Plans
in the shadows
[9]
Dr Wildman hung upside down in the shadows caused by the electric lights hung
from the roughhewn cave roof. He trusted that his Amulet of Command would
shield his mind as much as his size and the shadows hid his physical presence.
Before him were five supernatural heavyweights and being noticed at this
juncture would not be an effective recipe for survival.
‘Let
Annihilator and Cyberdoom thin the numbers a bit with their petty squabbles.’
he mused to himself as the alien aggressor flew out of the cave in vengeful
spite.
William
looked around for options. Starbolt looked comatose and was clearly restrained.
Nothing there.
Stormlord
was obviously not at all aggrieved that Dr Apocalypse had almost killed him a
few hours earlier - Stanislas clearly continued to have an over aggrandizement
of his own station…a scepter for goodness sakes! William had always hoped that
Stormlord would see the light - as his grandfather had - but the darkness, for
now, consumed him. Nothing there...for now
Two
of the number were already dead as far as Dr Wildman could work out; undeath
was an anathema for the Druid for whom life was the pre-eminent context of
existence and the third, Headhunter, represented all he abhorred, one who stole
life and then mimicked its essence.
What
was needed was a plan...
Direct
conflict was out of the question, Dr Wildman was outmanned and outgunned and
needed the rest of the Crusaders for that encounter. No, disruption was the
name of this game. Very cautiously he glided to an area of deep shadow and
transformed back into the Creature. With the familiar incantation on his lips,
he opened a gate spell directly over Stormlord creating a mystical portal
between the ocean and the cavern roof!
FLOOSH!!
Ocean
sea water poured from the roof down onto the platform catching everyone by
surprise in the dumping area.
{GM
Note: Per the rules Dr. Wildman created a 5-foot square teleportation gate
which would be open for 10 seconds, for 5 PP. I made hitting the ocean
automatic. Only on a 20 would mean failure, meaning the spell failed due to
wards that Dr. A has in place. Dr. Wildman rolled a 1 and 15 automatic success.
Since this was a Save roll against INT there is no Critical success, but the GM
will decide what is the most favorable outcome for Dr. Wildman from this
situation.
Once
open then 35 (7 gallons per square foot) gallons of water would dump in per
second. 1-gallon weighs 3.34 lbs. so that is 300 lbs. per second (I am rounding
to whole numbers). This means for 1 turn 3000 lbs. of water would flood the
cave. Anyone under the gate would take an area attack of 2d6 if they can't jump
out of the way. None can jump away as they are surprised by the water falling
on top of them.
Since
the platform is 100 square feet (on the map each square is 20 feet, not 5
feet). It will take several turns to flood the cave. So only a significant
knockback value would cause someone to be caught in the current of the flow to
be washed down the stream. Since the Water is coming from above this will be a
Knock Down situation instead of Knock Back. The platform is mostly Steel the SR
rating be 11. With the damage roll being 2d6 there isn’t any chance of the
damage being enough to punch them through the platform. The worst possible
outcome is for the target to be knocked down prone under the waterfall until
the portal is closed.
I
will treat the area attack as an attempt to knock the StormScepter from this
grasped too. So you might be able to separate him from the others and the
arcane relic even if he is KO. If he is KO’ed then he will automatically lost
his grasp on the StormScepter}
Stormlord
and the 4 Headsmen were knocked prone to the platform. All 5 were
incapacitated. The StormScepter was knocked from Stormlord’s hand and was swept
away in the current.
{I
rolled 10 on the 2d6. Since all were surprised, they couldn’t roll with damage.
All 10 points of damage were applied to Hit Points. This was more than half the
Hit Points for each of the 5. They were KO’ed. After mass rolls the remaining
Knock Down movement was applied to Hit Points and any remaining to Power
Points. The range of distance was between 4” to 9”. In all cases this applying 1
point of damage for 1” of distance was enough to take each of the 5’s Hit
Points to zero. All are prone and incapacitated.}
Headhunter
stood as the sea water pounded against his body. He smiled enjoying the
sensation. Otinka laughed out loud as he relished the stolen power Starbolt and
DarkStar provided him. Their combined heightened strength and DarkStar’s
increased density enabled Headhunter to resist the downpour’s attempt to fallen
him to the platform.
{The
downpour did 10 points of damage. 3 points were stopped by the Density (armor)
protection. The remaining 7 points were applied to Hit Points. Headhunter did
not lose more than half his Hit Points so he is still awake and able to fight.
For the mass roll against Knock Down, both Mass and basis HtH are rolled.
Headhunter rolled 16 which is greater than 7. Headhunter is still standing, he
wasn’t knocked prone.}
Hauntress
seethed in bitterness and anger. She hated for her hair to get wet. She
couldn’t believe she was caught off guard. Hauntress had made herself solid
briefly for this initial meeting. She felt humiliated by being knocked down to
1 knee. Hauntress tried to calm her nerves and settle her mind. It was hard to
turn intangible when her instincts were for her to fight the force buffeting
her and to stand up. But she was a changed being and her old instincts still
reacted as if she was a basic human. She was more. Hauntress was one of Dr.
Apocalypse’s Four!
{The
downpour did 10 points of damage. The 10 points were applied to Hit Points. Hauntress
did not lose more than half her Hit Points so she is still awake and able to
fight. For the mass roll against Knock Down, both Mass and basis HtH are
rolled. Hauntress rolled 10 which is equal to 10. Hauntress is knocked down 0”,
To determine if she was knocked prone it is an Agility save minus distance.
Hauntress’ Agility Save is 13. She rolled a 9, she wasn’t knocked prone.}
Skyhawk
was relieved and frustrated at the same time. He was relieved he wasn’t as weak
as he used to be. Before his resurrection and transformation this attack would
have been powerful enough to have knocked him out. Skyhawk was frustrated
because for all the cosmic power he had now from harnessing the power of the
sun he was still vulnerable when ambushed. Skyhawk had shut off his Flame Aura
when he landed on the platform. He did it out of consideration for the other
comfort, especially the Headsmen which basic humans. Hauntress and Headhunter
would have laughed at him for being considerate. Stormlord would have berated
him for even thinking of those that were beneath him. Now it was his turn to
berate himself. He was pinned to the platform on his stomach as the downpour had
knocked him prone.
{The
downpour did 10 points of damage. The 10 points were applied to Hit Points. Skyhawk
did not lose more than half his Hit Points, so he is still awake and able to
fight. For the mass roll against Knock Down, both Mass and basis HtH are
rolled. Skyhawk rolled 6 which is less than 10. Skyhawk is knocked down 4”, To
determine if he was knocked prone it is an Agility save minus distance. Skyhawk”s
Agility Save is 9 (13-4). He rolled a 12, he was knocked prone.}
Dr.
Apocalypse stood as he looked up in the torrential downpour. Confidence and
arrogance were displayed on his face as he stared into the Teleportation
portal.
{The
downpour did 10 points of damage. The 10 points were applied to Hit Points. Dr.
Apocalypse did not lose more than half his Hit Points so he is still awake and
able to fight. For the mass roll against Knock Down, both Mass and basis HtH
are rolled. Dr. Apocalypse rolled 11 which is greater than 7. Dr. Apocalypse is
still standing, he wasn’t knocked prone.}
Dr.
Apocalypse didn’t need to guess whom had done this. Yesterday he had seen Dr.
Wildman challenge on National Television after the New Crusaders had defeated
the Doomsday Robot. He had laughed then but Pietor wasn’t laughing now. Dr.
Apocalypse was watching to see the Solar Druid come through the portal. He was
expecting a formal challenge to be issued. His eyes shifted side to side after
a few seconds. Was it possible Dr. Wildman had a different agenda. Could it be
this crazy “sibling” rivalry that he and Stormlord had going. Could that be the
cause of this attack. That Stormlord was the target and not the Sorcerer
Supreme. Could Stormlord’s plan to get the arcane artifact which he called the
StormScepter be the cause of this? Then Pietor spotted the interloper within
the cave. A Sea Creature was diving into the flood coming off the platform. It
swam toward the StormScepter as the arcane artifact was being washed down
river.
Dr.
Wildman swam against the tidal wave as best he could. He was closing in on the
StormScepter. Soon it would be in his reach. In a few seconds his webbed hand
grabbed the arcane artifact.
{Dr.
Wildman had to make an Agility Save to grab the StormScepter. He spent to Power
Points to push the Save by 2. He needed to roll 13 (11+2) or less. He rolled a
12. He grabbed the StormScepter}
The
Changeling Champion of Life maneuvered as he swam upstream to position himself
to attempt to swim up to the ceiling of the cave where the teleportation portal
was. The Solar Druid saw various individuals either standing or laying prone on
the platform. He saw that Dr. Apocalypse was staring straight at him. While he
didn’t want to break eye contact first with the Sorcerer Supreme, a stare down
wasn’t the most important thing right now. Finding the current he could swim
against was. It didn’t take long to find. In his Sea Creature form he swam
strongly up to and above the platform. Dr. Wildman focused on the portal and pushed
himself towards it.
{Dr.
Wildman had to perform a Strength Save to swim against the downpour. I rerolled
the downpour damage since the first roll of 10 was above average of 2d6. I
surmised that Dr. Wildman was intelligent enough to try to find an easier way.
No Intelligence Save needed. The reroll was an 8. Dr. Wildman had to exceed an
8 or he would be washed down with the tide. Dr. Wildman rolled an 11. He
succeeded on his saving roll}
Dr.
Wildman swam through the portal. He was in a different location than he was
before when he swam up to the Island. There was man made docks nearby. He swam
cautiously to the surface. He reached the surface he raised his head out to
water to get his bearings. He was in the port of the Old Military base. He was
near to where the rest of the New Crusaders were attacking the Robot Factories
of Cyberdoom.
{GM
decided that the natural 1 success on where the portal open the location would
be the easiest location for Dr. Wildman to rejoin the New Crusaders}
[6]
Erdbeben's head was still spinning with the speed and efficiency of everybody
leaving the plane and assaulting the base. In his mind he compared it to how
non-medical observers might feel when there's an emergency surgery in the ER.
StrikeForce
turned to face the new threat ready to confront it when it was near. He updated
the team. "I have a Cyberion approaching our location from the direction
of the docks."
Hearing
StrikeForce report a Cyberion approaching, he figured he'd go out and help.
Erdbeben
exited the airplane. He moved to the best position to wait for the Cyberion to
come charging in {At the end of Building F} Erdbeben attacked the
Cyberion when it was within 40 feet. Erdbeben used his vibration attack once,
because of the Cyberion’s greater size Erdbeben focused on increasing the force
of his vibration even though he wasn’t as accurate with the vibe blast.
VRRBOOM!
The
vibe struck Cyberion hard. It didn’t fall. It was severely damaged with sparks
appearing out of its joints, but it was still able to continue its charge
toward the New Crusaders. It was still in the fight.
{GM
Note: Erdbeben reduced his “to Hit” by 4 points and applied those 4 points to
damage. Erdbeben needed an 11 to Hit (18 – 4 accuracy reduction -3 Cyberion
Defense). Erdbeben rolled a 9. Erdbeben rolled 25 points of damage (including
the +4 from accuracy reduction) which is greater than the Cyberion’s Armor of
21. The armor is ablative. It is reduced to 20 and loses 1 point of Entropy Protection.
Cyberion’s Armor stopped 8 points. 8 points of damage were rolled with Power
Points and 9 points of damage to Hit Points. The Cyberion still has Hit Points
left so it can still fight}
[4]
Worker 5 looked down at his blast rifle. He cleaned the sight and said, “Be
good Johnny”. He then fired it at Blizzard from a window from Building H. KZAW!
The blast hit. Blizzard staggered from the blast, but he was still able to
fight. Looking at Worker 3 staring at him, Worker 5 replied, “What? Don’t tell
me you don’t name your weapons?”
{Worker
5 needed a 16 or less, rolled a 2. Worker 5 rolled 13 points of damage.
Blizzard’s armor stopped 3 points of damage. He rolled with 5 points of damage.
Hit Points reduced by 5 points. He did not lose more than half of his Hit
Points. He is still able to fight}
[4]
Worker 3 fired a blast rifle at Blizzard from a window from Building H. KZAW!
The blast hit. Blizzard fell from the blast; he was knocked out. Worker 3 said,
“Where’s my next target, who can it be now?”
{Worker
3 needed a 16 or less, rolled a 10. Worker 3 rolled 13 points of damage.
Blizzard’s armor stopped 3 points of damage. He rolled with 5 points of damage.
Hit Points reduced by 5 points. He lost more than half of his Hit Points. He
has been knocked out, but his Hit Points are greater than 0}
[3]
The Cyberion charged forward and fired a Power Blast at Erdbeben. KABRZZT!
The power blast would have hit Erdbeben if he was not standing next to
the building. The building provided cover for Erdbeben. The blast hit the
building. The power blast punched a 3-inch hole, no bigger than an action
figure, through the building corner. Erdbeben was hit by the diminished force
of the blast. He was still standing and able to fight.
{Cyberion
needed 13 or less to hit, rolled an 8. Light cover blocks a hit on a 6 or less.
Cyberion rolled a 3 on a d20. The building took the hit instead. The power
blast was greater than the Buildings Structure Rating for Brick (5). Cyberion
rolled 9 damage points. The building stopped 5 power points. 4 points of damage
hit Erdbeben. Erdbeben rolled with all 4, -4 to Power Points.}
[3]
StrikeForce waited until the Cyberion was close enough then he closed the
distance and attacked the robot.
KABAM!
StrikeForce
hit the Cyberion with his escrima. It was a perfect blow causing armor pieces
to break off and the Cyberion to lose its balance as it became Off Balance then
fall prone to the ground. It was lying on its back, but it could still fight.
{StrikeForce
needed a 15 to hit for his first dual weapon attack, rolled a 1 and 9. Critical
Success which rolled 19 result is roll for two successes. Rolled for critical twice:
Off Balance: -3 to Defense for Cyberion until next turn and Free Action for
StrikeForce. StrikeForce rolled 22 points of damage which is greater than the Cyberion’s
Armor of 20. The armor is ablative. It is reduced to 19 and loses 1 point of
Entropy Protection. The Cyberion’s armor stopped 8 points of damage. Rolled
with 8 damage points against Power Points. 6 points of damage against Hit
Points. Mass roll was 6 therefore Knockback distance is 0 inches. Cyberion
failed agility roll, it is prone which is -1 to Defense when attacked from less
than 2 inches away. The Cyberion has Hit Points left. It is prone and can still
fight.}
KABOOM!
StrikeForce
hit the Cyberion with his escrima. It was a blow causing armor pieces to break
off. It was lying on its back, but it could still fight.
{StrikeForce
needed a 13 to hit for his first dual weapon attack, rolled a 13. StrikeForce
rolled 19 points of damage which is equal to the Cyberion’s Armor of 19. The
armor is ablative. It is reduced to 18 and loses 1 point of Entropy Protection.
The Cyberion’s armor stopped 8 points of damage. Rolled with 7 damage points
against Power Points. 4 points of damage against Hit Points. Mass roll was 8
therefore no Knockback. The Cyberion has Hit Points left. It is prone and can
still fight.}
KABLAAM!
StrikeForce
hit the Cyberion with his escrima. It was a blow causing armor pieces to break
off. It was lying on its back, but it no longer working. It had shut down,
incapacitated.
{StrikeForce
needed a 17 to hit for his first dual weapon attack, rolled a 17. StrikeForce
rolled 22 points of damage which is greater than the Cyberion’s Armor of 18.
The armor is ablative. It is reduced to 17 and loses 1 point of Energy
Protection. The Cyberion’s armor stopped 8 points of damage. Rolled with 7
damage points against Power Points. 7 points of damage against Hit Points. Mass
roll was 7 therefore Knockback is 0 inches. No damage from knockback and is
already prone. The Cyberion has zero Hit Points. It is prone and has 0 HP. It
is incapacitated}
[2]
Worker 1 fired from the window at the aircraft. KAZOW! The blast
penetrated its armor. The aircraft could still fly. Worker 1 said to the
others, “I think it’s a mistake to not shoot the others first, but I must
follow my programming.”
{Worker
1 needed anything but a natural 20 to hit, rolled an 18. Rolled 15 points of
damage, Aircraft armor stopped 3 points of damage. 12 points of damage applied
to Hit Points. Aircraft had 36 Hit Points, now it has 24 HP. At 0 HP it would
not be structurally strong enough to fly. Aircraft is an Unliving Vehicle so
taking damage means it can lose ability when taking damage, rolled d20, less
than 12 then an aircraft’s ability would be lost. Rolled an 18}
[2]
Worker 2 replied, “I know you think it is overkill but if we disable their
aircraft then becomes a battle of attrition. We have the superior numbers.”
Worker 2 fired from the window at the aircraft. KAZOW! The blast
penetrated its armor. The aircraft could still fly.
{Worker
2 needed anything but a natural 20 to hit, rolled a 4. Rolled 12 points of
damage, Aircraft armor stopped 3 points of damage. 9 points of damage applied
to Hit Points. Aircraft had 24 Hit Points, now it has 15 HP. At 0 HP it would
not be structurally strong enough to fly. Aircraft is an Unliving Vehicle so
taking damage means it can lose ability when taking damage, rolled d20, less
than 9 then an aircraft’s ability would be lost. Rolled a 12}.

2 Cyberions exited the door to the building the Workers were firing from.
[14]
[Held] Adamas flew down to the Cyberions before they could attack. He grabbed
both in a bear hug then flew off into the sky. Adamas quickly was out of sight
of the New Crusaders as he dealt with the two Cyberions in the depths of space.
{GM
Note: Since Jon is taking a break to deal with personal issues. I am removing
Adamas from the game. I will be praying that Jon recovers soon and is able to
rejoin our game.}
{Situational
Awareness Note: Erdbeben has Light Cover in his current position. That means on
any range attack that hits him, on a d20 roll of 6 or less the building will
take the damage instead on him. It will be either F or H depending on which way
the attack is from. F has a small (3-inch hole) any attack that hits that
building will increase that hole if a luck roll is made, i.e. hits the same
spot.
The
Workers are in Heavy Cover from anyone making an attack from outside the
building through the windows. That means on a d20 roll of 14 or less the
building takes the damage and not the target Worker}
Inside the lab

SLAM 10 ran toward Patty Plus. He yelled “E equals MC Square on your jaw!” and swung
the large wrench he had at her. KLANG! It struck Patty Plus’
shield. The shield protected Patty from damage.
{SLAM
10 needed a 17 to hit but a 12 to get past Patty’s shield. Rolled 17, hit
Patty’s innate shield. Rolled 12 points of damage, not enough to break Patty’s
shield}
[5]
SLAM 9 ran toward Patty Plus. She cried “Your head is going to the moon and I
computed the path to get there!” and swung the large wrench she had at Patty. KLANG!
It struck Patty Plus. Patty was able to reflect most of the damage back at the
Android, but Patty was hurt but still able to fight.
{SLAM
9 needed a 17 to hit but a 12 to get past Patty’s shield. Rolled 2, able to get
around Patty’s innate shield. Rolled 12 points of damage, Reflection Protection
stopped 9 points using 2 Power Points. Patty rolled with the remaining 3. -3 to
Power Points.
SLAM
9 was hit with 9 points of reflected damage. Android armor stopped 4 points of
damage. It rolled with 5 points in Power Point reduction. It was still able to
fight.}
[4]
"Here comes the fun!" Patty yelled and threw two punches at the
nearest android. WHISH! WHISH! Both punches missed SLAM 10
{Patty
needed 11 to Hit on the first punch (14 -1 for dual weapon attack, -2 SLAM
Defense), rolled 16. Patty needed 9 on the second punch (14 -3 for off hand
dual weapon attack, -2 SLAM Defense), rolled 19. Both attacks missed}
[3]
Slam 8 ran toward Patty Plus. He said, “There’s as many atoms in a single
molecule of your DNA as there are stars in the typical galaxy, time for you to
experience your Big Bang!” and swung the large wrench he had at her. KLANG!
It struck Patty Plus’ shield. The shield protected Patty from damage.
{SLAM
8 needed a 17 to hit but a 12 to get past Patty’s shield. Rolled 15, hit
Patty’s innate shield. Rolled 9 points of damage, not enough to break Patty’s
shield}
[3]
Enforcer fired two pistol shots at SLAM 8. KAPOW! KAPOW! The
first shot it but the second shot missed. SLAM rolled with the damage and was
able to continue the fight. Enforcer said, “Powercell, I will shoot the ones on
the left and you blast the ones on the right. We don’t want to hit Patty in the
crossfire.” Powercell acknowledged his agreement.
[3]
SLAM 6 ran toward Patty Plus. He said “Everyone you meet knows something you
don’t. I know you’re going down!” and swung the large wrench he had at her. KLANG!
It struck Patty Plus. Patty was able to reflect most of the damage back at the
Android, but Patty was hurt but still able to fight.
{SLAM
6 needed a 17 to hit but a 12 to get past Patty’s shield. Rolled 9, able to get
around Patty’s innate shield. Rolled 13 points of damage, Reflection Protection
stopped 9 points using 2 Power Points. Patty rolled with the remaining 4. -4 to
Power Points.
SLAM
9 was hit with 9 points of reflected damage. Android armor stopped 4 points of
damage. It rolled with 5 points in Power Point reduction. It was still able to
fight.}

Allowing the initial group to egress to pick up their respective targets,
Rubicon unbuckled from his chair where he summoned M.I.S.H.A., tossed the
Walkman on the control desk off his lap and drew his pistol. Coming to the bottom of the ramp, Demy saw
Orchid disappear as she raced towards the building Patty and Enforcer went
into.
"Videt...",
Rubicon said under his breath bringing up his internal H.U.D. vision of what
M.I.S.H.A. sees. The bear picked up the 4 Cyberions targets and tracked them as
they follow Patty and Enforcer.
Rubicon
said, "De'stroi..." and sent M.I.S.H.A. racing at max speed after the
4 Cyberions to multi-attack claw, claw, and bite with abandon the 4 to draw as
much aggro. from them as possible. MISHA pushed his movement (-2 PP) to catch
up.
SWISH!
MISHA
swung his claw at SLAM 6. It missed the SLAM with his claw passing harmlessly
over the android’s head.
{MISHA
need an 8 to Hit (14 -1 for dual attack, -3 for third attack, -2 for SLAM
defense), rolled a 19, missed}
SWIPE!
swung
his claw at SLAM 10. It hit. The SLAM staggered from the slash as the fake
flesh was rendered from its body and electronics sparked from the gash in its
body. It was still standing and able to fight.
{MISHA
needed a 6 to Hit (14 -3 for dual attack, -3 for third attack, -2 for SLAM
defense), rolled a 5, hit. 17 points of damage. SLAM armor stooped 4 points. -5
to Power Points and -8 Hit Points. The SLAM has Hit Points left so it still
able to fight.}
CHOMP!
bit
down on SLAM 9 with its fangs. It hit. The SLAM staggered from the bite as the
fake flesh was rendered from its body and electronics sparked from the wound in
its body. It was still standing and able to fight.

to Power Points and -3 Hit Points. The SLAM has Hit Points left so it still
able to fight.}
Meanwhile,
Demy pushed his movement (-2 PP) as he followed behind his teammates (quietly
singing the lyrics to The Talking Heads, Burning Down the House), prioritizing
taking shots with his pistol at any free Cyberions not currently engaged when
he gets inside the building. Not seeing any Cyberions in the room, he chose the
same side as Enforcer firing a round at the nearest SLAM.
BLAM!
Bulleye!
he hit the SLAM between the eyes. It rocked its head back and when it lifted it
head back up the SLAM’s face plate had fallen off. Its face threw off sparks,
but it was still standing and able to fight.
{Demy
needed 13 or less (15 -2 SLAM Defense). He rolled a 1 and 13. Critical Success.
Rolled a Solid Hit on the Critical Success table for +3 damage. Rolled 5 points
of damage. SLAM armor stopped 4 points and SLAM 8 rolled with the -1 to Power
Points. No Hit Points were lost. It is still able to fight.
[3]
SLAM 5 ran into the room. He attacked MISHA and said, “Our virtues and our
failings are inseparable, like your head and your torso. When they separate,
beast is no more” Swing the large wrench he had at the Cybernetic Bear. KLANG!
It struck MISHA. MISHA rolled with most of the damage. It was still standing
and could continue to fight.
{SLAM
5 needed a 17 to hit (17 +1 bonus for MISHA’s size, profile 1.9x, -1 MISHA
Defense. Rolled 2, Rolled 11 points of damage. MISHA rolled with 10. -10 to
Power Points and -1 to Hit Points. MISHA still had Hit Points so it could still
fight.}.
[2]
SLAM 3 ran into the room. He swung the large wrench at MISHA and said, “This
old fashion beat down your getting is one percent inspiration, ninety nine
percent perspiration” KLANG! It struck MISHA. MISHA rolled with
all the damage but lost its balance doing that. MISHA was not Off Balance
making it harder to defend itself as it continued to fight.
{SLAM
3 needed a 17 to hit (17 +1 bonus for MISHA’s size, profile 1.9x, -1 MISHA
Defense. Rolled 1 and 9, Critical success. MISHA is Off Balance until his next
turn. -3 Defense. Rolled 7 points of damage. MISHA rolled with 7. -7 to Power
Points and 0 to Hit Points. MISHA still had Hit Points so it could still
fight.}.
[1]
Powercell said, “I am fully charged and ready to go!” He fired two Electro
Blasts at the SLAMs on his side.
KZZT!
The
blast missed SLAM 6
{Powercell
needed an 11 to hit, rolled a 13, miss}
KZZT!
The
blast missed SLAM 3. The SLAM gave off a weird glow as if it was somehow
charged up by the electricity in the air.
{Powercell
needed an 11 to hit, rolled a 20 and 19, Critical Failure on his miss. SLAM 3
get a free action this turn.}
[1]
SLAM 2 ran into the room. He charged at MISHA. As he swung the heavy instrument
in his hands, “There is a use for almost everything. I am using this to knock
you out!” KLANG! It struck MISHA. MISHA rolled with most of the
damage. It was still standing and could continue to fight.
{SLAM
2 needed a 20 to hit (17 +1 bonus for MISHA’s size, profile 1.9x, +2 MISHA
Defense being Off Balance). Rolled 5, Rolled 11 points of damage. MISHA rolled
with 8. -8 Power Points and -3 to Hit Points. MISHA still had Hit Points so it
could still fight.}.
“
[1]
SLAM 1 ran into the room. He charged at MISHA. As he swung the heavy instrument
in his hands, “When you change the way you get beat down, the beat downs you
take change” KLANG! It struck MISHA. MISHA rolled with some of
the damage. It was still standing and could continue to fight.
{SLAM
1 needed a 20 to hit (17 +1 bonus for MISHA’s size, profile 1.9x, +2 MISHA
Defense being Off Balance). Rolled 16, Rolled 17 points of damage. MISHA rolled
with 7. -7 Power Points and -10 to Hit Points. MISHA still had Hit Points so it
could still fight.}.
[Free
Action] SLAM 3 swung the large wrench at MISHA and said, “The value of a weapon
lies in using it upside your head” KLANG! It struck MISHA. MISHA
rolled with most of the damage. It was still standing and could continue to
fight.
{SLAM
3 needed a 20 to hit (17 +1 bonus for MISHA’s size, profile 1.9x, +2 MISHA
Defense being Off Balance). Rolled 14, Rolled 11 points of damage. MISHA rolled
with 8. -6 Power Points and -3 to Hit Points. MISHA still had Hit Points so it
could still fight.}.
[0]
MISHA body healed itself of some of the damage hit had taken from the SLAMs.
{GM
Note: MISHA healed 10 Hit Points. Failed both d10 rolls, rolling 8 and 9
against 7 or less.}
{GM
Note: The Regenerations rules has room for interpretation. You can read that
the ability to 20 CPs can heal 2 Hit Points around or it can be interpreted as
2 uses of the PCs Healing rate per round. I prefer the latter so If a PC has a
higher Endurance (more CPs) the PC gets the benefit of that in its
regeneration. I don’t think PCs/NPCs should get the same regeneration with the
same CPs if one has a significantly higher Healing Rate. MISHA gets 2 uses of
its 5.7 Healing Rate per turn. That puts it as 10 to 12 Hit Points per turn.
Depending on if 2 rolls of d10 are less than 7.

Black Orchid jumped out and immediately became invisible, knowing that the
trademark mayhem of the Crusaders would further help her move around unseen.
She was comfortable in the cold trappings of modern buildings and was quickly
looking for electronic systems she could either co-opt or sabotage,
particularly with respect to disabling the androids. She couldn’t figure out
how to disable or control the androids but on an off chance she found a relay
panel which was sending a distress message to the Cyberions that were on
patrol. It was telling of the attack and ordering them to return to the
military base to protect the robotic factories and the munitions building. She
has access to the system, now what did she what to do with it?
{Black
Orchid needed to roll an INT save of 14 or less to figure out the electronics.
Rolled a 19. Used her action for the turn to try again. Rolled an 18. Both
missed. Performed a luck roll, 10 or less, rolled a 9. That is how she found
what she did}

"Here comes the fun!" Patty yells
and throws two punches at the nearest android.
---
OOC:
Tom,
I'm assuming that this entry on my sheet means I can punch twice but at a lower
chance to hit?
Thanks
for the backstory on what this issue means to you for the history of your
worldbuilding and campaign. It feels really good to be a part of that!
I
also love that we're being used by Dr. Apocalypse by choosing to take the
straightforward approach against the most visible target.
And
yes, I feel you captured the toxic arrogance and testosterone of multiple high
level super villains in the same room. I never get tired of Doctor Doom being
in a room of baddies and going "Bah!" and barely tolerating everyone
else and constantly insulting them :D
Best,
Shane
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tom,
I don't know if you remember, but Starbolt is Blizzard's cousin. I don't know
if it will be relevant, but I just wanted to remind you.
Jamey
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shane,
yes you are correct about two punches. Thanks for all kind words and I am
thrilled that what I was trying to write came across.
Jamey,
thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten
about their being cousins.
Tom
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great issue Tom!
StrikeForce
turns to face the new threat ready to confront it when it is near. He updates
the team. "I have a Cyberion approaching our location from the direction
of the docks."
He
will wait until the Cyberion is close enough that he can close the distance and
still attack him.
Jamey
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Erdbeben's
head was still spinning with the speed and efficiency of everybody leaving the
plane and assaulting the base. In his mind he compared it to how non-medical
observers might feel when there's an emergency surgery in the ER.
Hearing
StrikeForce report a Cyberion approaching, he figured he'd go out and help.
OOC:
Erdbeben will exit the airplane and attack the Cyberion if/when he gets within
40 feet. He'll use his vibration attack once, reducing his to hit by 4 points
and applying those 4 points to damage.
Paul
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for the issue, Tom! I lost the bead on
why The Black orchid didn't leave the plane. She will jump out and immediately
become invisible, knowing that the trademark mayhem of the Crusaders will
further help her move around unseen. She is comfortable in the cold trappings
of modern buildings and is quickly looking for electronic systems she can
either co-opt or sabotage, particularly with respect to disabling the androids.
OOC:
is there a way for us to hear or notice what is going on with the other heroes?
Marc
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The team has communication ear wigs. You can
hear what they are saying and background noise.
Tom
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to all who have submitted their turns.
All I need is Adamas and Rubicon & MISHA turns, and I can start rolling the
turn. I know the deadline is next Monday so I am not rushing anyone but I
wanted to provide everyone with a status on where we are.
Thanks
Tom
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shoot!
So sorry for not getting this done earlier! Apologies all.
Allowing
the initial group to egress to pick up their respective targets, Rubicon
unbuckles from his chair where he summoned M.I.S.H.A., tosses the Walkman on
the control desk off his lap and draws his pistol. Coming to the bottom of the ramp, Demy brings
up his internal H.U.D. vision of what M.I.S.H.A. sees as he picked his initial
defensive patrol around Strikes aircraft.
Rubicon
will have M.I.S.H.A. fire it's plasma cannon twice from distance at the
oncoming robot before charging at max speed to the robot facility and start to
try to blow a hole in any weak point of the building (such as a bay door) to
help allow access for the team into the interior. He will advance forward at max speed to do as
much damage as possible to the robot facility prioritizing in the following
way:
·
Breaching
the building
·
Enemy
targets
·
Robot
Production mechanisms
Demy
will follow behind prioritizing the following actions:
·
Keep
his eyes on the group's 6 as we advance
·
Communicating
MISHA's views to the team (using him as a drone in this respect).
·
Firing
at targets (those targets that are not engaged in melee where there is a chance
to hit a teammate) so that the leaders of the group can direct fire.
·
Applying
medical aid if someone goes down with his medi-pack.
·
Thanks!
Greg

When you state Robot Facility, you mean the
one that Patty Plus, Enforcer, and
Powercell are in?
Tom
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tom/all,
That
was a poor and lazy attempt of a quick response for my turn. You deserve my
better attention. If you'll humor me and just file the previous email away as
an alternate time-line and use this response instead:
Allowing
the initial group to egress to pick up their respective targets, Rubicon
unbuckles from his chair where he summoned M.I.S.H.A., tosses the Walkman on
the control desk off his lap and draws his pistol. Coming to the bottom of the ramp, Demy sees
Orchid duasapear as she races towards the building Patty and Enforcer went
into.
"Videt...",
Rubicon says under his breath bringing up his internal H.U.D. vision of what
M.I.S.H.A. sees. The bear picks up the 4 cyberions targets and tracks them as
they follow Patty and Enforcer.
Rubicon
says, "De'stroi..." and sends M.I.S.H.A. racing at max speed after
the 4 cyberions to multiattack claw, claw, and bite with abandon the 4 to draw
as much agro from them as possible.
Meanwhile,
Demy will follow behind his teammates (quietly singing the lyrics to The
Talking Heads, Burning Down the House), prioritizing taking shots with his
pistol at any free cyberions not currently engaged when he gets inside the
building.
Thanks!
Greg
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No problem. I am glad to allow to change you
submission
Tom
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sorry guys, I just don't have it in me to
respond.
Three
weeks ago I lost my job, and the very next week, my four month old grandson
passed away for no reason... They say SID, which means nothing. He had spent the previous evening with us,
and was fine and healthy. I'm still
struggling to just get out of bed every day.
I do have a lot of family here, and financially we're fine, but I'm an
emotional basket case, and I'm used to being the one everyone else leans
on. Please proceed without me for
now. I'll rejoin when I'm able.
Jon
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So sorry for your loss Jon. Praying for you
and your family.
Jamey
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jon,
That's
beyond horrible, I am so sorry for you and your family! Of course V&V
should be the last thing on your mind. Just take time and grieve dude.
Shane
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh Jon,
so so sorry for you and your family's loss. Thinking of you all and
praying for comfort in all your sorrow and grief.
Steve
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So sorry for your losses. I can't imagine the
pain. I am here for you, however I can
help. Even if it is a night of just talking and gaming.
Tom
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jon,
I've
been trying to think of words that could possibly help, but echo the great
words already said by others.
Greg
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks
Tom.
So
just weighing up some ideas. I think in a previous post we agreed that there
was some sort of eldritch link between Dr W and any animal he controlled. Can
he see through its eyes? If so, would that mean he would be able to open a
teleport gate using the animals perception as reference. Could he for example
be able to teleport 'Bruce' the shark to where he was?
Steve
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He
can't see through the eyes of creatures he controls. That would require CPs to
an a modifier to the power. You could try a blind teleport but is a high risk
attempt.
Tom
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Given
that he has just swam through the ocean, how difficult would it be for him to
open up a teleport gate in the ocean to flood the cave; it's a pretty big
target to hit I guess 😉.
Steve
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Per the rules Dr. Wildman can create a 5 foot
square teleportation gate which would be open for 10 seconds, for 5 PP. You can
increase the gate by 1 square foot by spending an additional 1 PP.
I
will make hitting the ocean automatic. Only on a 20 would you fail, meaning the
spell failed due to wards that Dr. A has in place.
Once
open then 35 (7 gallons per square foot) gallons of water would dump in per
second. 1 gallon weighs 3.34 lbs so that is 300 lbs per second ( I am rounding
to whole numbers). This means for 1 turn 3000 lbs of water would flood the
cave. Anyone under the gate would take an area attack of 2d6 if they can't jump
out of the way.
Since
the platform is 100 square feet (on the map each square is 20 feet, not 5
feet). It will take several turns to flood the cave. So only a significant
knockback value would cause someone to be caught in the current of the flow to
be washed down the stream.
Dr.
Wildman believes he could catch the henchman and Stormlord in mini flood but he
expects that Dr. A, Headhunter, and
Hauntress have defenses that would keep them from being washed away. He knows
the old Skyhawk would have been but this resurrected Cosmic Skyhawk might be
too powerful.
If
the gate is opened over Stormlord I will treat the area attack as an attempt to
knock the StormScepter from this grasped too. So you might be able to separate
him from the others and the arcane relic.
Tom
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plans in the shadows
Dr
Wildman hung upside down in the shadows caused by the electric lights hung from
the rough hewn cave roof. He was trusting that his Amulet of Command would
shield his mind as much as his size and the shadows hid his physical presence.
StormLord
was obviously not at all aggrieved that Dr Apocalypse had almost killed him a
few hours earlier - Stanislas clearly continued to have an over aggrandisement
of his own station…a sceptre for goodness sakes! William had always hoped that
StormLord would see the light - as his Grandfather had - but the darkness, for
now, consumed him. Nothing there...for now
Two
of the number were already dead as far as Dr Wildman could work out; undeath
was an anathema for the Druid for whom life was the pre-eminent context of
existence and the third, Headhunter, represented all he abhorred, one who stole
life and then mimicked it's essence.
What
was needed was a plan...
Direct
conflict was out of the question, Dr Wildman was outmanned and outgunned and
needed the rest of the Crusaders for that encounter. No, disruption was the
name of this game. Very cautiously he glided to an area of deep shadow and
transformed back into the Creature. With the familiar incantation on his lips
he opened a gate spell directly over StormLord creating a mystical portal
between the ocean and the cavern roof!
OOC:
This is the intended outcome of Dr Wildman’s action: he will open a portal
directly over StormLord hoping that the suprising downpour will smash the
sceptre from his grasp. As the Creature he will bound over, with his increased
strength he will grab the sceptre and swim against the current of the cascading
water back through the portal into the ocean, close the portal and then seek
out his fellow Crusaders.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice update!
Shane
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree. I give this one five stars for
creativity.
Paul
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You are very kind...
however
the best laid plans...
