LOL. Or something like that :) you put him up this didn't you? LOL.

Dave says this is IC but I would need to know a lot more to answer properly. What is the form of the communiqué? Would need to do a deep background check on the character.  Have said plan approved through ... of I don't know ... Let's say the UN Security Council? Lol.

Yes let's let the ex-villain put of gravity cannons in space all around the planet lol. OOC on that last one of course.

The Black Orchid straightens up when she hears Hallowed Hills. "I wonder if the University is OK" she whispers to Starbolt.

Upon listening to the tale of terror, her mind races.

"I'll help in anything but the air support. I might be helpful riding with the tank. I've worked on things like this before. I can also help provide cover for the group attacking the gate, unless they can all see through darkness."

"Also, has anyone thought of setting up a fake Tarot organization to draw followers away from the Major Arcana?"

She lets Starbolt go into the secret meeting and doesn't try to join

<Red Hawk IC: response and actions> Not comfortable with the idea of inserting himself into the conversation the amazing Gauntlet is having with his 'employer', Joshua Rose aka DarkStar, Chris waits until the transport titan teleports away. Trying his best to emulate his mentors, Condor and Shatterman, who both seem very at ease in the large contingent of heroes, Chris finally speaks up. Still getting use to his identity as Red Hawk, the fledgling hero 'feels' compelled to ask a question. "I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but there seems to be a large number of us who don't belong to a 'team'." A little nervous Chris presses on, "I ...

Here is something to help with the write-ups.

Gale will recommend splitting the teams matching abilities to selected targets.

Seeker agrees with splitting teams but doing so by cheering picking. He would recommend that Klondike be put on a different team and Crimson Guard attack Chariot with other close quarter specialists being added.

Manta Man wants to keep the teams together believing knowledge of each other offsets bad match ups. All the free agents will be added to existing teams

Armorman Jr agrees with keeping teams together but recommends creating a new team with the free agents.

Magus will be the deciding vote.

Tom; I hate to ask, but would it be possible to give me a really brief idea of what the remaining available heroes can do power-wise? I can guess some of it from the pictures, but it's hard to tell with several of them. I ask only because it's kind of hard to see if I would have Magus suggest specialized teams or not. I must admit that I am leaning towards creating a few specialized teams - a 'black ops' type team similar to X-Force for example or maybe even a flight based team to act as an air force, a 'brute squad', etc. - but without knowing roughly what each person is capable of I feel I can't have Magus make an educated decision.

Doesn't have to be detailed - just a really rough overview.

If you want, we could even incorporate this into the IC leadership meeting discussion

If you don't mind me taking a few liberties here and there, I would love to work on some personalities for the Team Leaders.

Oddly enough, I just came off a Real-Life Taskforce - I work for New York City's Power company - I had a big hand in handling hundreds of men, vehicles and equipment for Brooklyn and Queens after the storms hit. So working up a Taskforce meeting with a few dozen superheroes tasked with attacking a force-field protected tower should be easy enough lol

I was just thinking - Magus's Weakness - I will work that in as much as possible with the Crossover Event, but since this is a war will there be some allowances made as far as how debilitating it is when it comes to making tactical decisions? Is it safe to assume that given the circumstance and the enemy that he realizes that no mercy or quarter will be given and that none should be given ( within reason )?

Also - I just needed to confirm with you the exact superheroes available for the Taskforce - please double check; and correct if need be, the following list:

Yes it is safe because Magus realizes the consequences to the world and universe if they fail.

Crimson Guard - Correct
Crusaders - Correct
Guardian - Correct
Indestructibles - Correct
Super Society - Incorrect; Blitzkrieg is missing. He was with Telecom and Meganaut who are all missing.
Solo Heroes - Incorrect; Prankster and Wonder Boy weren't invited. Leadership didn't think they were right for the job.

I like the idea of IC Leadership discussions. I will save time by having a list with generalities.  If you want to write it up with the different leaders speaking that would be great. I don't have the personalities locked in other than what is in the source material but I am glad for you to write something else if you are inspired.

Don't worry if you don't want to write them up, I will be glad to. I just wanted to save us from having to email back and forth.

I don't give specifics but guidelines compared to Guardians in the level of strength. The Guardians are the most powerful team of them all.

I'll be there in a 'blink'." Taking the brief case from DarkStar; Magus says to the 'Teleporting Titan', "Brilliant, I'm sure this will prove quite invaluable to us - thank you, DarkStar."

Turning to find General Samuel and Director Vlasov, Joshua halts and looks back. "There are a large number of Independent super-heroes in that assembly hall. It might go a long way toward creating some esprit de corps by inviting one of then into this 'Council'; Gauntlet seems to be a good man" DarkStar shakes Magus' hand before he departs to find his ex-supervisors.

The only woman amongst the group immediately speaks up, "I'm known as Gale, and I'm currently the leader of the Super Society." The rugged looking man to her left then says with a roguish smile, " . . . and I'm Seeker, hunter extraordinaire and leader of the Crimson Guard." Continuing clock-wise around the table, the next hero introduces himself to the others in a very business-like and dignified manner, "Manta Man, founder and leader of the Crusaders." The power-armored hero sitting next to Manta Man is the next to introduce himself, "Armorman Junior, proud leader of the Indestructibles." A long pause passes as the already introduced leaders of the Task-force sit quietly and wait for the final member of their team to finish looking at whatever it is he has resting in his lap and make his introduction. Suddenly feeling all eyes impatiently resting upon him, the final member of the Task-force closes up the holo-pad in front of him and says in an apologetic tone, " . . . oh . . . my sincere apologies. Magus, leader of the Guardians."

With a look of satisfaction on his face, General Samuel begins the meeting, "Outstanding . . . now that we've all been introduced lets get down to business." The General then pushes a button on the holo-table and a 3-D representation of the Stonehenge Tower forms at its center. As the five superheroes start to examine the holographic image of the battlefield, General Samuel continues, “We'll need teams to attack each of the following targets." The General then starts pointing out key enemy positions on the map, "The Red Fury's flying ship 'The Blackfire' otherwise known as the Chariot, the Minor Arcana Pentacles squad and the Major Arcana guarding the Towers entrance, and the Major Arcana that will surely be providing air cover. Once we've managed to get passed all of that the rest of the fight is a simple floor by floor assault of the Tower." He then presses another button on the conference table; and with each of their names floating squarely below them, a small army of holographic superheroes takes form upon it, "These are the brave men and women we have assembled to take on this mission, and each of them brings a unique and special set of superhuman abilities to the table. What we'll first need to decide is whether or not we'll be keeping each of the super-teams together or will mission specific teams be created from our existing forces.”

Once again Gale takes the initiative and starts off the discussion, "Well, if you ask me I say we split the existing teams up and start matching everyone up based on their abilities and their targets." After a brief pause, Seeker is the next to offer up his feelings on the matter, " I agree, but we should be doing a bit more 'Cherry Picking' when it comes to forming teams I think. Klondike would probably be better suited for some kind of ground assault force, while the rest of the Crimson Guard; along with a few close quarter specialists, attacks the Chariot." Manta Man is quick to respond with a different opinion on the subject however, " . . . and I disagree. keeping the existing teams together would make more sense in my opinion. Knowledge of their teammates strengths and weaknesses would definitely help to offset any potential bad match ups. As for the 'free agents', they could easily be inserted into our preexisting teams for additional support." Providing some support for a fellow high-tech hero, Armorman Junior then chimes in with his own thoughts "I'm kind of with Manta-Man on this one; let’s keep the current teams together, but instead of slipping the independent heroes into them, maybe we could form some additional teams out of them." A deafening silence then fills the room as the group once again is forced to wait for a preoccupied Magus to join the conversation. In level border-lining on an angry shout, General Samuel barks out "Magus!?" As if ripped from deep personal thought, the London born hero responds simply, “Yes?" With look of aggravated disappointment in his face, the General responds, "If you feel you can pull yourself away from whatever it is that you're reading; It looks like you're our deciding vote."

Placing a small holo-pad back into the aluminum briefcase given to him by DarkStar, Magus says in his unmistakably posh British accent, "The first order of business; as far as I'm concerned, should be to procure a reliable form of communications for our task-force. I have it on good authority that StarCorp will be proud to handle all of our communication needs, this of course includes individual communicators, command communications, and the like." The rest of the heroes just stare at Magus in disappointment and confusion. Sensing that he may have 'jumped the gun' a bit and strayed off topic, Magus immediately tries to salvage his credibility with the others with a more suitable response, "With that said, I think I have a rather well thought out solution regarding the apparently undecided issue of 'teams vs. no teams'."

The holographic image floating above the conference table of the superhero army is quickly replaced my an image of the Stonehenge Tower and the area surrounding it. Magus deftly punches a few more buttons on the tables control panel and an image of the M-5Q Tank instantly appears along the maps outer edge. With his visual aids in place, Magus offers his thoughts to the group, "Due to their rather unique abilities, it is my opinion that the M-5Q would best be manned by Elwood and Harvey, Epsilon, Magnetor, and Serena." Magus then continues, "Additionally, I believe our ground and air forces would serve us best if they were each split into two separate teams. 'Ground Two'; directed by Manta-Man, would consist of Blizzard, Dreamweaver, Evergreen, Fortress, Gunsmith, Kali, Molecule Man, and Resonator." With a look of curious skepticism on his face, Manta-Man asks, "Assuming we went along with your recommendations, what would be your plan of attack with these four teams?" Without hesitation, Gale immediately interrupts with another question, "Wait a sec, before you even start with all of that, let me ask you this . . . haven't you forgotten a few people?" Seeker provides an immediate response to gale's question, "Yeah, like me . . ." With an angry look resting firmly upon his face, Seeker barks at Magus,” . . . don't even think for second that you're taking me out of this fight!" Magus puts up both his hands and begins to wave them back and forth as he politely addresses the concerns of Gale and Seeker, "Yes, I have left a few heroes unaccounted for and I promise you both that I will return to your questions in just a moment, but first let me answer Manta-Man's."

Pointing to several reference points along the battlefield map, Magus starts to explain his strategy, "My plan is to first draw out the forces guarding the Tower, and crush them before they have a chance to recover and rally." Not hearing any immediate resistance from the group before him, Magus continues, "With all of its defenses and electronic camouflage active, the M-5Q Tank would proceed slowly towards the Tower.’Air One' and 'Air Two' would be in the crew compartment of the tank, and 'Ground One' and 'Ground Two' outside and to its rear." Seeing a small measure of interest on a few faces, Magus begins to elaborate upon the details of his plan, "With any luck the defending army would see this and immediately launch an aerial assault upon our ground forces and keep their ground units back in an effort to protect the Tower. Once their aerial units engage our ground forces we would immediately counter-attack with our own air teams. With any luck we would be able to quickly overtake the enemy’s aerial defenders; at which point they would surely mobilize their ground forces in support." Growing a bit more comfortable with the way he's presenting his idea's, Magus starts to summarize his thoughts, "I'm confident that this strategy would not only remove the 'Home Field Advantage' as you yanks call it from our foe, but would also allow us to temporarily divide their forces." Satisfied that he gave Magus more then enough time to explain his plan, Armorman Junior says mockingly, "Sounds like a great plan, I only have one problem with it." Before Magus even has a chance to ask, Armorman Junior points at 'The Chariot' flying high above the battlefield and asks sarcastically, "Didn't you forget something?" Without so much as a pause between questions, Gale impatiently asks, " . . . and what about the others that you said you left out?"

Magus quickly addresses both questions, "The Blackfire would of course need to be dealt with before our forces started to roll out onto the field, but it would need to be done quickly and silently. We would need to place a hard hitting commando squad on her before she could warn the Towers occupants, and that's where you would come in Seeker. You would be leading a 'Dirty Dozen' of sorts on to the Blackfire in hopes of either taking control of her or driving her directly down the throats of the enemies ground forces as they try to take the field in support of their air forces." With a grim smile of excitement on his face, Seeker slams his fist down onto the table and exclaims, "I like it!" As if attempting to anticipate Magus' next thought, Manta-Man immediately asks, "So then this 'Commando Team' of Seeker's would naturally consist of the remaining heroes; Chat Noir, DarkStar, Enforcer, and Wraith?" Magus turns to Manta-Man and is quick to correct him, "Not entirely, I would suggest holding Wraith back as an independent intelligence operative." After a quick snicker, Armorman Junior blurts out, "So in others word, a spy." Armorman Juniors ability to state the obvious is met with an almost inaudible sigh as Magus looks at him and addresses his last statement as if it were a question, "If you're more comfortable with that term; then 'Yes', a spy." Still not completely convinced of Magus' plan, Gale speaks out, "So then only a four man 'Commando Squad to take on the entire crew of the Blackfire?" As if completely prepared for that question, Magus casually leans over the conference table and starts pushing some of the buttons on the holo-display panel and says calmly, "No, I was thinking more of a five man team." Before the holo-display can generate the image that he has requested, Magus turns to General Samuel and explains, "General; with your permission, I would like to recruit one more individual for Seekers team."

The holographic image of a brutish looking man in military style body armor and brandishing several military grade weapons suddenly appears upon the table; a name then appears below the man . . . Phantom. Gale then shouts out in disbelief and shock, "You're kidding, right?! That guys a lunatic!" Manta-Man then waves his hand as if to dismiss the suggestion entirely and says, "The man is a criminal." Magus then quietly scans the faces of everyone at table for a moment and then states in a serious tone, "Ladies and gentlemen, please let us not forget that what we're about to engage in is not some common street brawl against a few random villains, but rather a fight for our very existence as a species." Realizing that he has captured the attention of his peers with this statement, Magus continues, "If we are not successful here, then all hope is lost." The superheroes sitting at the table suddenly feel the weight of what it is they must do fall upon their shoulders as Magus begins to circle the table slowly and finishes handing them a healthy dose of reality, "Make no mistake people; this is a war . . . a war where our very right of existence is at stake. When confronted by our enemy I can assure you of only two things . . . no mercy will be granted and no quarter will be given."

All eyes now rest firmly on Magus as he slowly walks up to General Samuel and says calmly, "If you feel your men can at least locate him, I'm confident that Wraith will be able to assist us with getting him here as quickly as possible."

Talk to you soon,

-Kev
--------------------------------------------------------------
Yes you have all the heroes.

I realized that I forgot to tell you that Space Racer has flight. Not sure if it is worth changing the teams for but wanted to make sure I let you know about my mistake in not including it.

Thanks
Tom
--------------------------------------------------------------
Actually I think you did mention that he could fly, but I decided it might be best if I mixed in two or three flyer with the Ground Teams (e.g. Manta-Man ).

OOC: Wonderful. How are you planning on recruiting him? i.e. who is going to talk to him and convince him to join?

General Samuel pondered what Magus has requested. "I like the idea but I don't know where he is." With a smirk on his face, he said. "It is illegal for the U.S. Military to track and monitor U.S. citizens regardless of their activities, but I know whose job it is."

General Samuel returned with two people. One was wearing a suit. He introduced himself as Bishop Prince of CHESS and the other introduces himself as Tracer of the DSA.

General Sameul said, "Tracer can find Phantom and I asked Bishop Prince to come along in case you need someone to do the convincing."

OOC: Kev, Please write-up Phantom joining the team. I want to take the next issue to the point where the Tanks enter Stonehenge. Both Tracer is a Standard level hero with Invisibility, Tracking system (hgt communications) and a Taser (Paralysis Ray). Prince is a Quest level hero with physical abilities comparable to Agent America. The only chance Phantom would have against them is if the Phantom prepared a trap for them.

You are welcome to use Tracer only or both. Neither will join the Superhero team because CHESS is being kept in reserve in case there is rioting on the streets while the Super Heroes are gone.

I wasn't actually planning on playing out the recruitment ( I can't see how it’s necessary for the story ), but if you would like i could always put together the 'before and after' of it. I just need a couple of questions answered before I start writing anything up though:

1. Can Wraith teleport other people or just himself? If so, how many?

2. Can I get as creative with the dialogue for this part of the story as I did with the other part of the story I already put together?

-Kev
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Keep the recruitment as simple or as complex as you would like (real time or later as flashbacks). I just need to know how to include his arrival in the story i.e. on his own free will, in cuffs, or something totally different.

1. Wraith can teleport 1 person and his range is 1 mile.

2. Yes, you can be creative in the dialogue, the only thing to let you know that Prince is an arrogant superspy who thinks he is as good as any superhero and better than the other CHESS Bishops (which he is). So if you show that side of him then I am good with how you do anything else.

Thanks
Tom

Tanks? Is there going to be more than one available to us?

If its ok - I would also like to write up a short little intro about the Task-force arriving at the Stonehenge site. I was thinking of having Magus about a hundred yards ahead of the tank(s) 'calling out' Lord Noman in order to have one of those classic 'pre-battle discussions'. Magus would of course have his communicator on so that all the heroes could hear the discussion - I thought it might make for some really cool additional drama for the issue.

-Kev
--------------------------------------------------------------
There are 2 tanks available.

If you want to have a call out to Lord Noman that is fine it won't be much of a discussion because I want to get all the players into the action. I had very few responses this last issue because I didn't give them anything to do. So I don't want that to happen for a second issue.

So I will weaver Lord Noman's response in with your dialogue but then the issue will move on. You okay with that.

OOC:

Here's the revised write-up. It includes the revised teams (based on the knowledge that there are two tanks available) and the acquisition of Phantom (he came along peacefully but reluctantly). I took the Lord Noman thing out of the equation, because based on what you said it just didn't seem to fit.

Before he leaves the podium and makes his way to a side conference room; General Samuel addresses the assembly of superheroes one last time, “I need to speak with the leaders of the Super Teams of Crimson Guard, Crusaders, Indestructibles, Guardians, and Super Society.” Realizing that the general assembly has come to a close and that the leaders of the Task-force about to meet in private to discuss a plan of action, Darkstar makes his move . . .

As if completely prepared for that question, Magus casually leans over the conference table and starts pushing some of the buttons on the holo-display panel and says calmly, "No, I was thinking more of a five man team." As Magus waited for a response, General Samuel just sat back and stared at the holographic battlefield stretched out before him. A few moments later he turned and said to Magus, "I like your ideas and your plan has some merit . . . but as for the location of your psychotic vigilante, I have no clue where he is." Just as everyone thought that Magus' plan seemed to be unraveling right before their eyes, a sly smirk appeared on General Samuel-s face as he continued, "It is not the role of the U.S. Military to track or monitor American citizens regardless of their criminal activities, but I do know who’s job it is . . . "

Pressing a button on the conference table, General Samuel barks out an order to the attached intercom, "Send in Tracer and Prince!" Half a minute later the door to the conference room open two men walk in, one is wearing a high-tech super-costume and the other is wearing a dark suit and sunglasses. As the two men approach the General, General Samuel says to the group of assembled team leaders, "Ladies and gentlemen this is C.H.E.S.S.S Bishop Prince and Agent Tracer of the DSA." He then looks at the two men and say, "Tracer, I need of your special talents." He then shows the man in the high-tech costume the image of Phantom floating above the holo-table and then continues, "I need you to find this man and bring him back here in one piece, and I need him here five minutes ago." Tracer nods his head in understanding, as the General goes on mission briefing, "Bishop Prince here will accompany you on this mission just in case the target needs some additional 'convincing'." An evil grin creeps out from underneath Bishop Prince's sunglasses just as the General barks out another order, "Gentlemen, you are dismissed." Magus then clears his throat in an attempt to grab General Samuel's attention and then says, "General . . ." General Samuel turns to look at Magus and then turns back to face Tracer and Bishop as they start to make their way out of the room and says, " . . . and take Wraith with you . . . he's with the others out in the general assembly area." Magus then bows his head a bit and says politely, "Thank you, sir."

Just under half an hour passes by as the team leaders start to wrap up their meeting and finalize the details of their battle-plan when all of a sudden a voice comes through on the intercom, "General, there is an incoming communication from an Agent Tracer of the DSA on a secure C.H.E.S.S. channel, he is requesting to speak with you." The General responded quickly, "Put him through!" A second later the muffled sound of high-powered aircraft engines can be heard in the background as an unfamiliar voice comes through on the intercom, "General, this is Tracer. We have the package and we are inbound for delivery." The General then asks; "Any injuries?", and is met quickly with a response, "No, sir." Pleased by this information, the General responds back with a slight smile on his face, "Outstanding! Bring it home, soldier," Then General then turns off the intercom and looks out at the Task-force leaders in front of him and says firmly, "Our army appears to be assembled, let’s go meet the enemy!" As the room begins to clear, the General stays back and starts to stare at the holographic battlefield image once again. With the room quickly emptied, General Samuel stands alone with his thoughts for a couple of minutes before saying aloud, "May God have mercy on us all."

The Black Orchid has only recently come to appreciate Thanksgiving. Her mother, being a native of Japan, never really put effort into the holiday since her father disappeared. The Thanksgivings at college were spent getting ahead and just when she starting to loosen up and enjoy life at the National RoboDynamics Corporation, the accident occurred. Now she's with a number of people who won't judge her for what she's become. Finally she's feeling thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving all!
