Adamas landed Black Orchid as she requested and
then provided backup, hovering nearby, scanning with his enhanced vision.
Inside the hut the rest of the New Crusaders
searched for answers.
They found the hut to be empty of people. Their search did
not turn up anything which would identify who was staying here. They did find
the same mud on the ramp that was found in the Base. StrikeForce tried to find
any signs of the trace elements of the stolen chemicals but was not successful.
Manta Man said, “Okay, I think we have search enough. Let’s
tell the others what we found and start to search the rest of the island.”
As they started to leave, StrikeForce heard the tell-tale
click of disaster.
KA-BOOM!
The blast caught Manta Man full on. {GM Note: Roll a “1” so the crit hit was he
couldn’t roll with Knock Back damage, 15 damage points, -15 to HP, 1 point of
damage from Knock Back. -1 HP} Manta Man was thrown across the island. He
landed with a groan and a thud. He passed out incapacitated.
Skink was surprised by the blast. He cried in
pain as he was thrown from the hut. He flew across the water approaching the
other island. Skink gathered his wits, tucking his body, he rolled as he
landed. {20 damage points, -20HP, and 1
point damage from Knock Back. Rolled with damage, -1 PP}
The white heron looked down, from its perch in
the tree, at Skink.
Black Orchid was surprised by the explosion. The
shockwave slammed into her. She was thrown across the island into the swamp,
SPLASH!!! Black Orchid gasped for air as her head rose from the water. {12 damage points, -12HP, and 2 point damage
from Knock Back. Rolled with damage, -2 PP}
Adamas was surprised by the explosion. The
shockwave slammed into him. He resisted the force and was not moved. {22 damage points, -22 to Invulnerability}.
Adamas saw a swamp boat approaching quickly after
the explosion. The man was wearing military grab like he hadn’t seen before. It
wasn’t any US uniform he was familiar with. It appeared to be different styles
combined like they had been bought at a thrift store. This was someone new, not
Tank Commander.
The other New Crusader saw a creature rise from
the Swamp. It was large and appeared to be covered in mud.
Black Orchid communicated she would protect Manta
Man.
When StrikeForce saw the approaching adversaries,
he said, "I see that the bomb has alerted the welcome wagon. Black Orchid,
since you have Manta-Man safe, Adamas and Skink, what do you say about giving
these guys a welcoming they won't forget?!"
"Adamas, since you are closest to the guy in
the boat, why don't you give him a lift, it may loosen his tongue and gain us
some Intel. Skink, how about you and I taking on the walking mudslide."
[43] Adamas dove at full speed toward the boat avoiding
the occupant; he destroyed the boat. The
Swamp Rat was thrown into the water. Adamas’ head popped out of the water. He
stood up and looked for where Swamp Rat was thrown.
{GM Note: Destroying the boat was Adamas action for the turn.
His movement occurred before his action so he ends his turn next to the boat.}
[30] Rattled from the explosion, the Skink leapt
back up to his feet. His mask eye holes narrowing... "Playin' rough,
eh?"
He speed moved from his blast position to the
back of the small island he was on. He ran to the end of the other side,
leaping at the last minute. Skink jumped across the swamp to the island the
shack used to be on.
Skink said, "StrikeForce, I'll keep him
movin and busy and focus on baggin him quick"
The Skink scooped up a piece of framing material
from the shack, and attempting to smack mudslide with it, like a club, but with
the flat of it to splat away some of its mass. He moved into hit and run attack
position with the others against mudslide, and he was hopping mad. Letting
Adamas handle the boat, and hoping Manta Man was ok.
StrikeForce said, "Skink, if he follows you
I will attack his rear flank, he follows me, feel free to do the same.
Hopefully with teamwork we can take him out quickly."
"Grrr! Let's do it!" Skink positioned
for left flank hit and ran his splat attack. He took a major league swing at
him.
Skink missed.
[26] Walking through the flames in the spot where
the hut had once stood, the Bionic Brawler moved with a grim determination. As
reflections of the fire shimmered across his mask, StrikeForce called over the
radio, "Status report, what is everyone's condition?" Everyone except
Manta Man replied they were bruised but okay. From Manta Man there was only
silence.
Utilizing all his senses, he located where the
team was after the bomb when off and followed them as they sprang into action.
StrikeForce engaged his target attempting to
incapacitate it as quickly as possible. He dual attacked with his escrima.
The first attack struck a powerful. Sludge reeled
from the damage but still stood and wasn’t knocked back.
{GM Note: StrikeForce did 17 points of damage.}
StrikeForce’s second attack missed.
{GM Note: The turn input told me to have StrikeForce attack
from behind. I believed these instructions were given with the mindset that
Sludge would have already moved and be on the Island. It hadn’t. The swamp
water is above knee to waist deep with pockets which are much deeper. If
StrikeForce was in the water then any attacker would get a +8 bonus to hit
because of this. For this reason I kept him on land}
[21] Swamp Rat stood up in the swamp water. It
came to his waist. The military wanna-be pulled a grenade from a water proof
pouch. He pulled the pin. The Swamp Rat threw it at his wrecked swamp boat. It
hit and released a knockout gas. Adamas wasn’t able to react in time. The
Adamantium Avenger collapsed into the swamp water unconscious.
Swamp Rat ran/hopped through the swamp water to
the island. Once on the island he ran across it, taking up position behind some
trees, drawing his rifle, and searching for his next target.
[18] Sludge moved to his right. It stepped out of
the swamp water onto the island. It moved behind StrikeForce. Sludge tried to
grab StrikeForce from behind. The Bionic Brawler ducked underneath its grasped,
causing Sludge to miss.
[15] Black Orchid moved to shore and threw a dome
of darkness around Manta Man to protect him.

HP, -2 PP}
{I rolled Adamas wake up roll now so that way you know
whether he was awake next turn. I rolled an 11 on d100. He is awake. That was
his action for the turn. Adamas for this turn only has movement.}
{GM Note: I am trying to make sure the player has information
that they would have while playing face to face so they informed decisions
without breaking the reading/story experience that is why I added how much
damage StrikeForce rolled. Players will not know the Opponents splitting of
damage between PP and HP. Let me know when I give too much or if you still need
more info.}

When it is her turn, The Black Orchid will
move to shore throw a dome of darkness around Manta Man to protect him, unless
someone beats her to it. If someone does pull MM to safety she will activate
her Willpower defense instead.

Manta-Man, then the rest of us should determine who attacks whom. Does anybody
