Crusade: Issue 79 - Let's End This!

Location: Destroyers Headquarters.

HQ top floor:

"HeEEEeey, that's MY thing," Patty slurred, as she fell unconscious to the floor.

[ 8]        Across the skies of Center City, Adamas grabbed Annihilator and slammed him down into the roof of a nearby building.

WHAM!!! Adamas slammed Annihilator into the nearest roof top. Annihilator’s force field withstood the blow. The Alien Destroyer was able to continue the fight.

{GM Note: Adamas needed a 13 to grab Annihilator, he rolled a 10. Adamas did 13 damage points from flying into the roof. Annihilator’s force field stopped half of it. He rolled with most of the remaining damage. Annihilator was still able to fight. Adamas took 13 damage points from ramming Annihilator into the roof. His invulnerability stopped 10 points of damage. Adamas rolled with the remaining 3 points of damage. He was still able to continue with the fight.}

[ 7]        Annihilator fired two disintegration rays at Adamas.

ZOM!!! The first ray hit. “Enough! Let’s end this!”

{GM Note: Adamas took 11 damage points. His invulnerability stopped nothing as the ray is Other damage type. Adamas power points were less than 10 so he could not roll with any damage. Adamas took 11 points of damage to his Hit Points. That is more than half of Adamas’ remaining hits points. He is knocked out.}

Annihilator fired another disintegration ray at Adamas.

ZOM!!! The second ray missed.

{GM Note: The 2 attacks were at the same time, so Adamas was still awake and able to defend himself.}

Annihilator flew off upward in the sky.

[ 7]        Erdbeben began to get a little nervous as he heard and saw all of the bodies dropping around him.

[ 7]        The Black Orchid gritted her teeth.  “I’ve had enough of this”. She braced herself against the wall and then aimed a vacuum blast directly at Ratman’s head. She hoped to keep Ratman occupied as well so others could recover.

{GM Note: Since a head shot only provides extra damage if Hit Points are lost and Black Orchid’s vacuum blast is a Devitalization Ray which only reduces Power Points, I did not reduce the chance to hit for hitting the opponent’s head. The head shot is flavor only since there is no in game benefit. Because Black Orchid took time to aim, she gets a +2 to hit bonus. She needs a 17 for less to hit and Black Orchid rolled a 3. She did 14 points of damage to Ratman’s Power Points. He has no Power Points left so he is fatigued.}

ZUMPT! The vacuum blast caught Ratman full in the face. He whimpered was he felt his energy drain from his body. He was exhausted, he had never felt this tired in his entire life.

[ 7]        Iron Maiden activated her rocket boots again as she leaped from building into the building next to it. She crashed through a window. Inside the building she moved in a defensive pattern to elude her pursuer.

{GM Note: Iron Maiden went Full Defensive this turn. She does not get an action and only ½ her normal movement, but she gains a +6 to her Defenses}

[ 6]        "@*%$£^? technology!" William cursed in his head and gave a mighty roar of frustration.

Glass shattered as the primeval scream resonated between the canyon of skyscrapers. Falling shards were swept up in the airflow of his mighty pinions empowered the monstrously proportioned mythical avian to dive and swoop after his quarry. Iron Maiden had annoyingly avoided his 'Chain of Command' spell made possible by the Amulet of Charming around his throat.

Tiredness and frustration leant fuel to his anger. "Why is it always the technological ones I have to fight?" he cried out to the heavens. He caught an updraft that raised him over the rooftops scattering a flock of roosting pigeons. Iron Maiden bounded like a field mouse, clearing impossible chasms with her rocket powered leaps. "Enough!" screamed the dynamic Druid, his rage building. He was feeling the pain of Annihilator's alien energy blasts and the beast form was starting to overwhelm his own sensibilities.

William in an instinctive moment of self-awareness immediately calmed his mind. The last thing anyone needed was for him to lose control of this form. He regained control by asserting his will back into the beast's mind. He needed something to focus his mind...a memory, something to bring him back to reality. It came.

"So my little metal mouse, let's play!"

With another mighty sweep of his wings Dr Wildman gained even more altitude and using his hawk-like vision he fixed his prey in his sights. He considered Iron Maiden's reliance on technology and became determined to pluck her mid leap between two rooftops. Unlike flight, once the leap had begun, changing direction would be impossible mid-bound.

William recalled that great movie 'Flash Gordon' - and the Hawkman attack on Rocketship Ajax. "Oh well"...he grinned to himself playing the moment and the soundtrack in his head "..who wants to live forever...third wave...". Sweeping his pinions back like the nightmarish raptor he was, he screamed in his best Brian Blessed voice "DIVE!" and did so...

He was too far behind to catch up with Iron Maiden before she crashed through the window. He swerved to the side deciding he was too big to follow her. He spied into the windows as he flew attempting to catch a glimpse of her. Dr Wildman planned to pluck the little metal mouse from her hole.

Iron Maiden kept hidden too well, he couldn’t spot her.

GM Note: Dr Wildman attempted to acquire his target [free action], He need a 12 or less. Dr Wildman rolled an 18. This meant he would get a -6 penalty to attack her}

Dr. Wildman could sense what room Iron Maiden was in, but he couldn’t locate her. While he couldn’t see her, the dynamic Druid could see the wake of her path as she knocked over chairs, lamps, papers and moved desks and cabinets as she charged past them. Deciding to use his size to his advantage Dr Wildman reached to where he thought she would be moving to next; grabbing everything in the area in one of his claws.

{GM Note: Dr. Wildman has a profit of x4. That is a height of 24 feet; I decided that giving the giant creature an area attack of 1 square or 5 feet wouldn’t be unreasonable. Attacking an area is easier for Dr. Wildman but Iron Maiden will get a Task Save to attempt to leap clear of the area. This was still the best chance for Dr. Wildman to grab her.}

CRASH! The giant talon of the Roc smashed through the window. It reached in grabbing a cloth rack, lamp, chair, and other items.

{GM Note: To attack an area, Dr Wildman needed a 19 minus any reductions for range or other penalties. Since he failed to acquire his target, I applied the -6 penalty to represent Dr. Wildman guessing which square Iron Maiden was in. Dr. Wildman needed a 13 or less to hit the right square, he rolled an 8. Success!}

As he squeezed his talons tightly Dr. Wildman felt someone trying to escape his grasp, but she was too late. Before Iron Maiden could leap across the room, the shape changing Druid had her in his grasp! With a savage squawk of victory, the Roc retracted its clutched claw from the building.

{GM Note: Iron Maiden needed to make a Task Save to leap out of the area attack and be missed by it. She started with a 2 for her Defense, then a modifier of 9 is added for an 11. Iron Maiden gets a bonus of 6 to her Defense for being Full Defensive. She now has a target of 17. Dr. Wildman’s defense of 1 is subtracted. Iron Maiden’s target number is 16 or less. She rolled a 20. The second roll is a 13. She failed her Task Save. Dr. Wildman now has her in a grapple hold}

Dr. Wildman flew back to the rest of the New Crusaders with his prey held tightly in his claw.

[ 6]        M.I.S.H.A. crouched in his vicious dance with Ratman. A close up of his asymmetrical technical eyes would show the adjusting and dialing of the apertures, like a camera, under furrowed brow. Focusing on the paralyzing appendage that took out Patty, attempt on himself and an apparent 3rd snap towards an empty space away from them, he decided grabbing and giving bearhug was not a long-term solution regardless of how much he wanted to pounce on wiry rascal.

Enraged as he prepared to multi attack with 2 claws and 1 bite at Ratman. Ratman struck first.

SNAP! The mechanical tail struck MISHA. MISHA raged as he fought to stay conscious. MISHA failed. With a thud, he fell to the floor.

{GM Note: Ratman can use his tail attack because it is Gear. Being fatigue has no effect on Gear. Ratman needed a 17 or less to hit. He rolled a 13. MISHA used 8 Power Points to increase his Save target. MISHA needed a 14 or less. He rolled a 17. He failed and is unconscious. I didn’t make him depart since Demy’s character sheet was silent to what happened when MISHA became unconscious.}

Ratman smelled in the air to make sure he knew where Black Orchid was.

SNAP! The mechanical tail struck Black Orchid. She fought to stay conscious. Black Orchid’s great internal fortitude prevailed once again. Black Orchid made a quiet, low sound that she knew Ratman’s heightened sense of hearing would pick up. She told him that his attack didn’t affect her in the slightest.

{GM Note: Ratman needed a 17 or less to hit. He rolled a 15. Black Orchid used with 5 Power Points to increase her Save target. Black Orchid needed a 10 or less. She rolled a 1 and a 1. The critical success table doesn’t support bonuses from attacks requiring a save so there isn’t any game benefit gained. I rolled it simply to let me know how awesome to make the flavor text.}

Fatigued and in shock from Black Orchid’s response to his tail lash, Ratman raised his hands and dropped to his knees in in surrender.

[ 5]        Blizzard held his action.

[ 2]        Erdbeben felt the need to have some ambulatory allies to support him, he moved to the nearest downed ally and attempted to help him regain consciousness. Blizzard run up to where Dreamweaver and Erdbeben were. Dreamweaver, Blizzard, and Erdbeben attempted to wake StrikeForce.

{GM Note: With Erdbeben, Blizzard, and Dreamweaver’s backgrounds they were able to give StrikeForce a bonus of +8 to his roll. He needed a 15 or less to regain consciousness. He rolled a 12.}

StrikeForce opened his eyes to see 3 New Crusaders looking down at him. He slowly sat up.

[ 1]        Rubicon looked down at Patty, over M.I.S.H.A. on the ground, and the kneeling Ratman. He didn’t perceive Orchid. Considering his options, he thought he had a better opportunity to get his team member back in the fight.

Nearby her, he says, “Ah, Patty! Let's see if I can help you padrooga." He once again took out his med kit, checked if she was bleeding, which she wasn’t. Rubicon woke Patty Plus up. She opened her eyes and sat up.

{GM Note: Rubicon gave Patty a bonus of +5 to her Task Save. She needed a 5 or less. Patty Plus rolled a 3.}

---------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: Man, Adamas is seriously out of gas.  This is worse than getting hit with an A Bomb... I hadn't thought that Disintegration would bypass his defense... This is getting ugly... oh well, all in. :)

Adamas will attempt to grab Annihilator and bring him down onto the roof of a nearby building, or the ground, whichever comes first.  If he misses the grab, he'll just shoot off, trying to get out of range of those deadly blasts.

OOC: How exciting is this???

Jon

--------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: What a great round. Did I really not respond with actions?!  Ack! Sorry Tom/everyone! It's REAL important to me on the social contract and teamwork and fell through.

IC:  Rubicon looks down at Patty and over M.I.S.H.A. tangling with Ratman. (I don't think he perceives Orchid). Considering his options, he thinks he has a better opportunity to get his team member back in the fight.

Nearby her, he says, “Ah, Patty! Let's see if I can help you padrooga." He will once again take out his med kit, see if she is bleeding if incapacitated, stop the bleeding and heal if so, then attempt a task check to Wake Others.

M.I.S.H.A. crouches in his vicious dance with Ratman. (I'm not certain if M.I.S.H.A. can perceive Orchid or notice the attack against the invisible). A close up of his asymmetrical technical eyes would show the adjusting and dialing of the apertures, like a camera, under furrowed brow. Focusing on the paralyzing appendage that took out Patty, attempt on himself and an apparent 3rd snap towards an empty space away from them, he decides grabbing and giving bearhug is not a long-term solution regardless of how much he wants to pounce on wiry rascal. Enraged by multi attack with 2 claws and 1 bite at Ratman.

Hope everyone is well.

Greg

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just saying hi. No need for a response from StrikeForce, good luck everyone.

Jamey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

"HeEEEeey, that's MY thing," Patty slurs, as she falls unconscious to the floor.

OOC: After carefully reviewing my options, I'll have Patty... be unconscious :P

Sounds like she will get a chance to wake up but at a very low probability (rolling a 1)?

On the very off chance, she does wake up and can act, she will try to help with the fight with Ratman if it's still going on. But I imagine she will be in la la land for a bit.

Shane

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

 Shane,

Hope your rolls are better than mine. I'm thinking that StrikeForce will be out for a long time.

Jamey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Greg, you are correct that MISHA can't perceive where Black Orchid is. He is able to guess that Ratman isn't attacking nothing but what has to be an invisible Black Orchid.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Erdbeben begins to get a little nervous as he hears and sees all of the bodies dropping around him. Feeling the need to have some ambulatory allies to support him, he'll move to the nearest downed ally and attempt to help them regain consciousness.

Paul

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Black Orchid grits her teeth.  “I’ve had enough of this” She braces herself against the wall and then aims a vacuum blast directly at Ratman’s head. She is hoping to keep Ratman occupied as well so others can recover.

[I’m hoping to aim and do a called shot to the head. I realize this may turn out badly on several fronts, but desperate times call for desperate measures]

Marc

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Steve, I haven't heard from you. I wanted to make sure you received the last email with the next issue.

Tom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

 Hey Tom,

Thanks for the nudge. I had replied on the 26/3 but it appears I only replied to Jamey. Forgot to reply all! Doh!

Sorry about that.

Hope all is well with you

Steve

Crusade: Issue 78 - Abort!

Location: Destroyers Headquarters.

HQ top floor:

HQ roof:

[20]       Annihilator flew off into the sky away from the building.

[16]       Annihilator continued flying across Megalopolis.

[16]       Iron Maiden attempted to land the Gyro-Jet on the roof. With one wing covered in ice, she couldn’t control the aircraft’s descent. The Gyro-Jet crashed into the hanger floor. The armor withstood most of the impact. The aircraft did not blow up.

{GM Note: Since Iron Maiden was not attempting to ram, the impact damage was only its Mass dice. The vehicle had enough hit points that the impact didn’t eliminate them all. No explosion.}

Iron Maiden release the escape hatch latch. She ignited her rocket boots, leaping through the hanger opening. She leaped the opposite direction from where Dr. Wildman and Blizzard were.

{Iron Maiden could only use half her movement since she was in the vehicle. The vehicle used half or less of its movement in its crash landing. There was room for her to move through the roof without entering Dr. Wildman or Blizzard’s zone of control which is what she did.}

Dreamweaver couldn’t leap out of the path of the crashing Gyro-Jet. The aircraft smashed against her TK field. She was able to roll with what penetrated her field. She was able to remain standing.

{GM Note: Because of the jet’s size: Profile x8; (Unfortunately, the Profile and the Map don’t align. I will make sure I get that right next time). Dreamweaver, Black Orchid, Rubicon, and MISHA were hit with an Area attack from the Gyro-Jet. If they couldn’t leap out of the way, they would suffer the aircraft’s Mass dice as damage. To leap out of the way the Character’s Physical Defense is added to 9 and then 3 is subtracted for each square that must be moved outside of the area attack. They could all move to the next square to avoid the attack. Dreamweaver has a 1 for Physical Defense. Her target number is 10, she rolled a 19. She is hit by the Gyro-Jet for 7 damage. Her TK Field stops 5 and she rolls with 2. She is still standing and able to continue the fight}

Black Orchid leaped out of the path of the crashing Gyro-Jet. The aircraft smashed into the floor next to her.

{GM Note: Black Orchid has a 1 for Physical Defense. Her target number is 10, she rolled a 9. She moved 1 square away and out of the area attack.}

Rubicon leaped out of the path of the crashing Gyro-Jet. The aircraft smashed into the floor next to him.

{GM Note: Rubicon has a 2 for Physical Defense. His target number is 11, he rolled a 7. He moved 1 square away and out of the area attack.}

M.I.S.H.A couldn’t leap out of the path of the crashing Gyro-Jet. The aircraft smashed into him. He was able to roll with the standing. He was able to remain standing.

{GM Note: M.I.S.H.A. has a 1 for Physical Defense. His target number is 10, he rolled a 17. He is hit by the Gryo-Jet for 4 damage. He rolls with all 4 points of damage. He is still standing and able to continue the fight}

[15]       Adamas caught up to Annihilator.  Adamas flew in front of the Destroyer Tactical Leader.

"Going somewhere, one dance partner down, and another one running out on me?  You're going to hurt my feelings."

Adamas fired his auto-fire power blast at Annihilator.

ZZWWT!! The blast hit. Annihilator’s force field stopped most of the blast. Adamas could see that the blast did penetrate the force field. Annihilator rolled with the damage that penetrated. He was still able to fight.

{GM Note: Adamas needed a 15 to hit, he rolled a 13. Adamas rolled 10 damage points. Annihilator’s force field stopped most of the damage. Annihilator rolled with the rest.}

ZZWWT!! The blast hit. Annihilator’s force field stopped most of the blast. Adamas could see that the blast did penetrate the force field. Annihilator rolled with the damage that penetrated. He was still able to fight.

{GM Note: Adamas needed a 15 to hit, he rolled a 14. Adamas rolled 10 damage points. Annihilator’s force field stopped most of the damage. Annihilator rolled with the rest.}

ZZWWT!! The blast hit. Annihilator’s force field stopped the blast. Adamas could see that the blast didn’t penetrate the force field.

{GM Note: Adamas needed a 15 to hit, he rolled a 6. Adamas rolled 4 damage points. Annihilator’s force field stopped all the damage.}

ZZWWT!! The blast missed.

{GM Note: Adamas needed a 15 to hit, he rolled an 18.}

ZZWWT!! The blast hit. Annihilator’s force field stopped the blast. Adamas could see that the blast didn’t penetrate the force field.

{GM Note: Adamas needed a 15 to hit, he rolled a 9. Adamas rolled 7 damage points. Annihilator’s force field stopped all the damage.}

[10]       Ratman used his scientific training to try to help Chrysalis overcome the paralysis. He was unsuccessful

{GM Note: Ratman gave Chrysalis a bonus of +3 from his background and +1 from his opposing IN score. This +4 gave her a target number of 8. She rolled an 18. Chrysalis is still paralyzed.}

[ 9]        Iron Maiden activated her rocket boots again as she leaped from building-to-building rooftop to get away.

[ 8]        William grunted in frustration. He'd transformed into falcons as a druid, it was one of the first beasts shapes he had learned. He was still getting used to the forms the Helm of the Chimera offered him. Managing the form of the Roc was proving to be more challenging than he had expected.

Still, he was asserting a significant presence and clearly disrupting any plans the pilot had of escape. The problem he had now was that tactically it would be useful to assume a different shape or revert back to his normal form and use a different spell, but the process of transformation would exhaust him, and he'd be no good to anyone.

Dr Wildman flew after Iron Maiden as she leaped from rooftop to rooftop through Center City, he used his 'Chain of Command' on the pilot. He commanded to land on the nearest rooftop and surrender. Iron Maiden did not obey his command.

{GM Note: Dr Wildman needed a 14 to hit, he rolled a 14. Iron Maiden IN save to resist the Amulet of Charming. Iron Maiden needed to roll a 10 or less. She rolled a 6. She made her IN save and didn’t have to obey the Command. Dr. Wildman has only ONE charge left to use for the Amulet of Charming.}

[ 8]        Annihilator fired two disintegration rays at Adamas. “I see you are still as tough as always. I am betting that fighting Behemoth and now myself is starting to wear down the vaunted Adamas. The last time you got the isotope and we got you. Why do you think it will end differently this time?

{ http://vav-megalopolis-pbem.blogspot.com/2011/11/quest-separate-ways-issue-17.html }

ZOM!!! The ray hit. “Well, well I was right, not invulnerable to everything?”

{GM Note: Adamas took 8 damage points. His invulnerability stopped nothing as the ray is Other damage type. Adamas rolled with 1 point of damage, which is -1 PP. Adamas took 7 points of damage to his Hit Points. No Knockback from the ray. He was not knocked out and was able to continue to.}

Annihilator fired another disintegration ray at Adamas.

ZOM!!! The blast missed as Adamas dodged with a rolling scissors maneuver. “Still trying to win I see. I guess I need to show you who your betters are. ME!!”

Annihilator flew off upward in the sky and then barrel rolled to start another attack run at Adamas.

[ 7]        Dreamweaver investigated the Gryo-Jet. “Its empty! There is no one else in here. They must have somehow doubled back into the Headquarters!” She ran out the door and back down the hallway the way that she had come from earlier. Dreamweaver stopped to check on StrikeForce.

[ 6]        Erdbeben was startled by the sudden crack and hiss of Electrocutioner's electricity. Seeing Ratman with him, he suddenly got excited about the prospect of being able to add to his newly formed DNA 'collection'.

"Halt... in the name of... The LAW" Erdbeben yelled at the two Destroyers as Ratman ran out of sight. Seeing Electrocutioner activate his electric aura, Erdbeben began to realize that they were likely not going to concede to this authority as a duly deputized member of the Crusaders.

Taking action to hold the evil villains accountable for their association to the giant robot that had ravaged Times Square, as he was running up to Electro to apprehend him, he couldn't help but look over his shoulder wondering if he would have to fight Electro all by himself or if any of the other Crusaders were still within earshot of Electro's powers and would consider coming to help. He also couldn't help but wonder if Electro's powers were natural or if they were the product of some device...

Erdbeben ran up to within 20 feet of Electrocutioner and fired off two shots of his Vibro Blast before he could make good his escape.

VARR! the vibro blast hit Electrocutioner. The blast ripped through the electric field smashing Electrocutioner. He fell to the ground Knocked out.

{GM Note: Erdbeben needed a 13 to hit, he rolled a 3. Erdbeben rolled 29 points of damage. The electricity aura stopped some of the damage. Electrocutioner rolled with half of the remaining damage points. What was left was greater than half of his hit points. Electrocutioner was knocked out.}

VARR! the second vibro blast hit simultaneously. The blast ripped through the electric filed smashing into the Electric Fiend. He fell to the ground incapacitated.

{GM Note: Erdbeben needed a 13 to hit, he rolled a 12. Erdbeben rolled 17 points of damage. The electricity aura stopped some of the damage. Electrocutioner rolled with almost all the damage points. The very little damage that was left was enough to bring his hit points to zero. Electrocutioner was incapacitated.}

[ 5]        Patty realized something was going down in the hallway she just rounded the corner from, she turned around and went check it out. Patty ran past Dreamweaver, then Erdbeben. He didn’t need any help as it was easy to see that he had wiped out Electrocutioner. She ran harder back to where Chrysalis was. There Patty found Ratman trying to revive Chrysalis. Patty attacked him with her venom touch. She reached out and missed. Ratman expertly dodged out of her reach.

{GM Note: Patty Plus pushed her movement to reach back to where she was last turn. She needed a 9 to hit and rolled a 16.}

[ 4]        Blizzard fired an Ice Blast at the Gyro-Jet. It hit. Ice froze around the side of the Gyro-Jet weighting it down and covering its engines. He wanted to make sure it cooled down and there weren’t any fuel leaks. He leaped down onto his ice mounds, sliding down to the hanger floor.

[ 3]        Rubicon ran after Dreamweaver out of the hanger. He continued past Erdbeben. Rounding a hallway turn he stopped as he saw Patty Plus fighting Ratman.

 He fired a stun round from his pistol at the Ratman

BLAM! The shot hit missed.

{GM Note: Rubicon needed a 10 to hit, he rolled a 14.}

[ 3]        M.I.S.H.A. chased after Rubicon. After Remy fired his pistol, M.I.S.H.A. charged toward Ratman. He attempted to move past Ratman to cut of the Rodent Rogue’s means of escape, but Ratman anticipated the move blocking M.I.S.H.A. from moving where he wanted to.

{GM Note: MISHA attempted to move through Ratman’s zone of control. MISHA started with a base of 10. He added his physical defense bonus of 1 and subtracted Ratman’s physical defense. MISHA’s target number was 6. He rolled a 12. He had to stay in the square he was in}

In rage and frustration M.I.S.H.A attacked Ratman, he was going to slash the evil Rodent man with his claws and bite him.

CHOMP! He bit down on Ratman’s leg hard. The Rodent Rogue screamed in pain. He was hurt but he was still standing and able to flee.

{GM Note: MISHA needed a 14 to hit, he rolled a 10. MISHA rolled 10 damage points. Ratman rolled with less than half. He still had more than half of his Hit Points. He could continue to flee.}

SLASSH! M.I.S.H.A.’s claws raked across Ratman’s arm and ribcage. Again, he screamed in pain. He was hurt but he was still standing and able to flee.

{GM Note: MISHA needed a 14 to hit, he rolled a 11. MISHA rolled 10 damage points. Ratman rolled with less than half. He still had more than half of his Hit Points. He could continue to flee.}

[ 2]        Black Orchid followed the rest of the Crusaders down the hallway. She was right behind Rubicon and M.I.S.H.A even though they couldn’t see her. She passed by Patty Plus moving past M.I.S.H.A. Ratman raised his head smelling the air. “Ahh, my invisible friend is back. Sorry, I must run so I won’t be able to stay and play”, he said.

{GM Note: Each square is 5 feet so there is plenty of room for Black Orchid to pass behind Patty and MISHA. I did decide that this did negate the Zone of Control that Ratman had over the squares, so he could not stop her from entering the vacant square next to MISHA. Since the next square she moved to is out of Ratman’s zone of control, he couldn’t attempt to stop her from leaving his Zone of Control}

ZUMPT! Black Orchid blasted Ratman with her vacuum blast. Ratman moaned as he was drained of his energy.

{GM Note: Black Orchid needed a 15 to hit, she rolled 10. Black Orchid rolled 16 points of damage. All of those are taken from Ratman’s power points, -16 PP.}

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Erdbeben was startled by the sudden crack and hiss of Electrocutioner's electricity.

Taking action to hold the evil villains accountable for their association to the giant robot that had ravaged Times Square, Erdbeben ran up to within 20 feet of Electrocutioner and fired off two shots of his Vibro Blast before he could make good his escape.

Even as he was running up to Electro to apprehend him, he couldn't help but look over his shoulder wondering if he would have to fight Electro all by himself or if any of the other Crusaders were still within earshot of Electro's powers and would consider coming to help. He also couldn't help but wonder if Electro's powers were natural or if they were the product of some device...

Actions: Erdbeben will close the distance with Electrocutioner in order to get a better shot.  He'll then attack twice (-3 per attack) and hope for the best.

I'm in for the convention, I think I may talk to Angela and see about staying at the hotel.  The boys would like the pool option for downtime, and it's a trip to go back and forth to McKinney.  It looks like Jeff will be there, so it'd be cool if we could play together in a game with him again!

For my turn, I believe Adamas can fly faster than Annihilator, but he's got the advantage in turns... I'm not sure how that works.  If Adamas can catch him, he'll do that, as I'm running low on PP, I won't push it.  But getting in front of him, I'd like to hit him as many times as I can with Autofire, I think that's my best bet.

"Going somewhere, one dance partner down, and another one running out on me?  You're going to hurt my feelings."

Yeah, Texas is probably a little too far for me 😂

Hope you guys, who go, have fun, send photos!

William grunted in frustration. He'd transformed into falcons as a druid, it was one of the first beast shapes he had learned. He was still getting used to the forms the Helm of the Chimera offered him. Managing the form of the Roc was proving to be more challenging than he had expected.

Still he was asserting a significant presence and clearly disrupting any plans the pilot had of escape. The problem he had now was that tactically it would be useful to assume a different shape or revert back to his normal form and use a different spell but the process of transformation would exhaust him and he'd be no good to anyone.

Dr Wildman will continue to dominate the zone of control as best he can to prevent the craft from affecting a successful take off. To maximize this he will attempt to land on the nose and use his wings to block any visuals the pilot may have. Assuming it is a glass screen and he can see in, he will attempt to use his 'Chain of Command' on the pilot - I think it's Iron Maiden.

If successful he will command her to land the craft.

Let me know if you need any more detail.

In other business - how good was Spiderman? And I am now so ready for the Multiverse of Madness and Moon Knight (despite the dark & twisted angle - see below)...and Black Adam - it truly is a golden era of supermovies. Can't say I'm very excited about the new Batman, I loved the last trilogy and I feel I'm going to be disappointed. I'm def a 4 colour comic fan and this dark and twisted theme doesn't do it for me...tried the Boys, nah!

Eternals was a disappointment but for other reasons. It didn't make sense to me - the Celestial egg was such a flawed idea!

Anyone seen the Snyder cut? Did it improve the original JL?

Cheers

Steve

 Hi all,

Texas sounds great, but I'm trying to work Star Wars Celebration in CA and don't think I can get away from family and work to swing the TX. Hopefully in the future!

Steve,

Loved Spidermans new one! I was not a fan of the previous, but this gave closure to that. The Multi-verse seems to remain a fix all in the movie house as well as in the comics.

Dr. Strange I've always been a fan of. I never really collected him back in the day but really love his charecter and what he brings to the MCU.

Moon Knight. REALLY loved his character. I thought he was "knock off" of Batman originally, yet I'm ok with that. His character (characters?) have developed on their own path. There has been so much of the emulating  of charecter types back and forth between DC and MARVEL, but by doing so I think they've created the "Architype" mold for certain heros and team formations. I was never the biggest fan of Batman , or DC in general, although I can totally appreciate it for what it is.

Anyhoo, I very much hope Moon Knight is done well.

Fingers crossed!

 Tom, nice GMing!

"Dr Wildman missing the aircraft isn’t very likely so instead I used the flavor text of an insignificant

blow that did no damage.}"

Love this from Black Orchid:

"After a hurling a non-CCA approved epithet"

And this was classic as well:

Erdbeben began to realize that they were likely not going to concede to this authority as a duly deputized member of the Crusaders

GAME:

If Patty would realize something is going down in the hallway she just rounded the corner from, she will turn around and go check it out up to and including attacking the nearest Destroyer if possible.

If not, she will continue heading for the commotion from the hangar.

Essentially, she wants to be useful in the nearest place that needs her help. If there is an opportunity to fight when she arrives, she will.

NORTH TEXAS RPG CON:

Yes, I am planning on being there! It's a really nice con, smaller and more intimatate but with big names. It would be great to game with Tom and Co. in person, but if that doesn't work out I definitely want to meet anyone from this group that will be there in person.

My plans before hearing Tom was going were to get as much Tekumel gaming in as I could, but will definitely do V&V if I can!!

MOVIES:

Spider-Man No Way Home was a lot of fun IMO. Not my favorite superhero or even Spider-Man movie, but very much worth watching especially if you are a Spidey movie fan all the way back to the first Raimi flick.

Eternals was a decent action / superhero movie. I enjoyed it more than I expected based on word of mouth but I would say it is solidly average. I was disappointed it didn't feel more "Kirbyish" given he created the Eternals and his massive influence on superhero comics in general.

The Justice League Snyder Cut is amazing in my opinion. Joss Whedon's theatrical version is a brighter, popcorn superhero movie. The Snyder Cut is deeper and engaging, and this from someone who is not the biggest fan of the Snyder take on the DC universe. It's 4 hours but didn't feel like it, I wanted more when it ended. Sort of the same way I thought the theatrical cut of Batman V Superman was weak and uneven, while the Ultimate Edition (director's cut, essentially) was very enjoyable.

I dee a pretty deep five of the Snyder Cut on my podcast:

Here's the youtube version (same thing, just audio but on YouTube for convenience's sake)
