Quest - The Lone Free Horror - Issue 50

Location: Hidden Tomb of Cor on Easter Island

The Statues of the Beetle-Warrior came to life and attacked the Guardians attempting to protect the Dome from invaders.

[35] Adamas’ eyes glow with the power of a thousand suns. He unleashed that power on the lone free Horror. All six blasts hit shattering armor and pounding him against the wall. The Horror grunted in pain but was able to roll with enough of the damage to remain standing. It still held its Pike and was able to continue the fight.

[31] "Orchid, we don't have option to be squeamish with the lives and freedom of all the Earth people's at stake. Please strike now at the guardian, I'm positive we are going to need the power of the Scythe to complete our mission."

Red Hawk followed up his last attack to the last Horror with a punch. He tried to put his fist through the opening in the armor created by his vibro-blast. He missed. The Horror dodged the punch.

[29] Thunderhead gave a warm "Thanks!" to Starbolt and moved forward to stand at Adamas' right side, proud to fight alongside heroes such as these.

ZRAKOW!! The hero of yesteryear summoned the power of the Incan goddess of the storm and blasted Adamas' foe with lightning from his steely eyes! The first blast got past its armor. The Horror grunted with extreme pain as it wasn’t able to roll with much of the damage. The second blast shattered more of its armor. Struggling not to black out the Horror stood alone against the onslaught. It continued to fight for its master.

[28] Jack Frost giggled at the encased, entrapped bug man. Then the old child skated forward to stop at Adamas' left side. He blasted Adamas' entomological enemy, using the same jest he had just played on the other bug beast.

ZING!!! Ice attack to its legs!

The armor on the Horror’s legs cracked as it was frozen. The block of ice encased it from the thighs down. It couldn’t move its legs or feet.

[23] CX attempted to finish the Horror with two punches. The first blow shattered its armor further. The second punch missed.

[22] The Horror swung its pike at the ice. Wham! It broke half of the ice from the block but wasn’t able to free itself.

[20] Starbolt maintained a defensive flying pattern while maintaining the energy construct.

[19] Black Orchid kept holding onto the scythe and evading to not get caught, but blasted the bad guy. The vacuum blast drained the last of the energy from the Horror. Its armor destroyed, trapped, and fatigued, the Horror dropped its pike in surrender.

The three Horrors crumbled to a fine powder as they attempted to convert back to statues but were too damaged to do it successfully.

The Guardians search the room. The room is hemispherical, carved out of living rock. The dome is encrusted with hundreds of small jewels.

Jack Frost recognizes the jewels. They are ancient magical gems from the reign of Cor. If a heat source is applied to a jewel it will activate floating images and tell a story. Jack believes the current phrase for this is “activate a video display”.

CX, Black Orchid, and Thunderhead found a secret door to the south of the room.

{GM Notes: Do you play the jewels, open the door, or both?}

OOC:
If this bug man was already unconscious when these heroes move, they will instead join the search for the portal.
Thunderhead will generate air pressure in here and see if the air escapes through any cracks that may be hiding a secret door.

Jack will see if he can't detect any cool drafts.

Thanks!

[Red Hawk flank attacked the lone free Horror with a vibe blast. The blast struck its armor. Exoskeleton flew into the air opening wider gaps in its armor.]

Sorry Tom, I was in New Mexico all week and I completely spaced it. If you haven't done anything with her yet, she will keep trying to hold onto the scythe and not get caught, but still blast any bad guys that seem to be getting the upper hand (not likely at this point).
