Archer: If it wasn't for Bad Luck ... - Issue 5

“Well that could have went better. This city is filthy with meta-humans. The leader seems . . . competent. No matter,” thinks Archer after survey the results of the initial attack of his ambush of the Nicotines.  The biker gang had completed a buy of the drug Blue Xiang from the Talons of the Jade Empire.  Archer pursued the three riders in the Foundry Docks until he could set up his ambush.  He had disabled the lead rider’s bike and now he had to press his advantage while they were still surprised.
Archer rises up firing two arrows in quick succession. Both of the remaining bikes are disabled. [GM Note: 2 Broad Head arrows used and PR 2 spend for multi-attack]. Marlboro pulls out a shotgun from his broken bike and tosses it to Invulnero. Lucky Strike calls out, “Why aren’t these arrows exploding?  In a city where guys can burst into flames and shot lasers from their eyes, we are being attacked with arrows that aren’t even tricked out.  What gives?”
“Maybe this isn’t a superhero,” Invulnero replies.
"You really think the Jade Emperor is going to play fair with American street trash? Run little alley rats run."

A shadow starts moving on the rooftop.  The bikers can’t follow it and quickly lose sight of where it went.  Lucky Strike and Marlboro are visibly shaken. [GM note: Both failed Presence Save roll.  The rest of the turn they have a -4 to hit and can’t evade].

“Man, the Talons are ambushing us!” BLAM! In a panic, Marlboro fires blindly into the sky and hits Archer. [GM Note: Natural 1 rolled. Archer takes 7 damage. He rolls with all of it, PR -7].

“What a lucky sod you are!” Invulnero laughs as he raises the shotgun and fires in the same direction. KA-BLAM! Another hit. Archer drops to the rooftop in pain. [GM Note: 6 damage, Archer rolls with all of it, PR -6].

Lucky Strike fires in the same direction as well. BLAM! He misses.

Archer takes three breathes to block the pain.  Archer momentarily shifts his Spatial Awareness from double range and specifically targeting his "awareness" on Invulnero. It is an attempt to determine how "tough" this guy really is. Archer is successful in determining the lead biker is not wearing armor.  His toughness does not alter is exterior structure. [GM Note:  The stunt was successful.  It would have provided Structural Rating information if Invulnero has a rating different from flesh.]

He rises to take out two Nicotines in successive shots. Drawing a target point arrow, he fires at Marlboro.  The arrow flies true and hits a pigeon.  The arrow with the skewered pigeon drops right at the feet of Marlboro. [GM Note: Natural 20 rolled.  A pigeon flies from unseen location and gets in from of Marlboro at the exact wrong time.  Visualize the Randy Johnson hitting a bird incident.  If you don’t remember it, here is a video link http://www.spike.com/video/ball-hits-bird/2675661. Second Action Multi-attack PR -4]. The second arrow flies toward Lucky Strike piercing his jacket but missing him.

Laughing as he watches the rooftops, Invulnero Man Ravage says, “Once again the Nicotines prove it is better to be lucky than good. Grab those saddle bags and let’s get of here!”

Current Conditions:

< Due Date: Feb 9th, Actions, Goal, Replies>

OOC: Keeping the Blue Xiang out of the biker’s hands is still the primary goal. I need to know what fire escapes and stairwells the bikers can use to get to the roofs? Between the roof ledges, the cover of darkness and his heightened defenses, I’m hoping he’s fairly protected. On the other hand I wasn’t expecting a biker gang to be wearing helmets or the leader to be a meta (Invulnero? lol)
<Archer: IC> Well that could have went better. This city is filthy with meta-humans. The leader seems . . . competent. No matter.
First Action: will be to use a “multiple attack” to place a Broad Head into each of the remaining motorcycles. Hopefully with them being stationary targets it’ll be next to impossible to miss. After the shots are away he’ll keep his Spatial Awareness at double range and use half his movement to relocate to a different location amongst the rooftops. He’ll use the stealth and concealment skills he learned at the Kun Lun Yi temple to make it harder for the bikers to target him during movement.
OOC: I’ll hold the second action based on the results and responses of the bikers from the failure or success of his first action. I have a “stunt” I think you might be interested in during my second action.

Tom I never realized til our talk about "Speedsters" you wanted us to declare all out Actions at once. I can't even tell you why I had been doing it that way - til this this issue apparently. Here's Archer's 2nd Action options for this Turn.

Summary of Action One: Archer used 2 broadheads for a "multiple attack" on the 2 remaining, now stationary, motorcycles. Spatial Awareness still double ranged to detect any potential interlopers. He then uses half his movement (along with his stealth and concealment skills) to relocate to another rooftop location away from fire escapes or stairwells, keeping the gang members in sight.

Prior to the half movement the mystic bowman will make a "Presence" soliloquy in a distinctly chinese accent (his Charisma isn't bad but not much to write home about either. Thinking the circumstances should help?)
<Archer: IC> "You really think the Jade Emperor is going to play fair with american street trash? Run little alley rats run."

After relocating to his secondary shooting platform, Archer will momentarily shift his Spatial Awareness from double range and specifically target his "awareness" on Invulnero. Trying to determine if my Spatial Awareness might give me an ideal how "tough" this guy really is. Is he akin to (i.e. structural rating of invulnerability) a thing of marble(7), of bronze(9) of steel(11), etc. (neat power stunt, yes , no?)

<Archer: second action options>
Option 1: If the first action's shots failed then Archer will attempt the same "multiple attack" broadhead shots on the bikes. Tom if for some reason the "multiple attack" isn't something you want as an option for Archer - then just use both actions for target point shots, one each, in the helmeted biker's chest.

Option 2: If the first action's shots succeeded in neutralizing the bikes.
               A) If the bikers are not trying to evade, Archer will go for a second "multiple attack" with target points shooting 1 into each of the helmeted bikers. Nothing fancy, dead center chest shots. If the target points happen to cause killing damage, too bad - they shouldn't have drawn firearms.
               B) If the bikers are trying to evade, Archer will target the helmeted biker closest to Invulnero with one shot. Also dead center chest.

<Archer: Goals> As stated relieving the bikers of the blue xiang is the primary goal. After that I'm trying to get the bikers to run away. Using the "Batman-ish" scare tactics, I hope to create an atmosphere that communicates to the bikers that it's more dangerous to stay around defending the product, than whatever awaits them if they fail to bring the drugs home. I'm, thinking a couple arrows in the chest are going to be even more psychologically intimidating than standard gunfire. It's unusual, and people are afraid of things they aren't mentally prepared for. "Criminals are a cowardly . . . "

Illegal drugs, unknown chinese dealers, dark alley, bike wrecks, mysterious chinese attacker . . . arrow in the chest from nowhere   .   .   .   arrow in the chest???   BOO!

<OOC: >  I'm attacking the middle biker with the ideal of dividing the third henchmen from Invulnero, hoping he'll say hell with it and run for it. I perfectly well expect "leadhead" to stick around, but a young "hero" can hope and dream right? Once/if I get a "read"on how "tough" Invulnero is I'll be better prepared to make a decision on how to handle him. If the power stunt doesn't work, I guess we'll have to go with Plan B. Okay we're on Plan B already, so maybe Plan C. I just knew there was a Dragon barrier waiting to bite me in the ass. You know (:lol) some trick arrows would have come in real handy about now  If I could have used this action to light fire to the spilled gasoline, I'm thinking they might have ran right away rather than risk all the possible attention from people and cops. Too bad David doesn't smoke I might have been able to improvise - oh well live and learn

Thanks
