Adamas headed for Times Square. Along the way
he picked up Skink at Our Fair City Mall and Event Center. Skink attached
himself to Adamas back. His claws held on tightly. Adamas’ invulnerability made
it painless.
The Skink yelled “Woohoo!” as he rode on
Adamas’ back as the Diamond Dynamo flew them to Times Square.
Adamas smiled at the youthful enthusiasm, it
was good to see something so pure with everything wrong going on.
Manta-Man said, “Laserfire, you didn’t tell
us you made a friend.”
Reaching out his hand to Patty Plus,
Manta-Man said. “Hello, I am Manta-Man founder of the Crusaders and current
member of the New Crusaders. I am glad to meet you.”
Demolisher surf the Yellow Cab as it careened
into Times Square and Demolisher leapt off the car ready for action.
Adamas landed beside the other New Crusaders.
Skink did a double somersault as he leapt off
Adamas back and onto the pavement.
StrikeForce with Dr. Wildman landed the
hovercraft in Times Square.
Glancing around at the new faces, Adamas
thought to himself, it appeared our family has grown... "Welcome to the
team he says to Patty and Demolisher", as he extended his hand. Introductions completed, he turned his
attention to StrikeForce.
StrikeForce monitored news reports in the
hovercraft. When Jessica Anderson started broadcasting, he told everyone
especially Adamas. He broadcast the image with the onboard projector.
“… as the storm continues.”
“…You will not
hear from me again unless you disappoint me.” Dr. Apocalypse said.
The video
transmission ends.
StrikeForce
stopped the projection.
William turned to look at StrikeForce and the
rest of the team: "This isn't good I'm afraid. The Sorcerer Supreme has a
power level well beyond my paycheck - this going to be like stemming a tidal
wave with a bucket. Common sense would scream at us to walk away but this will
just be the start if we did. We are about to enter a world of pain and
suffering."
As if he caught his own downhearted tone Dr
Wildman did his infamous clap of hands to snap himself out of his melancholy
and with his familiar grin back on his face he said: "But hey...when did
doing the right thing not come with that cost. Perhaps we can talk some sense
into him...still let's look on the bright side...at least its stopped
raining!"
As Dr.
Wildman finished, StrikeForce added his reply. "Can't rain all the
time."
Listening in on the conversation, Adamas felt
regret that he had not stayed more in touch with Dr. Arcane and Donna... or
Pietor for that matter, maybe this could all have been avoided.
Dr Wildman waited in the Hovercraft for any
instruction from StrikeForce.
Stepping toward the exit from the craft,
StrikeForce told Dr. Wildman. "Doc, keep a watch on the comm., in case we
get any more Intel coming in."
As he exited the craft he activated his
communicator to pass information to the team. "New Crusaders, let's spread
out and put some distance between each other, so that whatever is coming can't
get us in one attack. Adamas, I need you airborne and scanning for any incoming
threat. Anyone else with enhanced senses, keep them up and your head on a
swivel, call out any incoming threats in retaliation to the clock. The
Hovercraft will be 12, and move clockwise from there. We've got this team. Take
care of yourself and watch each other backs."
StrikeForce kept his senses active and moves
50 feet from the Hovercraft, drawing his weapons, and waiting for dawn
“Something has changed. He wasn't like this before. He was a little snobbish, but we fought
together. Maybe I can get through to him
somehow.” Adamas said.
StrikeForce joined the conversation.
"Adamas, I hope that you can get through to him, but let's stay prepared.
His may be a case of power corrupting, or this may be who he really is, since
He has no need to hide himself to get what He wants."
Adamas nodded and took off, basically
hovering rooftop level of the highest building, scanning the area with his
enhanced vision.

Wildman sighed as he sat back in the cockpit of the Crusader Hovercraft as the
team moved toward their positions outside the craft.
The first thing he noticed was the low rumble
and then the raindrops that remained on the windscreen started to oscillate as
the rumble grew deeper and louder. He wiped the fog off the screen as the
orange flare filled the cockpit threatening to overwhelm his senses alongside
the roar of rocket engines.
The hovercraft rocked as the great engine
landed with an impact that juddered through the earth. It stood 60 feet tall,
illuminated by what lights remained in the buildings around it. Windows had shattered
and emptied car alarms heralded its arrival. Rocket engines were killed but
then the machine began to stir. The impossible giant of steel stepped forward
with horrific purpose, each step shaking the earth to its core.
Those few remaining clung to what fractured
courage they had left. This Engine of Apocalypse strode like a colossus with
only one purpose: destruction!
[Held] Manta-Man took off into the air. He
said, "I am going to protect the building. There might be people
inside."
[Held] Laserfire flew behind the Aquatic
Avenger. "Can't let you have all the fun!"
The Black Orchid has had a distant, worried
look on her face since the storm started, but then the giant robot arrived. The
smallest hint of a smile could almost be seen at the corner of her lips. She
wasted no time with her plan. “I’m going to distract it with a big blanket of
darkness, to keep it from causing damage. Adamas, can you punch a hole in that
thing to let me inside to see what makes it tick?
Adamas said into his comms, "I can
try!"
[Held] Adamas flew away from the battle, and
as he built up speed becoming a blur, diving for the mechanical monstrosity he thought
to himself, "Woohoo", and smiled.

Note: Adamas need the full turn to increase his speed. His held turn his flight
was 48”. The next turn he will be at 96” of flight for his diving attack. This
will be significantly less speed than when Adamas attacked Dr. Velo’s base as
he was moving at full flight to 768” in that attack.}
“If it’s not manned, at least it will have
engineering access conduits where I can move around.” Black Orchid said.
As The Black Orchid ran towards the robot,
the rest of the New Crusaders saw her raise a fist and let out an involuntary
“Yes!”
[Held] The Black Orchid turned invisible as
she moved toward the robot.
[Held] StrikeForce used his senses to scan the robot
to see if He could gather any additional information on it. Searching his
supervillian databases he was able to identify the design as the robots called
Cyberions that the New Super Society fought. The others were human size but it
was the same design.

"Adamas, if you have a chance, scan this
thing to see if it is manned or unmanned.”
Adamas did not respond as he focused on his
attack.
“Demolisher, would you attack the robots left
leg. If it can't stand, it may make it easier to take it out." The Bionic
Brawler said.
[Held] Demolisher stepped forward and spun his
sledgehammer in an intricate pattern with one hand. "Ok, this is something
I understand, starting with something big and breaking it into a bunch of
smaller pieces! The Silver Hammer of Sargantanas has really been looking
forward to this!" He had a big
smile on his face as he approached the robot and sensed the robot’s weakness.
[Held] Patty Plus's mouth dropped open.
"But we're not in Texas! Does this mean... giant horrifying
smash-your-face-in-bots are even bigger in Texas?"
She quickly considered her options. "My
best position on this play is defense, folks! I'm glad a lot of you REAL heroes
are here!" Patty activated her shield.
Replying to Patty Plus, the Cyborg Crusader told
her. "Patty, you're out here fighting side-by-side with us. I say that
makes you every bit a "REAL hero" as any one of us here is, and it is
a privilege to fight beside you. You know your abilities better than anyone, so
you know how you can best help. If by chance you do need help, just let one of
us know."
Dr Wildman watched his teammates leap into
action. His heart swelled with pride as he watched them leap, unthinking of
their own safety, into action. Skink full of youthful enthusiasm joined the
fray, Manta-Man and Laserfire took to the skies - experience steering their
actions. Black Orchid disappeared and the night time grew darker overhead; the
gigantic robot head lost in the night sky. The golden clad Adamas leaped
heavenward, lost in the darkness but for a moment as he flew higher and higher
until reaching the apex of his trajectory where he turned and dived, a living
stone slung at the 'Goliath' before him! StrikeForce was encouraging the team,
leading by example as he ran toward the leviathan full of grim purpose.
[Held] William sighed - he felt impotent and
insignificant as the conflict was joined. He jumped out of the craft with the
first aid kit thrown into a backpack. If they got through the next 30 minutes
he'd be in a better place to join the fray - for now his role was medic.
[10] The Demolisher located an access door in
the foot of the robot. This was the spot. The Demolisher hit it as hard as he
could. He smashed open the doorway creating a 10 foot wide hole.

[10] The Doomsday Robot fired flames from its
right hand. Laserfire counterblast the Doomsday Robot's attack, stopping it.

Note: Doomsday Robot rolled 7 damage points and Laserfire rolled 5 damage
points. Since neither is double the other the attacks are cancelled out.}
[ 9] The Doomsday Robot fired an electrical
bolt from its left hand. Manta-Man counterblast the Doomsday Robot's attack,
stopping it.

[ 8] The Doomsday Robot fired two Heavy Laser
Cannons from its eyes. The blasts dug huge grooves in the street.

Note: Doomsday Robot rolled a 20 on the d20 to hit. That is an automatic miss
even for a building. The second roll was a 3 so it was a fumble.}
[ 6] Black Orchid wrapped a blanket of
darkness around the robots head. She knew there might be other cameras and
sensors, but the head was a high point and a good start.
[ 5] Adamas came down on the robot from above
at high speed, smashing through the head, through the floor into the jaw. He
wasn’t able to penetrate that armor. He looked up as the 2 crew members in the
Doomsday Robot’s head hit the intruder alarm.

Note: Adamas rolled d6+d8 for his HtH damage, d8+1 for the velocity damage and
d4 for mass, keeping the two best rolls. This is how a Ramming attack is
resolved. Adamas rolled 18 points of damage. The damage is applied to both the
Robot’s armor and to Adamas himself.
For
Adamas his Invulnerability lowered it the damage to 5 points. He rolled with
all of it -5 PP.
For
the Robot, Adamas punched a 10 foot wide and 5 foot deep hole. This allowed him
to continue his ramming attack into A-Deck. He punched a 3 foot wide and 1.2
foot deep hole. This is large enough to pass through. Adamas hit the exterior
armor from the inside. There weren’t enough damage points to penetrate the
armor. Adamas stopped there.}
[3] Dr Wildman picked his way through the
combat zone using the first aid kit and his healing potions to tend to the
wounded.
[2] StrikeForce entered the smashed access
door and look up the access tunnel inside of the robot.
[2] Patty Plus prepared to reflect the
Doomsday Robot’s attack if an opportunity came up.

OOC: Adamas will use his first action to fly
away from the battle, and as he builds up speed he will come down on the robot
from above at high speed, attempting to smash through the head, into the torso...
hopefully they are focused on their target or the darkness, and don't see him
coming. Second action will depend on the
success/failure of the first. He'll
continue his attack, or attempt to protect other team mates if they appear to
be in trouble. At first, he'll be using
his strength/speed to attack, saving his energy blast until they get past the
reflective plates.
As he becomes a blur, diving for the
mechanical monstrosity he thinks to himself, "Woohoo", and smiles.
