that's MY thing," Patty slurred, as she fell unconscious to the floor.
[ 8] Across the skies of Center
City, Adamas grabbed Annihilator and slammed him down
into the roof of a nearby building.
WHAM!!! Adamas slammed Annihilator into the nearest roof top. Annihilator’s
force field withstood the blow. The Alien Destroyer was able to continue the fight.
{GM Note: Adamas needed a 13 to grab Annihilator, he rolled a 10. Adamas
did 13 damage points from flying into the roof. Annihilator’s force field
stopped half of it. He rolled with most of the remaining damage. Annihilator
was still able to fight. Adamas took 13 damage points from ramming Annihilator
into the roof. His invulnerability stopped 10 points of damage. Adamas rolled
with the remaining 3 points of damage. He was still able to continue with the
fight.}
[ 7] Annihilator
fired two disintegration rays at Adamas.
ZOM!!! The first ray hit. “Enough! Let’s end this!”
{GM Note: Adamas took 11 damage points. His invulnerability stopped nothing
as the ray is Other damage type. Adamas power points were less than 10 so he
could not roll with any damage. Adamas took 11 points of damage to his Hit
Points. That is more than half of Adamas’ remaining hits points. He is knocked
out.}
Annihilator fired another disintegration ray at Adamas.
ZOM!!! The second ray missed.
{GM Note: The 2 attacks were at the same time, so Adamas was still awake
and able to defend himself.}
Annihilator flew off upward in the sky.
[ 7] Erdbeben
began to get a little nervous as he heard and saw all of the bodies dropping
around him.
[ 7] The
Black Orchid gritted her teeth. “I’ve
had enough of this”. She braced herself against the wall and then aimed a
vacuum blast directly at Ratman’s head. She hoped to keep Ratman occupied as
well so others could recover.
{GM Note: Since a head shot only provides extra damage if Hit Points are
lost and Black Orchid’s vacuum blast is a Devitalization Ray which only reduces
Power Points, I did not reduce the chance to hit for hitting the opponent’s
head. The head shot is flavor only since there is no in game benefit. Because
Black Orchid took time to aim, she gets a +2 to hit bonus. She needs a 17 for
less to hit and Black Orchid rolled a 3. She did 14 points of damage to
Ratman’s Power Points. He has no Power Points left so he is fatigued.}
ZUMPT! The vacuum blast caught Ratman
full in the face. He whimpered was he felt his energy drain from his body. He
was exhausted, he had never felt this tired in his entire life.
[ 7] Iron Maiden activated
her rocket boots again as she leaped from building into the building next to
it. She crashed through a window. Inside the building she moved in a defensive
pattern to elude her pursuer.
{GM Note: Iron Maiden went Full Defensive this turn. She does not get an
action and only ½ her normal movement, but she gains a +6 to her Defenses}

technology!" William cursed in his head and gave a mighty roar of
frustration.
Glass shattered as
the primeval scream resonated between the canyon of skyscrapers. Falling shards
were swept up in the airflow of his mighty pinions empowered the monstrously
proportioned mythical avian to dive and swoop after his quarry. Iron Maiden had
annoyingly avoided his 'Chain of Command' spell made possible by the Amulet of
Charming around his throat.
Tiredness and
frustration leant fuel to his anger. "Why is it always the technological
ones I have to fight?" he cried out to the heavens. He caught an updraft
that raised him over the rooftops scattering a flock of roosting pigeons. Iron
Maiden bounded like a field mouse, clearing impossible chasms with her rocket
powered leaps. "Enough!" screamed the dynamic Druid, his rage
building. He was feeling the pain of Annihilator's alien energy blasts and the
beast form was starting to overwhelm his own sensibilities.
William in an instinctive
moment of self-awareness immediately calmed his mind. The last thing anyone
needed was for him to lose control of this form. He regained control by
asserting his will back into the beast's mind. He needed something to focus his
mind...a memory, something to bring him back to reality. It came.
"So my little
metal mouse, let's play!"
With another mighty
sweep of his wings Dr Wildman gained even more altitude and using his hawk-like
vision he fixed his prey in his sights. He considered Iron Maiden's reliance on
technology and became determined to pluck her mid leap between two rooftops.
Unlike flight, once the leap had begun, changing direction would be impossible
mid-bound.
William recalled that
great movie 'Flash Gordon' - and the Hawkman attack on Rocketship Ajax.
"Oh well"...he grinned to himself playing the moment and the
soundtrack in his head "..who wants to live forever...third wave...".
Sweeping his pinions back like the nightmarish raptor he was, he screamed in his
best Brian Blessed voice "DIVE!" and did so...
He was too far behind to catch up with Iron Maiden before she crashed
through the window. He swerved to the side deciding he was too big to follow
her. He spied into the windows as he flew attempting to catch a glimpse of her.
Dr Wildman planned to pluck the little metal mouse from her hole.
Iron Maiden kept hidden too well, he couldn’t spot her.
GM Note: Dr Wildman attempted to acquire his target [free action], He
need a 12 or less. Dr Wildman rolled an 18. This meant he would get a -6
penalty to attack her}
Dr. Wildman could sense what room Iron Maiden was in, but he couldn’t
locate her. While he couldn’t see her, the dynamic Druid could see the wake of
her path as she knocked over chairs, lamps, papers and moved desks and cabinets
as she charged past them. Deciding to use his size to his advantage Dr Wildman
reached to where he thought she would be moving to next; grabbing everything in
the area in one of his claws.
{GM Note: Dr. Wildman has a profit of x4. That is a height of 24 feet; I
decided that giving the giant creature an area attack of 1 square or 5 feet
wouldn’t be unreasonable. Attacking an area is easier for Dr. Wildman but Iron
Maiden will get a Task Save to attempt to leap clear of the area. This was
still the best chance for Dr. Wildman to grab her.}
CRASH! The giant talon of the Roc smashed through the window. It reached in
grabbing a cloth rack, lamp, chair, and other items.
{GM Note: To attack an area, Dr Wildman needed a 19 minus any reductions
for range or other penalties. Since he failed to acquire his target, I applied
the -6 penalty to represent Dr. Wildman guessing which square Iron Maiden was
in. Dr. Wildman needed a 13 or less to hit the right square, he rolled an 8.
Success!}
As he squeezed his talons tightly Dr. Wildman felt someone trying to escape
his grasp, but she was too late. Before Iron Maiden could leap across the room,
the shape changing Druid had her in his grasp! With a savage squawk of victory,
the Roc retracted its clutched claw from the building.
{GM Note: Iron Maiden needed to make a Task Save to leap out of the area
attack and be missed by it. She started with a 2 for her Defense, then a
modifier of 9 is added for an 11. Iron Maiden gets a bonus of 6 to her Defense
for being Full Defensive. She now has a target of 17. Dr. Wildman’s defense of
1 is subtracted. Iron Maiden’s target number is 16 or less. She rolled a 20.
The second roll is a 13. She failed her Task Save. Dr. Wildman now has her in a
grapple hold}
Dr. Wildman flew back to the rest of the New Crusaders with his prey held
tightly in his claw.
[ 6] M.I.S.H.A.
crouched in his vicious dance with Ratman. A close up of his asymmetrical
technical eyes would show the adjusting and dialing of the apertures, like a
camera, under furrowed brow. Focusing on the paralyzing appendage that took out
Patty, attempt on himself and an apparent 3rd snap towards an empty space away
from them, he decided grabbing and giving bearhug was not a long-term solution
regardless of how much he wanted to pounce on wiry rascal.
Enraged as he
prepared to multi attack with 2 claws and 1 bite at Ratman. Ratman struck
first.
SNAP! The mechanical tail struck MISHA. MISHA raged as he fought to stay
conscious. MISHA failed. With a thud, he fell to the floor.
{GM Note: Ratman can use his tail attack because it is Gear. Being
fatigue has no effect on Gear. Ratman needed a 17 or less to hit. He rolled a
13. MISHA used 8 Power Points to increase his Save target. MISHA needed a 14 or
less. He rolled a 17. He failed and is unconscious. I didn’t make him depart
since Demy’s character sheet was silent to what happened when MISHA became
unconscious.}
Ratman smelled in the
air to make sure he knew where Black Orchid was.
SNAP! The mechanical tail struck Black Orchid. She fought to stay conscious.
Black Orchid’s great internal fortitude prevailed once again. Black Orchid made
a quiet, low sound that she knew Ratman’s heightened sense of hearing would
pick up. She told him that his attack didn’t affect her in the slightest.
{GM Note: Ratman needed a 17 or less to hit. He rolled a 15. Black Orchid
used with 5 Power Points to increase her Save target. Black Orchid needed a 10
or less. She rolled a 1 and a 1. The critical success table doesn’t support bonuses
from attacks requiring a save so there isn’t any game benefit gained. I rolled
it simply to let me know how awesome to make the flavor text.}
Fatigued and in shock from Black Orchid’s response to his tail lash,
Ratman raised his hands and dropped to his knees in in surrender.
[ 5] Blizzard held his
action.
[ 2] Erdbeben
felt the need to have some ambulatory allies to support him, he moved to the
nearest downed ally and attempted to help him regain consciousness. Blizzard
run up to where Dreamweaver and Erdbeben were. Dreamweaver, Blizzard, and
Erdbeben attempted to wake StrikeForce.
{GM Note: With Erdbeben, Blizzard, and Dreamweaver’s backgrounds they
were able to give StrikeForce a bonus of +8 to his roll. He needed a 15 or less
to regain consciousness. He rolled a 12.}
StrikeForce opened
his eyes to see 3 New Crusaders looking down at him. He slowly sat up.
[ 1] Rubicon
looked down at Patty, over M.I.S.H.A. on the ground, and the kneeling Ratman. He
didn’t perceive Orchid. Considering his options, he thought he had a better
opportunity to get his team member back in the fight.
Nearby her, he says,
“Ah, Patty! Let's see if I can help you padrooga." He once again took out
his med kit, checked if she was bleeding, which she wasn’t. Rubicon woke Patty
Plus up. She opened her eyes and sat up.
{GM Note: Rubicon gave Patty a bonus of +5 to her Task Save. She needed a
5 or less. Patty Plus rolled a 3.}

the ground, whichever comes first. If he
misses the grab, he'll just shoot off, trying to get out of range of those deadly
blasts.
