Crusade: Not Letting Them Go! - Issue 25

Location: Skyscrapers of Center City

From the Harmon Building two CHESS Skybikes took off. They were not being flown by CHESS Knights instead they were flown by supervillains. Mocker, the leader of the Crushers, and Raijin, the Asian Lightning Lord, were trying to escape the heroes who had ruined their plans.

Following after them was the Stellar Sentinel, Starbolt. He had told his teammates " I am going to pour on the speed, If the bikes can keep up that is cool, but if not I will harass them until you can catch up to us. I have no intention of letting them go."

Behind him on a CHESS Skybike was the Apache Tracker, Tomahawk. Starbolt raced to the side of the speeding Crushers. This caused them to sharply veer off between two office towers. Tomahawk cut a sharper turn eliminating the distance between them. He struck Mocker with his tomahawk as he flew across his flight path

ZOOM!

Mocker reeled from the blowing hitting him but withstood it. He veered his Skybike away.

Still on the Harmon Building, home of the Crusader Citadel, The Wraith, Teleporting Titan, mounted a Skybike behind Black Orchid, Mistress of the Vacuum, even though there were enough bikes for everybody.  "My pardons, but I don't plan to stay on this thing for long," he whispered.

"Fair enough. Hold on!" The Black Orchid looked for a moment, easily figured out the controls and gunned the Skybike toward Mocker. "You want Mocker you say? You'll get him." Using her incredible intelligence and her engineering expertise, she boosted the power of the Skybike a bit to catch up with him by managing the throttle just right.

{GM Note: Black Orchid made a successful skill check against her Engineering ability. She also used an invention point to make the improvement a one-time invention applicable for the entire time she was riding it.}

They flew after their teammates and the Crushers.

Mocker executed a barrel roll then a partial loop to bring his Skybike racing toward Tomahawk.

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Mocker’s sonic scream struck Tomahawk. The Apache warrior almost lost his grip on the Skybike. He had been hit with the blast but maintained control on the CHESS vehicle.

Starbolt circled around the manned flyers. Coming behind Mocker he fired a starbolt.

ZAP!

At the last second Mocker veered to the side, causing the stellar blast to miss.

While starting from behind Black Orchid and The Wraith quickly caught up. The Skybike outperformed the others. It was the second fastest thing in the sky behind Starbolt.

In the blink of an eye, The Wraith was gone. He had teleported away from Black Orchid’s CHESS Skybike. He appeared on the back of Tomahawk’s Skybike!

{GM Note; The Wraith rolled a natural 20 on his attempt to “grab” Mocker’s Skybike. Anything but a 20 would have been a success}

Raijin shot a lightning blast at Black Orchid.

ZWAT!

Black Orchid jerked hard on the throttle barrel rolling away from the blast. Her maneuver caused Raijin’s blast to miss her.

The storm clouds surrounding the Harmon Building left. The sky cleared. The rain stopped. The moon shone brightly.

<NEXT TURN>

VROOM!

The Skybikes and Starbolt weaved in and out of the tall skyscrapers which made up the business district of Center City.

Tomahawk veered up when Mocker and Raijin slowed down to dive under a sky bridge connecting two skyscrapers on their 21^st floors. Tomahawk poured on the speed to bring both The Wraith and him in front of Mocker. Tomahawk swung his ancient namesake weapon at the Crusher Leader.

Swish!

He missed Mocker again.

The Wraith disappeared from Tomahawk’s Skybike immediately appearing on the back of Mocker’s skycycle. The Wraith grabbed hold of Mocker’s arms. The Crusher Commander swung his elbow in an attempt to knock The Wraith off but failed to dislodge him.

Black Orchid performed a perfect loop de loop to come behind Raijin. She fired her vacuum blast at him. At the last second he veered behind a tower causing her shot to miss.

Starbolt flew past Black Orchid. He too turned and disappeared behind the tower. Coming up behind Raijin he fired his stellar blast.

ZWSST!

The bolt struck the Lightning Lord in the back. The Electrical Crusher fell forward onto the stolen Skybike, incapacitated.

<NEXT TURN>

To Tomahawk’s and Black Orchid’s surprise a screen on the CHESS Skybikes came on. It was like the new info screens that had recently been included in the higher end cars. It stated there was a CHESS Skybike that was out of control and the rider was not answering screen prompts. The screen then pulled up the instructions on how to rescue the Skybike by performing emergency linking.

Tomahawk sped up his Skybike as the automated controls from his Skybike sent a signal slowing down the out of control Skybike. As the closed the screen provided touch controls to fly the other Skybike. Using these controls he maneuvered the Skybike next to his. The two linked up side by side. The screen informed him that a maximum of 2 Skybikes could be linked. He could now control both with his own Skybike’s flight controls. He grabbed the back on Raijin’s costume with one hand to keep the unconscious Crusher from falling off. The Apache Hero flew back toward his teammates.

The Wraith having grabbed hold of Mocker teleported him five feet to the left of the Skybike.  The vacant Skybike careened out of control toward the Yamashito Electronics Tower. The Wraith let go of Mocker so he could fall to his destruction.

As he fell Mocker stretched out his arms while holding his cape. He straightened his legs and tilted his head.

AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

He let out a sonic scream in a vain attempt to fly.

{GM Note: Mocker spent an inventory point in the attempt to create a 1 time power stunt of flight. He failed his roll. I am stopping mid-turn. I need Starbolt’s and Black Orchid’s actions for this turn and everyone actions for next turn}

The Wraith will mount a Skybike behind Black Orchid, even if there are enough bikes for everybody.  "My pardons, but I don't plan to stay on this thing for long," he whispers.

Once we're in the air and within range he plans to teleport behind Mocker, grab a hold of him...and teleport him five feet to the left--so he falls to his destruction.  The Wraith himself will then teleport to a nearby roof and keep following the team and his opponents, 'porting from roof to roof.

Crusade: Squeeze Play! - Issue 24!

Location: Crusader Citadel

Outside the storm raged across Center City. A huge storm cloud settled on the top of the Harmon Building, the home of the Crusader Citadel. One CHESS Knight on a Skybike flew into the cloud to attempt to land on the rooftop. He was the last to arrive in response to the Crusaders’ Emergency Communications distress call. Lightning flashed from within the cloud as it started to ascend from the rooftop.

On the fourth floor of the Crusader Citadel a battle raged. Eyes glowing with light, the stellar powered Sentinel adjusted his flight to face this newest menace. "I would suggest that you save yourself the pain, and surrender now. It will save us time, and you can tell your friends that you put up a heck of a fight. I would advise you not to antagonize us." Starbolt was ready to blast him if he doesn't give up.

“Okay, okay, it’s obvious that with the Crushers it is every man for himself. I am more worried about my armor that what they think of me. I give.” He cut the power to his boots, slowly landed on the ground with his hands raised in a position to reinforce the fact he was surrendering.

Tomahawk took out the cuffs that the MPD gave him. He cuffed Centurion. Tomahawk removed Centurion’s helmet, tossing it to Starbolt. "That went well. I wonder how it is going with Manta Lad and Black Orchid? Do you know what she meant about Raijin on his way toward us"?

Tomahawk activated his comm. unit. "Black Orchid, Manta Lad, how is it where you are? Do you need help?"

"Black Orchid here. Manta Lad is down for the count but alive. A number of Crusaders are back in business and there are two less Crushers to worry about. We may have backup coming soon. I saw Raijin escape upstairs. Did you encounter him?"

"Black Orchid, We haven't seen anyone coming this way. Let us move toward each other, and maybe we can catch him between us and convince him to give up." Starbolt replied to Black Orchid. Taking flight The Stellar-Powered Sentinel said to his team-mates. “Let’s catch him in a squeeze play."

The Wraith quietly followed the others. 

Tomahawk stopped when he entered the stairway. He looked at the ground and the walls. “There have been people running up this stairway. One’s footsteps are very heavy and the other leaves little burns where he touches. I believe that Mocker and Raijin both have already passed here. They are heading to the roof.”

The rest of the heroes followed the terrific tracker to the roof top. When they burst onto the roof they saw there are four CHESS Knights lying unconscious on the ground.  Two of their Skybikes are parked on the roof. The other two hover above the roof with Mocker and Raijin riding them. They flew away from the rooftop.

Tomahawk ran to one of the remaining Skybikes. “They are out of my jumping range”. He yelled to his teammates. “These can’t be too hard to ride can they?” Having said that, he climbed on a Skybike starting it up.

“Black Orchid; The Wraith hurry up and get on. We must help Starbolt catch them!”

He took out the cuffs that the MPD gave him and cuffed Centurion. Tomahawk removed Centurion helmet and tossed it to Starbolt. "That went well. I wonder how it is going with Manta Lad and Black Orchid? Do you know what she meant about Raijin on his way toward us".

Tomahawk activated his comm. unit. "Black Orchid, Manta Lad, how is it where you are? Do you need help?"

He will follow Starbolt's direction on what they do next. Without direction, he will run down to the lower floors looking for Black Orchid and Manta Lad.

Wraith will quietly follow the others.  He will look for a sprinkler system overhead.  If Raijin is encountered he will look for an opportunity to telekinetically twist open the pipes and douse the electrical villain in water, hopefully short-circuiting his powers.

Crusade: Save Yourself the Pain! Issue 23

Location: Crusader Citadel

Outside the storm raged across Center City. A huge storm cloud settled on the top of the Harmon Building, the home of the Crusader Citadel. Three CHESS Knights on skybikes flew into the cloud to attempt to land on the rooftop. They were the first to arrive in response to the Crusaders’ Emergency Communications distress call. Lightning flashed from within the cloud. There were videos posted on the internet that looked like the lightning was starting at the bottom with the bolt traveling upwards. Experts noted that this was not a naturally occurring event. Most likely that lightning bolt was a meta-event or the video had been altered.

On the fourth floor of the Crusader Citadel a battle raged. Tomahawk picked up a helicopter transmission which was sitting on a work bench. It was must had been pulled out for maintenance. With an ancient war cry he threw the transmission at Centurion. Who had been waiting for the attack, the armored Crusher counterblasts the projectile. The blast shredded it into metal confetti.

The smaller parts which were circling Centurion picked up speed hitting him. A heavy wrench smashed his goggles.

On the first floor in the stairwell as she's continued down, The Black Orchid called over the intercom, "Starbolt, there's another one coming up the stairs, Raijin, the electricity master. I think he's trying to escape."

"Is Manta Lad OK?" The Black Orchid said when she finally reached the level with the Crusaders. Seeing that he was being tended to, she picked up the pace of her voice and said very quickly but clearly, ”I'm The Black Orchid, a number of us led by Manta Lad here have come to rescue you and catch the Crushers. We've beaten some, but a few are trying to get away. Detective Broyko and his men may be injured near the entrance as well."

She then dropped down to see what sort of medical attention she can provide to Manta Lad. He had been knocked unconscious but was not in need of major medical attention. The medical supplies in the Citadel would be enough. The Crusaders were free but all were suffering from the effects of the captivity. None were in condition to give chase to any of the Crushers which had still eluded capture.

Manta Man knelt down next to Black Orchid looking of Manta Lad with pride. Looking at Black Orchid, Manta Man said “Thank you for freeing us and for choosing to be a hero.”

The rest of the heroes followed the terrific tracker to the roof top. When they burst onto the roof they saw there are four CHESS Knights lying unconscious on the ground.  Two of their Skybikes are parked on the roof. The other two hover above the roof with Mocker and Raijin riding them. They flew away from the rooftop.

Tomahawk ran to one of the remaining Skybikes. “They are out of my jumping range”. He yelled to his teammates. “These can’t be too hard to ride can they?” Having said that, he climbed on a Skybike starting it up.

“Black Orchid; The Wraith hurry up and get on. We must help Starbolt catch them!”

He took out the cuffs that the MPD gave him and cuffed Centurion. Tomahawk removed Centurion helmet and tossed it to Starbolt. "That went well. I wonder how it is going with Manta Lad and Black Orchid? Do you know what she meant about Raijin on his way toward us".

Tomahawk activated his comm. unit. "Black Orchid, Manta Lad, how is it where you are? Do you need help?"

He will follow Starbolt's direction on what they do next. Without direction, he will run down to the lower floors looking for Black Orchid and Manta Lad.

Wraith will quietly follow the others.  He will look for a sprinkler system overhead.  If Raijin is encountered he will look for an opportunity to telekinetically twist open the pipes and douse the electrical villain in water, hopefully short-circuiting his powers.

The Wraith: Save Yourself the Pain! - Issue 26

Location: Crusader Citadel

Outside the storm raged across Center City. A huge storm cloud settled on the top of the Harmon Building, the home of the Crusader Citadel. Three CHESS Knights on skybikes flew into the cloud to attempt to land on the rooftop. They were the first to arrive in response to the Crusaders’ Emergency Communications distress call. Lightning flashed from within the cloud. There were videos posted on the internet that looked like the lightning was starting at the bottom with the bolt traveling upwards. Experts noted that this was not a naturally occurring event. Most likely that lightning bolt was a meta-event or the video had been altered.

On the fourth floor of the Crusader Citadel a battle raged. Tomahawk picked up a helicopter transmission which was sitting on a work bench. It was must had been pulled out for maintenance. With an ancient war cry he threw the transmission at Centurion. Who had been waiting for the attack, the armored Crusher counterblasts the projectile. The blast shredded it into metal confetti.

The smaller parts which were circling Centurion picked up speed hitting him. A heavy wrench smashed his goggles.

Eyes glowing with light, the Stellar powered Sentinel adjusted his flight to face this newest menace. "I would suggest that you save yourself the pain, and surrender now. It will save us time, and you can tell your friends that you put up a heck of a fight. I would advise you not to antagonize us." Starbolt was ready to blast him if he doesn't give up.

“Okay, okay, it’s obvious that with the Crushers it is every man for himself. I am more worried about my armor that what they think of me. I give.” He cut the power to his boots and slowly landed on the ground with his hands raised in a position to reinforce the fact he is surrendering.

On the first floor in the stairwell as she's continued down, The Black Orchid called over the intercom, "Starbolt, there's another one coming up the stairs, Raijin, the electricity master. I think he's trying to escape."

"Is Manta Lad OK?" The Black Orchid said when she finally reached the level with the Crusaders. Seeing that he was being tended to, she picked up the pace of her voice and said very quickly but clearly, ”I'm The Black Orchid, a number of us led by Manta Lad here have come to rescue you and catch the Crushers. We've beaten some, but a few are trying to get away. Detective Broyko and his men may be injured near the entrance as well."

She then dropped down to see what sort of medical attention she can provide to Manta Lad. He had been knocked unconscious but was not in need of major medical attention. The medical supplies in the Citadel would be enough. The Crusaders were free but all were suffering from the effects of the captivity. None were in condition to give chase to any of the Crushers which had still eluded capture.

Manta Man knelt down next to Black Orchid looking of Manta Lad with pride. Looking at Black Orchid, Manta Man said “Thank you for freeing us and for choosing to be a hero.”

The Wraith

The Wraith will continue his whirlwind of destruction against Centurion.  In particular, he'll try to focus some damage on his visors/eyes.

The Wraith: Tinman! - Issue 25

Location: Crusader Citadel

Through the stairway door flew their next adversary, Centurion.

"I don’t know how you defeated Marionette and Hornet, Starboy and Tonto, but you will never defeat me!" He screamed. "Crap! Where do they keep finding these guys?! Scumbags-R-Us?"

"Look, We both know how this fight is going to end, so how about you go ahead and give up and I will tell everyone how tough you were and what a good fight you put up. " At this point Starbolt's eyes began to glow as he attempted to intimidate the Centurion. "Or, do I have to get rough"?
Starbolt took flight to achieve a higher position and evade any blast that came.

SATRK!

Centurion blasted at ‘Starboy’ but his power blast was easily avoided.

Tomahawk ran over to a Mechanic’s tool box. He picked it up tools and all. He lifted ½ ton chest and threw it a Centurion.

BAM!

It struck him denting his armor. Centurion looked at him with a snarl. "Wait your turn Tonto, I will beat you down once I finish off Starboy here."

Then Centurion will suddenly find himself in a tornado of aircraft parts, battering and blinding him. The Wraith did not gesture or even look at him directly, remaining still and silent as always.

BAM! BAM!

The parts dented his armor further but wasn’t able to knock him out of the air.

                                                                     ** At the same time on the first floor **

Mocker watched as Manta Man and Enforcer moved to release the other Crusaders. While they were still recovering from the effects of the gas they were weak but Mocker wasn’t going to see if their numbers overcame their weakness. He turned and ran out of the room.

                                                                    ** At the same time on the third floor **

Sitting in the Security Monitor Console is Raijin. He is apparently meditating. There were streams of electricity flowing from him to the Console and back to him. Black Orchid created a separate the path to the Emergency Communications Console from Raijin by a wall of darkness. She moved to the ECC and activated. The single went out informing the police and CHESS that the Crusaders were in trouble.

BZZT!

An electrical blast struck the side on the ECC. Raijin said "I can’t see where you are but nothing happens here electronically without me knowing it. I would love to teach you a lesson but that will have to wait until after day."

Then Black Orchid saw Raijin run to the stairs and head toward the rooftop. She ran down the stairs to the infirmary where she found the Crusaders tending to an unconscious Manta Lad.

Sorry I'm at least on the cusp of being late for this, but examining the map...is that furniture near Centurion? If not, are there any loose objects at all near him? This will determine my next move.

The Black Orchid will separate the path to the Emergency Communications Console from Raijin by a wall of darkness. She will attempt to activate the ECC and then continue down to where Manta Lad is (I'm assuming she heard Manta Lad fall).

It is a Hanger and repair shop so it is furniture in the form of workbench, large tool box and Helicopter/Jet parts. Plenty of 50 to 500 lbs furniture and parts to choose from.
